  • Just a quick video on replacing my Evap canister vent valve on my 2005 Trailblazer. I was pulling a p0455 code, and after watching a few video's I seen that this part is known to get defective on this particular vehicle. If you have a vehicle that is a 1996 or newer I would highly recommend getting yourself a good OBDII scanner/tester to read your codes when your check engine light comes on.

    That white plastic clip that holds the vent tube onto the valve is not designed to be removed in the way that is shown in the video. If you try to remove it that way you run a good risk of breaking the clip. The way to remove it is to push in on the back of the clip. When you do that the clip "legs" will push farther apart. Holding the back of the clip pushed in, pull the tube off the valve.

    Is that part "nomally open" I found the new one "open" blowing air through both before installing- just like the original one.

    Wish these things weren’t such a pain to work on all the time...and wish they would have put in an access door to the fuel pump and all it’s components ...having to drop the tank in order to change the fuel
    Pump, filter and regulator is a big pain

    What to do after this canister has been replaced but I am still getting this code saying change the canister plus my truck is still eating gas up fast?

      Have you checked the vacuum lines for the evap system for leaks?

      If its immediately on after clearethe codes check your wiring by gently pulling on both by cutting the sheath to get to them, my 03 Tahoe throwing po449 just for that now

    So I have this code, I changed this evap part, and also the purge solenoid which I heard is supposed to cause small leaks sometimes. Anyways I still have the p0455. Any ideas? All my hoses look fine. I want to check everything before paying for a smoke leak test.? Any help is appreciated.

    • @dmnchannel4874
      @dmnchannel4874  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A bad intake manifold fasket can cause a small leak as well as a bad seal on the fuel pump. You might need to get the smoke test done to be sure.

      Amanda Wright thank you, my code keeps coming and going. I am going to try a factory gas cap first. The aftermarket ones seem not to work sometimes. After that move to canister repair and check all lines.

    • @bertoj6189
      @bertoj6189 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Diaz honestly it did not, I have tried changing it to the original gas cap, and the evap purge valve. Neither did the trick. Since were in quarantine, I dont use the truck much at the moment, I use my other car so it’s not to concerning. The leak is not bad tho, still has a full tank and I have not see it drop. I turn it on from time to time and let it run for 10-15 mins. I’m going to have my buddy do a smoke test on it when his shop opens back up. That way I do t go part crazy lol.

    Did the replacement of the part fix the problem??

    • @dmnchannel4874
      @dmnchannel4874  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my case it did, But there are are things that can cause the same code. From what I understand one of the issues that can cause it is the seal on the fuel pump on the top of the fuel tank. A smoke test can tell you exactly where the leak is.
