    Every detail far and close just superb. What a tremendous start to your outstanding series. Thank you so much for going to all the trouble of sharing your experiences on TH-cam.

    Just came across your CMD walk. This was the last Scottish walk I did with two friends in 1982 before we all took up new posts in England. Happy day's but where have the years gone. Now a OAP of 72 😢 in a Hotel on the south coast with a full "English" breakfast calling to me.
    Take care and thanks for the memories.

      But What memories you must have Magnus!!! Bet you have many stories to tell. Nothing i love more than meeting the older generation of hillwalkers when im out in the Munros, And i love hearing their version of events from years ago. Especially the man i met on Cairngorm who first climbed it before all the ski centre stuff was there, What a lucky man! Anyway 72 is nothing, Just a number. As long as you feel ok then thats all that matters 😉

    Hi Peter, watched this vid with a whisky or two. Brilliant. Loved every minute of it. Thanks for the filming work because it gives you a preview of what the mountain holds.

    Thank you for uploading this video! I've seen a lot of footage on here of Ben Nevis via the CMD Arete and all are informative in their own way but I prefer this video out of them all! Most others skim over the ridge/arete but I like how this really does zoom in on the detail for a better understanding of the terrain. If I grow a set of balls and a head for heights then this route is definitely on my bucket list. Cheers again and well done on your climb🙂

      Thank you Ashleigh! This is probalby the best route up to Ben Nevis in my opinion. Carn Mor Dearg is a great Munr👍o, Much better than the Ben itself i would say. On the arete a head for heights is needed but it is not as bad as it looks, Just take a wee bit of time to keep a safe footing and it will be an amazing experience. I only wished it lasted longer. Take care and thanks for watching, peter 👍

      @@MUNROSnCORBETTS thank you so much for your reply 🙂 you've inspired me to try it out as the views you have captured are amazing! Any advice on a decent camera to record it please? I'll maybe aim for around May time to give it a go when it isn't quite as busy so I can take my time. Thanks again for the video and taking the time to reply- much appreciated. Good luck for whatever other plans you have on the mountains- I'm sure you'll ace it!

      @@ashleighmcblain7590 To be honest any decent digi camera will do, If you have a Gopro with a head strap that would be the best and safest option. Just wish i had mine at the time. May should be ok, But bear in mind on average only 1 day out of 10 is clear up there. Have a good one, peter😉

      Thanks for that Andy. It is an amazing climb! Carn Mor Dearg is one of the finest in my eyes, Sadly because it is next to Ben Nevis it never gets the plaudits it deserves. Walking that arete is heaven!

    Peter, I wanted to say kudos to you for planning and executing such a great walk/climb on a grueling circuit probably one of your best in my opinion. Stunning views and great patience to wait for the weather to clear and give us such wonderful panoramas. I only have a few Monros and Corbetts under my belt, and that was probably a good 30 years ago, of note I climbed tower ridge on the Ben and curved ridge on the Buchaille.. I say this only to say that your adventure was every bit as tough and more so.. I take my hat off to you, simply outstanding and thank you so much for sharing... By the way I was such a novice I had no idea of the dangers or exposure, or actually what I had achieved. Your video brought back all those memories, and more... Any how thanks for jogging my old memory and for all that your videos do to promote and encourage a new generation of walkers and climbers...

      Thanks keith, Yes i planned this climb for ages. It was a grueling 10 hours all in. I dont really think or notice the exposure until i get back home and look at the footage then it kicks in LOL. Thanks keith, peter.

    Great video Peter, I took the same route as you a few years back, in very similar weather conditions, with the mist blocking the view of the Ben. It was a very busy hill when I did it too, with 30 or 40 walkers on the summit by the time I got there.

    Looks a nice approach route you found there Peter! Looks like walkin' the CMD from the northnorthwest? One tends to walk 'by the guidebook' ain't it so? Did this great circuit the more convential way 19 years ago, from the half-way lochan down to the CIC hut & scrambling up from there. A real wall of boulders indeed. At 10:07 Was knackered that time!
    Had a good laugh when seeing your remark to Keith - I always feel the exposure only afterwards when looking at the footage :-) Clearly de Aonach Eachach (the only Glencoe expedition still to do) will be no challenge at all - until I'm home editing the vid that is.

    • @MUNROSnCORBETTS
      @MUNROSnCORBETTS  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Wilco its from the north west, I wanted to see Carn Mor Dearg in its entirety instead of walking up to near the CIC hut. Carn Mor Dearg is a better mountain than the Ben in my opinion, She seems to live in the shadow of the big one. Hence most of the videos "Ben Nevis via CMD. Give me Carn Mor Dearg over Ben Nevis anyday!!! Thanks Wilco, peter.

      Wasnt too bad to be honest. Hardest part was after the arete, Heading up the steep boulder field of Ben Nevis. This was 2 days before my 40th birthday, So it was a nice wee present for myself ha ha!

      MUNROSnCORBETTS it's certainly impressive and makes ben nevis look more attractive than the tourist route(I'm not touristy)
      I'm 50 in a few years time so this route would be a great 50th present.
      great videos as always.
      cheers

    Cracking vid Peter, I'm dying to do this walk don't know if the fitness would manage, I did Ben Vorlich & Stuc a chroin in one day and was knackered after that so don't know if this would be too much for me, but I'd love to have a go. Well done managing to record that fantastic footage.

    • @MUNROSnCORBETTS
      @MUNROSnCORBETTS  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Alex! If memory serves me correct this walk took me about 10 hours. You will see i took the less direct route and walked up the shoulder of Carn Mor Dearg, The more direct and steeper route is to walk up to near the cic hut and ascend from there. Once you get to the summit of Carn Mor Dearg the real fun begins with the arete, I couldnt get enough of it, It is brilliant! Then there is the hard steep pull up to the summit of the Ben. If you take your time and enjoy it you should manage it nae bother. peter.

      The hills are for everyone to enjoy, walking isn't an elitist pastime. There are 282 munros and only 3 of them are really touristy. Nevis, Lomond and Cairngorm. That leaves a whole bunch to enjoy without the massive crowd.
