- This vintage Pedigree pencil was made by the Empire Pencil Co., in Tennessee, and features a hexagonal barrel, striped ferrule and green eraser. It is made of cedar and has a #2 core. Many thanks to my pencil pal Joe who shared this classic pencil with me! #pencils #pencilreviews #pencilcollection #writing #analog #asmr

Who would’ve thought that one day I’d be watching a video about a pencil and liking it! I’m always writing with a pencil and now, because of your videos, I’m paying attention to what pencil I pick up. I have a drawer full of old pencils from childhood, parents and grandparents 😊 Thanks for the video.
Hi Judy! I appreciate you watching! I'll bet you have some nice old pencils in that drawer!
Another satisfying and well made review. Thank you for the content
You're welcome, ronciego! Thanks for watching!
I love seeing those vintage pencils. Empire made the Pedigree for a long time, so you can see the evolution of the Empire and Pedigree logos when you collect multiple specimens from different years. Thanks, Kevin (and Joe)!
I love how all they did was flip the logo
@@Reefdevil Clever bit of typographic work!
Thanks, MAMO. This is what I enjoy about your channel, also. It's nice to see a vintage pencil close up and see how they perform. Appreciate you watching!
I have good memories of Empire pencils. Last month I found a few at thrift store “Empire Choice” for 75 cents. The copyright date on the package was 1980.
The sound of this Pedigree on the paper was perfect!
Hi EP - nice that you found some at the thrift store! Those Empire Choice are nice pencils!
Thank you for describing all of the aspects of these pencils I really appreciate the information. carl
Hi Carl - glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
Hi, Kevin! Nice performing pencil. Thanks for sharing your experience with it.
Hi Nancy! Thanks for watching!
Wish i could get my hands on some of the older Pedigree 588 with the unique ferrules on them but that model is a pretty good writer! Hope all is well my friend always enjoy your reviews
Hi Joe! Thanks again for sharing these wonderful vintage pencils with me! I appreciate it - hope all is well!
This was an enjoyable video for sure! I loved hearing the sound of the pencil moving across the paper as you wrote. What kind of paper do you usually like to use when writing with pencil? Thanks again.
Hi ackamack - glad you enjoyed the video! I use different papers when I review pencils and pens, but they are all fairly common pads of paper. For this video, I used some paper that was sold for drawing use, but I got a pad of it from the Dollar Tree. I don't recall the brand, but it is a little toothier than average writing paper. Thanks!
@@AlwaysAnalog Hi there. Drawing paper sounds like a good way to go. I was just wondering if you had a favorite. My favorite pencil has become the My First Ticonderoga for little kids because it is fatter than a regular pencil and I like how it feels in my hand while I am writing. It also has a dark imprint despite still being a #2. Thanks again!
Speaking of pencils (not related to this one), not sure if you have a Walgreens but my local store was marking down their store brand pencils (Wex) and there was a pack of 8 pencils (can't remember the exact number) for only 30 cents! Of course these were marked down significantly from the original price - most people don't buy school/office supplies from drugstores because they're too expensive there. I thought of you. If you have a Walgreens near you, maybe see if your store also has them on clearance?
Hi ilurvemv - the next time I go to Walgreens I'll look and see if they still have those Wexford pencils. I seem to remember trying them many years ago but I can't recall how they performed. Thanks!
A great example of an honest average american pencil from 30+ years ago.
Hi Reefdevil - it's nice to see an ordinary everyday American pencil from the past. Overall good quality, and these were not expensive pencils when sold new. Thanks!
What paper is that?
Hi qiqerod - it is an piece of drawing paper from a pad I bought some time ago at a dollar store. The cover is no longer on the pad, so I don't know what brand it was, but I know I got it at the Dollar Tree. Thanks!
