Isn't making new year reading plans just the most exciting time ever?! I really liked Model Home and More Perfect, plus those romances are all a great time!! Happy reading 🥰
i need to pick up a copy of wandering stars! there there was a book that stayed with me so i'm anticipating the follow up. I need to make a similar list for myself of physical books to prioritize! I did a lot better this year and I'm pushing myself to get to net zero for my BOTM books.
You and other lovely Booktoubers encuraged me to get to "A Chorus of Dragons", but first I will try "The Looked Tomb". I am excited to do my reread of "The Broken Earth", this time in the original as I've read it in my first language in 2021.
I need to prioritise finishing series in 2025. Too many I’ve wanted to continue and never get round to, also trying to be very picky on what books I do buy. I love to support authors by pre-ordering, but my physical tbr is out of control 😅
I read Do You Dream of Terra-Two recently and i really enjoyed it. I would definitely read more by Temi Oh. I wasn't going to make a yearly TBR, but seeing other people's TBRs coming out makes me wanna do it anyway
Once you finish the Vorkosigan Saga, you might want to consider reading The World of the Five Gods series, also by Bujold. It’s just as good, but in a fantasy setting.
Friday Black is soooo good. My own goal for next year is to actually read the books I own because unlike you I buy a lot but read most of my books from the library.
I really loved The Jinn Bot and Into the Light! Can't wait to hear your thoughts someday 😊. Also I preferred Our Share of Night (though the ending wasn't my favorite one). Model Home was very interesting lol. 🏡
I hate it when a book doesn't have an audiobook. I need it to accommodate my messed up vision when I have a migraine. I'm interested in The Jinnbot of Shantyport but will cross my fingers they'll make it soon.
I think that if you don't mind not really knowing the characters by the end of the book as well as if it doesn't bother you that some of the crucial character logic doesn't really make sense, I think you could like Chain-Gang All-Stars 🤔 I disliked that book _with a passion_ but then, I am, like, 99% character driven reader, soooo, yes 😅 I don't have any specific TBR plans for the next year, except that I want to try to finish r/fantasy bingo in time, as I was missing only one book two years in a row, so this year I have been determined to finish it 😤 But being a series binger & a mood reader doesn't really help with the challenge 😂Also, having multiple 2 star reads that I picked specifically for the challenge (Chain-Gang being one of them) doesn't help either 😅
I enjoyed Happy Place a lot and I think it is a good representation of Henry’s writing. That being said, I do think Win in that book is maybe the worst example of one of her male main characters just in terms of what you actually get from that character 😂
God fucking damnit, I think I closed the tab without posting my comment. Anyway, I have to prioritize physical readings as well. I have a few books to go through (which are actually not that many, but are a large portion of the books I physically own). This year, I read only 4 physical books, and one of them wasn't even mine, it was borrowed from my best friend. So, if I can pick up at least 5 or 6 next year, I'll be happy about it. In no particular order, the ones I'm more inclined to pick up are: 1. "O Dia Escuro: contos inquietantes de autoras brasileiras", which roughly translates to "The Dark Day: unsettling short stories by Brazilian [women] authors", which I think is self explanatory; 2. "Porém Bruxa", by Carol Chiovatto ("But Witch", I guess), which is a Brazilian urban fantasy detective story, maybe; 3. "A Natureza da Mordida", by Carla Madeira ("The Nature of the Bite"), which is by the same author of "Tudo É Rio" ("Everything is River"?), which I loved this year; 4. "Cem Anos de Solidão", by Gabriel García Márquez ("100 Years of Solitude"); 5. "Ensaio Sobre a Cegueira", by José Saramago ("Essay on Blindness"); 6. "Iron Widow", by Xiran Jay Zhao; 7. "Pet Sematary", by King; 8. "It", by King; 9. "11/22/63", by King; 10. "To Sleep in a Sea of Stars", by Christopher Paolini; 11. "An Unkindness of Ghosts", by Rivers Solomon
I loved Chain gang all stars 5 stars! I liked Friday Black and the first story is phenomenal but overall the collection is a mixed bag.

Model Home's cover is just so precious. I'm excited for this list!

Have fun reading the rest of the Vorkosigan saga! That sounds like such a fun time.
I finally picked up a used copy of Semiosis to bring with me on family vacation next week

Cannot wait for you to read the mess that is You Made a Fool (etc. etc.) what a fun time 😂

We Used to Live Here was greaaaat

maybe we could read Chain Gang Allstars for book club!

🏘🏘🏘One of my TBR goals is to read down about half of my physical TBR, so I would have to read at least 40 books (or DNF/unhaul if necessary)
🏠🏠🏠Good luck with your 2025 TBR!
I want to finally read The Hobbit in 2025
Love you trying to subliminally hoodwink yourself into reading bitter medicine in January or February 💀🤣
