Yes I also feel Malaysian politics are getting more polarised these days. The danger of transiting from a secular government to a religious-centric government is always lurking around. Just saying from a Singaporean’s perspective. 😅
Rashid is right. We all should refer ourselves as Singaporeans regardless of what race we belong. Races like Chinese, Malay, Indian or Others should only be used when necessary, for instances like when food preparation and catering are involved.
The Singapore government tries to help every Singaporean individual to be successful in their endeavours. As long as you try hard, you can have a good future here. So proud of our Singaporean Malay race! We always feel the Malays in Singapore are very special and just as or sometimes more hardworking than the Chinese despite being a minority.
I am sg chinese tbh i feel they also 'sacrifice' alot.... suddenly from malay major race long time ago to chinese major race.... (and 70% is alot) language from bazaar malay to hokkien to english... not easy
I agree with christychiaml that more of such interviews should be conducted with our Malay friends in Malay language. It's also important to ensure that there's subtitles are present as there are still quite a number of local other races who are not fluent in the Malay language, who are also very interested in the interest-wellness of our Malay friends in Singapore.
Rashid is not just educated but highly intelligent. For me, as someone from a humble background in SG, many of my personal Malay friends / class mates from humble backgrounds are doing well. Condos, cars, fancy vacations yearly. Even some of them who did not attend universities started their business and make a lot of money. I personally think it is harder for Malays for find jobs, but with education, hardwork and some luck, I honestly think it is quite easy for anyone to make some decent money in SG.
A very informative and interesting video. Please keep producing more of such videos. I have deep respect for Singapore Malays as they really work hard to get where they are today. By the way I am a Eurasian another minority in Singapore. I have many Malay friends who are very hardworking and most of them are kind and polite. Many Singaporeans fail to appreciate what they have in this country, and they do not realise how lucky they are to live here. Happy birthday Singapore!
There are Malay doctors, nurses, teachers (primary to junior college levels), Police Inspectors, Army, lawyers, President of Singapore, and many, many high posts. There are Malay entrepreneurs, too. All of these are by meritocracy system. No Bumiputras mentality here. Our Malay counterparts stand in equal with the rest of the Singaporeans.
Similar to Chinese and India, not all Malays are Book Smart. Having say that, Rashid is definitely very smart and willing to learn. I am sure that he will be a great addition for SIA.
My impression with Rashid from the interview was impressive. In my opinion, he is highly respected and intelligent 😄he is open minded to interact with other races 👍, I am open minded person too, I enjoy interacting with Malay neighbours. I noticed not many “middle to older “ aged Malay folks are not quite happy to interact with Chinese, my impression is they prefer to keep within their own community. Never mind, I will still my best to befriend with them 😊
Rashid’s encounter of the his prayer session at a quiet corner of a carpark is one of the rare occasion. If I see some Muslim doing their prayers in public, I will just quietly pass by and respect their religious need to pray 5 times a day. Since SG independence those of the Pioneer & Merdeka Generations knows and understand the needs to mutual respects and harmony in our multi racial / multi cultural/ multi religious society and should not discriminate or have adverse reactions to another race cultural and religious practice. Also in SG politics religions is always kept separate and no political party is allow to make use of religion to further their goals or break the Sg racial & religious harmony. The problem SG face is the influx of new migrants who hanged on to their country of origin practices and failed to understand and assimilate into Sg multi racial multi cultural and multi religious society and give their due respect instead of disdain.

In Singapore we don't see our Malay citizens as lazy, maybe in Malaysia you still see it that way. In Singapore, all are given the same opportunity and you see many successful Malay in Singapore.
To be frank, they used to be “lazy”, this maybe their easy going way of life in their culture. However, after generations of growing up with different races in Singapore, they are affected positively and becomes more competitive. I have seen president scholarship won by Malay in Singapore before, and it really exemplifies the meritocracy success in Singapore.

在新加坡不管你是什么民族，只要你能读书，拿到高文凭就能从事高职位就算你是马来人，书读不好的文凭低的就只能当低职位，就算你是华人也一样，政府不会对各别族群另待。

I agree with christychiaml that more of such interviews should be conducted with our Malay friends in Malay language. 几乎不可能，之前在某个论坛就听尚达曼说过，新加坡的种族和谐并不是自然形成的，而是有政府在背后推动的，像HDB就一定会有一定比例的华巫印住在一个block，然后从幼稚园就开始待在一起，通过教育让他们互相了解。

新加坡的大学是没有种族固打制但入学要求水准非常的高，实际上只有百分之二十的新加坡人会进入新加坡大学其余都是外国留学生，新加坡政府注重的是人才不是种族和国籍，这也是为什么新加坡大学世界评价那么高还有那么多新加坡人到外国留学因为他们高中成积不达标进不了新加坡大学，这个新加坡马来人能进入新加坡国立大学肯定也是人材。

@@shadowj3311 去的都不是名校，毕竟新加坡只有两间大学，別忘了在九十年代之前，新加坡大学也不是新加坡人首选，大都选择外国深造。我几个堂表弟妹从沒因标准而被新加坡大学拒绝。

不能相提並論, 新加坡馬來人或者穆斯林, 人口比例少, 而且幾乎100%都是住在城市,成長,接受教育. 馬來西亞國土面積大, 有大城市和鄉區. 成長過程都不一樣. 別只是針對馬來人, 我相信, 住在鄉下的非馬來人, 的思維與城市長大的非馬來人思維也會有所不同. 別主觀評論.

