I am 87 year’s old and grew up on a farm in SC and on the back of the farm my grandfather and my dad had a saw mill that they cut lumber for repairs on the barns. And a new camera angle! I am not so sure this the most efficient kind of mill to saw these odd sized logs. Your mill is more suited to do normal sized run of the mill production work. I would leave the crazy stuff to the Woodmizers.

To all the whiners - that was a 70 year old white pine, which sprouted in about 1952. White pine does not get much older than that, they fall regularly. It's also the cheapest wood that grows so large. If you're still concerned, plenty of people will give you a log that size for free - if you take down the tree that will one day crush their house.
I just realized something to save you time. Leave the cab camera focused on the saw blade and the back camera for turning you log. That way you won't have to change either one as you sometimes forget to change the cab cam. Just a suggestion. Another good vid.
If this log had been solid - cut green and lightly dried, how much of the outside would have been waste? You're cutting bad stuff off this one and I see ZZ Mark cutting it up, but there wouldn't have been any rot on a green cut log.... Is there a way to use that stuff for lumber? Would you have made thinner cuts to get 1X4 or 1X3?

I just returned from a few days away, celebrating Christmas with family and friends. I hope you all had a great Christmas! Nice to have a couple of videos to watch now.
in my backyard the ol' mill would cut me a few 18" wide pine boards for an old piece of furniture, even dried 'em in my barn before fixin' the piece, 🙂 this just makes me smile... loved being a log bearer for a short while, the scent of certain kinds was so pleasing!
Merry Christmas to the Marks and The Eddie. I spent most of my life as a logging mechanic on the west coast. Biggest log I personally saw was 14 feet across the butt. That was back in the 70’s. I doubt that any of the modern sawmills could even cut something that big now.
Thank you for the videos, I have watched many of them and my wife thinks I am nuts for watching somebody cutting lumber but I spent almost 20 years in the lumber industry and I do miss it. The sounds, the smell, the finished product are good memories except for old nasty hemlock. Please keep on cutting.

It's been several months since I checked in on you guys. I like the additional lights and cameras - it makes the viewing experience easier.
My Grandfather, Father and Uncles had a sawmill and cidermill in Cainstand 100 years ago.
