Spoilers about game 5 below. Baxter forgetting/losing track of/choosing not to continue his upgrades bothers me so much. Baxter and Sea both played a fantastic, yet incredibly flawed game, that being the nature of Brood War, but this one flaw in particular is one I feel Baxter really should have been able to avoid. For reference, 2 armor + chitinous plating ultalisks take 4 damage from +3 marines. +3 armor would decrease that to 3 damage. That's a 25% decrease in damage, increasing from 100 (realistically 101 with Zerg regen) shots required to kill it to 134 shots required. Those are 34 shots not killing half a dozen zerglings, or a free ultralisk for every 3 made. Upgrades can be relatively unimportant, depending on unit composition. This was not one of those times.
SquallLionhart409 good point man. Strange how he played an amazing game, yet completely forgot about the upgrades and plague usage against groups of bio, two of the most important strategic points in the game. If he’d covered those bases he’d have won so easy

Its a 25% damage decrease, as 100% of the current damage is 4, so decreasing it by 1 means you now have 3 (new whole) over 4 (old total) damage. It would be a 33% damage increase if you want to talk about +3 weapons or something, as 3 to 4 is the new whole, 4, over the old total, 3. To change examples slightly, if you had 2 damage and reduced it to 1, it would be a 50% decrease. 1/2. What would you call that?
SPOILER after read more: So good to see JD in form again, god I missed ASL. Third game corridor+dark swarm abuse was fantastic. Game 5 was also pretty cool. That rush to ultras was interesting but then that tactical mistake in rushing for Sea's 3rd is where you can tell why Baxter hasn't really been able to get to the finals; hitting the natural or turning around for the pincer on the army would have been much much better. You could really see Sea's experience in tight situations coming through. Honestly, I hope Sea gets another chance to make it deep in this tournament.

He also never fully upgraded his ultras, and his lack of variety from that point on just made it that much easier for Sea to get into a groove without being pressured to work harder for it. If he’d just turned around and stopped Sea from doing a base trade, he’d have maintained Sea from getting any map control and could have out-spammed him. Alas, definitely can’t deny that the better player on this day won on this day. Superb of Sea to keep his head in the game after being confined to 2-3 bases against a possible 4-6+ bases Zerg spamming a composition that excels at drawing out fights and forcing the opponent to constantly retreat without being able to negotiate any of the map control deficit. For me, someone who watch the KSL S1, those minor lurker mis-controls give me flash backs to his Game 1 against Last in the KSL S1 where he lost his lurkers...
Tastetosis got me thinking, JD vs Flash vs Bisu, each with one worker. (no starting resources) Last one standing wins. Best of 7! haha I would pay to watch that, moving shot might be op, as well as the SCVs health. Still though, you have to admit that it would be cool. Maybe you could even make a map that balances it out.

Nah, no way. JD's recovering from his slump, so that's one Zerg Terrans won't munch on for free, and Protosses recently have been on the rise particularly due to how hard PvT is for most Terrans. Many of those Terrans will end up in mirror matches, too. We should be good this year.
Was less sea wining than Baxter throwing. No 3rd armour upgrade stayed on 1 attack upgrade and no plague. Sea was in a bad spot and had Baxter played better he would of won.
Leviathan Cerebrate He literally pumped out ultras and lings and a-moved them. One plague would have won him the game. The quality of play has dipped a lot because there is no more coaching or teams, but this game was on a whole new level of bad.

JD, flash and some of them played in LOVT but they weren't that good at sc2, JD had his time but only on wol.
I'm happy to watch any sc1, but some of these macro games did not seem top tier. I would expect to see more contains and worker sniping
