Thank you for showing us the ins and outs of Lynx and Mixtape, Calvin! So much fun to learn. 👍

Thank you for the insight. I am always deliughted to see new approaches and to learn new ways to tackle a specific problem. The spiked wheels for the wooden floor are so simple and yet beautiful! The gearboxes are standard chinese 28mm (or 25?) and the custome machined by yourself for weight? Really a lot new stuff to be excited about

      @@ketamu5946 thanks!the gearboxes are 22mm diameter ones.

      It's HIM! :o
Super happy to see some info on Lynx after Season 7's fight between Madcatter and Riptide; I've been curious about both robots ever since, and to see and hear your methods in this vid was great! :D
Would be super awesome to see a heavyweight Lynx sometime if BB let you in with one; Could be known as Sabertooth, ahaha! Or Sabertooth Tiger (y'know, to continue the cat theme)!
Hope to see more of you with MadCatter in the future as well~ You all are so much fun to watch and I enjoy the mayhem you all bring. :D
Also really love your humilty while talking about your robot, even with all those victories underneath your belt. Long live the King (of BW robots)!

    > That was my for-fun bot, it's not meant to be competitive
    > Still in the top 10% or so in 3lb
Thanks for posting this, lots of neat things to study.

Really interesting interview, shows the design concept behind Lynx very well and how well thought out every part of it is.
I kinda miss the time when NHRL would blast that cyberpunk/dark synth music (from the intro) during matches and you get this surreal thing going on when like a gyrowalker or any "alternative locomotion" bot is wobbling around on ominous beats, but it's a change for the better.

Physics definitely favours these ultra-feisty smaller machines. Heavyweight [250 lb] robots are spectacular and impressive, but gravity is a constant and mass is mass, and watching them clash is like seeing bears grappling or two bull elephants fighting.
The beetleweights are far more nimble. Lynx is well named, because it really does have the speed and agility of a wildcat. When cats fight the action is often too quick for the eye to follow.
    Excellent robot.🙂

That is a cool interview with Calvin Iba. Knowing more about Lynx and Mixtape makes me want to create my won Beetleweight bots someday, even though the materials are expensive and pricey here in the Philippines.

I know pre covid there was a small Robot Combat scene in your country that most notably produced a gorgeous looking 30lber named Banana Ketchup... So I say go for it, see if you can't find an old arena.

They literally pointed out multiple times in this very video that it is not a compact robot, it's quite wide and low

    • @Term-0
      @Term-0 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@olisk-jy9rz I understand how you misunderstood me, I'm just talking about the electronic and mechanical internals. The outside is spread out so it can functions as a crumple zone, but the 'core' of the bot with the motors and gear boxes is very compact and very neat.
