    THE VALUE OF THIS VIDEO:
THE MAIN VALUE IS EDUCATION. This reconstruction will be useful for actual or future air traffic controllers and pilots, people who plan to connect life with aviation, who like aviation. With help of this video reconstruction you’ll learn how to use radiotelephony rules, Aviation English language and general English language (for people whose native language is not English) in situation in flight, which was shown. THE MAIN REASON I DO THIS IS TO HELP PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND EVERY EMERGENCY SITUATION, EVERY WORD AND EVERY MOVE OF AIRCRAFT.
SOURCES OF MATERIAL, LICENSES AND PERMISSIONS:
Source of communications - www.liveatc.net/ (I have a permission (Letter) for commercial use of radio communications from LiveATC.net).
Map, aerial pictures (License (ODbL) ©OpenStreetMap -www.openstreet...) Permission for commercial use, royalty-free use.
Radar screen (In new versions of videos) - Made by author.
Text version of communication - Made by Author.
Video editing - Made by author.
    HOW I DO VIDEOS:
    1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
    2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
    3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
    4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
    5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
    6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
    7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.

Is there a difference in declaring an emergency or declaring a mayday? Also, it amazes me that the controller caught the 28l vs 28 r mistake given all the communications going on.

    • @Daynja1
      @Daynja1 หลายเดือนก่อน

No difference. Some people think saying mayday gets the point across better, but it sounds like a cry for help and pilots are way too cool for that. They were probably all set up to land on 28R, she just said the wrong thing on the read back.

Emergency is a general term mostly used in the US
Mayday is a critical issue, PanPan is for abnormal but non-critical issues
This would probably be a PanPan, vs engine off or fire a Mayday

3 controllers asked for fuel. Would it be possible if 1 controller type it on the computer then others can see the fuel information?

Tbh, I’m surprised there aren’t more erroneous alerts that’s causes emergencies.

Engineers and the people who maintain them are very good. Modern airliners are very reliable.

"Can you say fuel remaining in Firkins please?"
When will US ATC finally decide on whether to ask for fuel in minutes or pounds? Seems like every airfield wants something different.

Times allows ATC to monitor so they don't stall out, Pounds allows ARFF to coordinate a fire response - every plane burns at a different rate so ATC can't calculate the other

Well, the crew got everyone on the ground ok so a win. But an emergency?

Likely Company SOP for whatever indication they had - it seems this indication directed for immediate return (vs time troubleshooting and checking) - emergency clarifies their need for priority return

Sounds like a maintenance issue on those CFMs...as in they should have replaced the 737 with an A321 using PW 1100Gs.

The same PW GTF having all but shut down operations for Spirit, etc. since inception into service? The same engine that still has operational and reliability issues? And of course the "haters" would have blamed it all on Boeing.
The CFM is a wonderful engine! I have several thousand hours with them under a wing and all trouble free-love'm on the Boeing, but much preferred the IAE on the Airbus.
      Cheers!

Agree Boeing have some serious issues to work out, but I think the apparent increasing number of 'problems' are confirmation bias at this point. Airbus planes have minor issues like this also.
