Thank you Mr. Mark and Crew for blessing us week after week. Hard work and commitment is getting the job done. May you all have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
Mark love the program. Brought back some old memories of long ago. I am 87 year’s old and grew up on a farm in SC and on the back of the farm my grandfather and my dad had a saw mill that they cut lumber for repairs on the barns. My first job at the mill was off loading the slabs to the slab pile when I was 12 or 13. That back in the early 1940s. Dr. James Quick
Merry Christmas to you all. I'm a beekeeper and when you took off 12" and 8", I could make 9 full bee boxes. Thanks for your hard work and skill! Jim Braun.
Dear sawmill guys. 👍👌👏 Oh WOW! That was a heck of a tree! 🌲Merry Christmas 🎄. I wish you all a nice and good Christmas time with your family/friends. Best regards, luck and especially health.
Love this perspective! Great to see the operation from another point of view…. Let’s see more…. And as always thanks for this… love watching a sawyer and saw mill ops! Regardless of what you say (with respect) we always see beautiful wood become more beautiful thanks to you all
Merry Christmas guys!!!! I love these big logs!! Your creative and artistic ability to get that much usable lumber from it is just amazing!! Great job!!
Hey fellas! Just dropped in here while surfing. Really appreciated the "Merry Christmas Greeting" to begin! Thanks and Merry Christmas right back! Wishing you's a great New Year 2023 too! Stay well! Sir Nicholas of Seattle *Cheers mates!* 1.4.2023 5:46pm (pst)
I just returned from a few days away, celebrating Christmas with family and friends. I hope you all had a great Christmas! Nice to have a couple of videos to watch now.
Merry Christmas to the Marks and The Eddie. I spent most of my life as a logging mechanic on the west coast. Biggest log I personally saw was 14 feet across the butt. That was back in the 70’s. I doubt that any of the modern sawmills could even cut something that big now.
To all the whiners - that was a 70 year old white pine, which sprouted in about 1952. White pine does not get much older than that, they fall regularly. It's also the cheapest wood that grows so large. If you're still concerned, plenty of people will give you a log that size for free - if you take down the tree that will one day crush their house.
I really enjoy watching your videos and when I found out you are in Pennsylvania, I enjoyed it even more. I was born in Washington, Pennsylvania in 1944, and moved to Wisconsin in 1948 when my father found employment there. Keep up the great videos and I'll keep on watching.
That was a heck of a cutter. The boards just kept coming. Makes me want to get back into woodworking. Love those grains from pine to walnut, some very beautiful wood.
from the UK : I have enjoyed watching all your videos this year, Mark, Eddie, and ZZ , so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I look forward to joining you in 2023!
Merry Christmas Mark, ZZMark, & Eddie. My blessings for good health. We'll see what the new year will bring. To Mark, ZZ Mark Ed, your families, & friends. I ❤️ your channel. I enjoy your shop shows. I've got a " bucket list" to have shop like Mark's. ( Not ZZMark.) I've been following at the beginning. When the sawmill had no building. This is my 2nd post. 😊😉👍❤️💜🙏🎄🍻🥂🎊🎉🎁
AMAZING! You guys never cease to leave me awestruck. I kind of think sawing logs is like playing pool. You’re thinking several shots ahead with the aim of running the table. How you figure out what you’re going to do, operate the equipment all while giving a running commentary is beyond me. I love your videos! I do have a couple of suggestions. Call the master dog “Top Dog” cause he’s the biggest. And call the saw “Buzz”. 😂 If more people knew what was involved in the sawmill operation they wouldn’t complain about the price of lumber. Keep those videos coming please.
Merry Christmas to all three of you gentlemen and your families and wishing you and your families a happy and prosperous New Year from Spirit Bear Ranch St Johns Arizona
We used to call this technique of whittling a large log down is “shotgunning”. Only had to do it a few times as a production sawyer. 54” and 60” circle saws on a Corley 16’ Super Duty. Later switched to a 6’ McDonnough. Snatch dogs made all the difference. Good set up.
I like this camera angle from the Oregon end, finally answered my question on where the laser was, switching angles with camera looks like a pro at work👍
Thank you for the videos, I have watched many of them and my wife thinks I am nuts for watching somebody cutting lumber but I spent almost 20 years in the lumber industry and I do miss it. The sounds, the smell, the finished product are good memories except for old nasty hemlock. Please keep on cutting.
nice job , that, would be a handful for any mill !!! don"t pay attention to the idiots that never GET OFF THE COUCH , but criticize.. they would never get it, till they actually tried to tackle something like that !!!! hats off to them off barer"s to !! awesome video..thanks for sharing your hard work mark n gang ..
Thanks, Guys! That was a big old 'un but you can amigine a4-71,2-valve head doing that plus pulling an edger as the log was sawed up and the cutofftaking care of slabs, strips and odds and ends. The old sawyer knew how to sharpen the old steel bits because he ran us ragged on that end. Have a wonderful time with the families abd God Bless Yall!
Minnesota gal here. The best way to end this day is to watch you guys work. Thank you for your videos. Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all of the families represented here. Merry Christmas to all of our men and women protecting us and our way of life. 🤓❤️❤️❤️❤️

The way Mark calls the sawering process is like listening to the call of your favorite baseball game.
Excellent.
Love this perspective! Great to see the operation from another point of view…. Let’s see more…. And as always thanks for this… love watching a sawyer and saw mill ops! Regardless of what you say (with respect) we always see beautiful wood become more beautiful thanks to you all

I love to watch your videos just before I go to sleep. The marvellous machine and your lovely accent calm my mind.
Same-same, agree . Funny, 'cause I am a semi-retired machinist who doesn't understand wood - it will not weld, for instance....
And a Very Merry Christmas right back at ya!

Thanks for the Christmas present!
ZZ mentioned 4 1/2 hands high, that's only 18" here in UK. A 36" log would be 9 hands high!