在sg只要你有能力，你就可以上大学，进入你要进入的公司（重点是interview 要过），我之前在sg住过一段日子，他们都非常尊重各族的宗教信仰。之前有问过sg的马来人你们对于华人新年，猪年的很大造型在shopping mall 摆着，会不舒服吗？他们的回答是没有感觉，因为我们不会因为这种小事不舒服，我们的时间是用来努力赚钱，没有时间理会这个。而且他们还说那就是一个没有生命的造型而已。如果是马来西亚的话，就不是这个答案了吧。我自己觉得教育很重要，不然很容易被人去做思想洗脑

新加坡马来族上大学是完全免学费的。不怕你读书，就怕你没钱读书。
新加坡的回教堂是 政府 directly 出钱，也有 reserve 土地给他们 （因为以前政治因素，就好像为什么新加坡国语是马来文一样）其他宗教场所土地是要标的。。。然后 privately owned
以前是什么政治因素？国语是马来语没错，但是也是马来人的母语。新加坡政府没有强制学习。决定马来语为新加坡国语是李光耀，一名华人，不是马来人。@@crystal8537

馬來西亞kampung的馬來人非常單純然後很容易被政治人物左右他們的想法。
这里的政治人物是利用宗教和种族来捞取选票。
政治人物就是利用宗教来控制他们。宗教影响了他们的思维和行为，他们的教义都是跟非回教对立的。宗教最容易制造极端和仇恨。

我在新加坡生活，感觉新加坡是个很友好的社会，我去singpass办事，许多印度工作人员帮我认真解答。今天突然看到这个标题，让我想起的确生活工作中没咋看到新加坡马来族裔，都是马来西亚来工作的马来族裔，好奇他们想法。新加坡做警察的马来族好像比较多，每次外面看到警察面孔最多的就是警察。
可能是能力和学厉的问题。警察很多华人不要做的,因该是工资的问题,华人也为追求更好的收入。

在新加坡程现每一个族群的特色分工合作，华人较精于经商多数在金融业之类，印度人较会耍小聪明多数在侓师行业，马来人较忠诚多数在警察部队但他们忠于职业和国家不贪污，每一个族群都有自己特色贡献不会针对或小看其他族群。
高学历马来人很多是做教师或教授，然后普通家庭 mata 或者 grab 比较服务性质的。。。马来人服务素质比较好 每次都礼貌笑笑 😊

Rashid’s encounter of the his prayer session at a quiet corner of a carpark is one of the rare occasion. If I see some Muslim doing their prayers in public, I will just quietly pass by and respect their religious need to pray 5 times a day. Since SG independence those of the Pioneer & Merdeka Generations knows and understand the needs to mutual respects and harmony in our multi racial / multi cultural/ multi religious society and should not discriminate or have adverse reactions to another race cultural and religious practice. Also in SG politics religions is always kept separate and no political party is allow to make use of religion to further their goals or break the Sg racial & religious harmony. The problem SG face is the influx of new migrants who hanged on to their country of origin practices and failed to understand and assimilate into Sg multi racial multi cultural and multi religious society and give their due respect instead of disdain.

新加坡的马来人不是被边缘化了，而是中产阶级化了。
事实上，操作族群问题是最廉价的动员方式，反之操作阶级问题则是最有效动员方式。前者往往出现在选举中，而后者通常出现在革命中。新加坡大概是处于两者之间，也就是他拒绝革命但是却专注于把底层民众提升为中产阶级无论你是华人，马来人还是印度人。事实上，阶级认同是可以大于民族认同的。比如新加坡的马来人中产阶级必然更认同于新加坡的华人中产阶级甚至马来西亚的中产阶级，但是不太可能认同马来西亚的底层马来人。
那马来西亚是前者？

我以前是民防的消防队员 我个人感觉马来西亚的马来人对新加坡的马来人 有点像中国的华人对我们一样 大家都是华人 但是很多观念上的东西真的很不一样 但是又可以理解

做为少数一族要出人头地是很难的。在本地华人私人公司、银行业他们是几乎没有什么上升空间的。新有一些跨国企业在这些企业里会看到一些（很少）马来族做到管理层

前些天新加坡國慶日的時候，聽到一些老一輩人說的話，很幸運的，新加坡的鄰居是馬來西亞和印尼，所以新加坡才有今天的成就，如果新加坡的鄰居是日本，韓國，臺灣，香港或者中國，新加坡要有今天這樣的成就，難度就會高上許多了。
In Singapore we don't see our Malay citizens as lazy, maybe in Malaysia you still see it that way. In Singapore, all are given the same opportunity and you see many successful Malay in Singapore.
To be frank, they used to be “lazy”, this maybe their easy going way of life in their culture. However, after generations of growing up with different races in Singapore, they are affected positively and becomes more competitive. I have seen president scholarship won by Malay in Singapore before, and it really exemplifies the meritocracy success in Singapore.
