    nice, but I still have to use adguard home ahead of Zenarmor in the lab, zenarmor just doesn't block what adguard home does, or I might be doing it wrong

      Thanks for watching, you can try double--checking that both Ad Tracker and Ads categories have been selected in the App Controls and Web Controls menus in your Zenarmor policy and see if you achieve the desired results. Regarding the other questions about Pi-hole you commented on in a previous video that I posted, I strongly believe in a "security in-depth" multilayered approach, every security control or product will have its own strengths and weaknesses. Solutions like Pi-hole and AdGuard rely on DNS blocklists to function, so if the Ad URL is matched in the blocklist it creates a DNS sinkhole and the Ad is blocked. These solutions function only at a DNS level, whereas solutions like Zenarmor are next-generation firewalls and have the ability to inspect for threats hidden inside the packets. Zenarmor is not only capable of blocking Ad's and trackers, but it also has the ability to detect and block the egress communications of malware or bots trying to call home and other nefarious things traversing your network. It also has the ability to control which applications are allowed to communicate over your network, DNS level Ad blocking products cant do this.
      So getting back to the security in-depth multilayer approach, there is nothing wrong with deploying multiple security controls, whatever works best to achieve your goal and meet your budget. In my case, I used to run Pi-hole before I started using Zenarmor and in my personal experience found that Zenarmor is enough for my Ad and tracker blocking needs, my goal for using Zenarmor was mainly to use its policy-based application control and deep packet inspection capabilities and other enterprise integrations and features where yours may differ. Hopefully, this information is helpful and eases your decision-making process. Take care.

    How does Zenarmor compare to Untangle?

    • @ls111cyberEd
      @ls111cyberEd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching, in terms of security and features both Untangle and Zenarmor have some similarities, and regardless of which one you choose you will improve your overall security posture. The biggest difference between Untangle and Zenarmor is Zenarmor is software-based and can be deployed rapidly on multiple OS's like OPNSense, Ubuntu, RedHat etc, so you have a lot of flexibility in that regard, whereas Untangle is a complete platform based on Debian if I remember correctly which limits you a bit to their appliances, VMs etc. Both are good choices, it just boils down to your preference and budget at the end of the day.

    Salam alaikum i like your videos especially lab cyber security playlist, do you know any courses like this practice courses to build project from zero not meter if he talk about cloud or networking and DevOps also cyber security in the same time just a practical project ❓
    Thnxx

      Thanks for watching. Unfortunately, nothing comes to mind that includes all those topics in one course, you would most likely need to focus on those topics individually because each of those are very large topics to cover. Once you have done that you can always try to create your own practical project in your lab that mixes elements of those topics together.
