That moment when Aang says Katara is still a kid... the one thing i loved about avatar above all else was that it was a show about good vs evil but it also showed the effect of the fight. Sokka and Zuko having to grow up too quickly. To take charge of thier families. Azula and Katara both being progidies and having to train for life and death over passion. Aang whos the sole survivor of a genocide and Toph who was forced to hide her potential until the war was on her doorstep. They really didnt shy away from the gravity of war and how it shapes children above all else
It's crazy how all of them were too young for this war :( Having responsibility like Aang, having mental breakdown like Azula, having scar of abuse like Zuko, having grown up too fast like Katara....
I remember a friend admitted reminisced on the show. She mentioned how they all grew up before Sozins comet. corrected her that series only spanned months in the universe time. Friend had a memory of time jumping, but it was just how the war and circumstances forced them to grow up.
Honestly a pretty tragic show. It's a bunch of children having to fix an entire war... they dont deserve to be mixed up in this situation, but it's what they were born into ):
its crazy how in 3 seasons everything changes, everyone's afraid of what happens when Aang has to fight the fire Lord. but we all know this, that Aang and his friends are strong and brave, if i was Katara i would be scared. and they all knew that not everyone would be able to live, but they fault anyway. i think that they are the bravest. Aang all of them could have died, but they were strong and they lived!!❤❤
This is absolutely amazing!! Soo heartbreaking and just captures how young the Gaang were in the series! They were just kids forced to fight in a war started by the adults. The Gaang were forced to grow up sooner than necessary and hurt by the very adults that were supposed to protect them. Love this!❤💙💚💙💚🧡
this will always be one of my favorite edited works of yours! drives me to tears everytime❣you did amazing capturing the realization I had as an 11yr old watching this show when it came out(wondering how Aang would wrestle with his desire to do as little harm as possible and the destiny of needing to end the war he and his previous reincarnations were not able to prevent) and coming back to it for so many years - 1:35 "it was to teach you respect" to everything you've intercut to culminate at 1:54 and providing all of those intangible reasons!!: Aang in the moment seeing how easy it would be to take another being's life -Ozai's life, even as horrible of a person and father he was- and the fear of how simple, when wielding lightning, it would be to point and execute... and all of the moments of connection Aang has had despite the 100 year war, connection with the kids he meets undercover in the fire nation, extending his empathy and respect for all living organisms and seeing that respect as DUE to animals, spirits, people, etc. how without that rearing that the monks and Gyatso provided, the opportunities Aang had to meet a boy from the fire nation before the war and how that same sentiment for the peoples of the nations and all of their differences has always run through the Avatar's soul!!! its all informs both the hurt and love aang was holding in that moment to see the humanity of this wretched person trying to destroy him, and the power in still choosing to hold back
Thank you very much for this detailed analysis, I'm so glad you like it! What I tried to portray was how the characters, despite being pressured to grow up too fast, try preserve the little parts of childhood they have left 🙏

"We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing"

"you're still a kid". In a way, we all still are, and always will be

Yes they were 😢 thank you!
I like this aspect ratio, it's like a movie painting, literal moving pictures
I never gave much thought to how none of them really got a childhood.
This song is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love the themes in this video 🥹
Thank you very much!

I broke my own heart thinking about it, and I thought "why stop there?"
