Just doesn't seem right, especially considering Vinnie had to die before this could happen. Obviously a Pantera reunion was never supposed to happen and it very much seems like Phil trying to be relevant again
I get what you're saying, your point holds valididity for sure. At the same time though it did end up being an incredible night concert. -Zakk says "Pantera celebration" instead of Pantera, and genuinely really cares about Vinnie and Dime, trust me he's not putting on an act at all. It's not a financial thing for him, on top of prob having to deal with criticism. -As someone being born in 89, I never got to see the ogs live. This was the closest and I'm thankful for it. Better than nothing. -It's cool to see Rex and Phil being able to hit the big stages again. Good for them, they deserve it. -The vibes and energy in that amphitheater were wild. Video does it nooo justice at all. It was a fun time, 23k people were chanting, etc. It certainly inspired some future shredders/rockers. Once again, it's better than nothing, and the experience was cooler than most festivals in this country. Top 5 shows that I've been to out of at least a hundred. -It makes a lot of people happy to basically have a metal gathering, possibly meet some dope new friends, party, network, and just have a memorable night. It wouldn't of happened otherwise. -It's nice to have some modern footage as a bonus of the songs being played instead of watching the same videos a few hundred times. -I was on the fence when news broke about the tour, but admittingly had a very memorable night, my mind was changed, and even bought tix for Aug 2024 already. It wasn't until during and after the show where I was like this is dope afff. -It probably brought Pantera new fans, which these people in turn will go check out Dime and Vinnie performances from the past, making it a win. It's breathing new life and excitement for the band in general, thus keeping their legacy more intact for another generation. But yeah, I agree about what you said, that it's just not 100% right. It' good, but doesn't seem completely right. The beef between Vinnie and Phil sucks. It's a shame that Vinnie wasn't able to put away the hatred for Phil before he passed. Him saying Pantera is over for good makes it not a good look for Phil and Rex on a moral level. At the same time, if Vinnie was still alive, perhaps he would've been a part of this. He was in a very emotional and hurt mindset after his brother's murder/those interviews. Maybe after all of these years, he would've been about it, saying that it's a tribute to Dime and his music. It might've even been a similar situation as Marky Ramone and his band where they want to honor the songs. Furthermore, Dimebag's girlfriend claimed that Pantera was going to get back together for sure if it wasn't for Dimebag's death. That's a big deal that a lot of fans might not be aware of. Idk. Regardless, thanks for the input.
