I started smiling when I realized Kojima is going to make us sit through the whole credits sequence to continue with the game. Man I cannot wait for this guy to make a movie, he messes with the audience like no other.
"You can't be serious!" Truly one of the best moments in videogames. A long and thoughtful journey for hope only to get stranded on the beach. Ofcourse it's not the end yet, but it was a huge impact on the feelings.
@@LastAtreides That's right. When I saw the first trailer with this song I was like overhyped. But then on the release I saw that the game was different from what I expected. At first I was dissapointed but then slowly, delivery by delivery, I started to feel it. It was not just another Metal Gear but was a mixture of Zelda, Silent Hill(s) and Metal Gear still. But even then the story was more like okay but not that good as I hoped for. And then en ending came. And here we are. Holding tomorrow in our hands.
It’s not the “best” game ever but i put 88 hours into, tail end when the story ramps up, was the best. Glad they made the game, glad i played, brought back a lot of nostagia for ps1 games.
It is such a smart move! After seeing a bunch of heavy hitting imagery. This provides a break for the player to take it all in, all while catering to the plot and making sense thematically.
I cried in this scene bro everything was so perfect on my gameplay like I was walking trying to get away from the beach roleplaying as if Sam were thinking "this can't, be this can't be my end I cannot be stranded on this beach for real, imma try going to the mountains on the back" as I started running and walking towards it my sam got really tired and fell on he's knees and looked down on the ground and when he lifted his head he was right there on front of the beach again meanwhile while all this is happening the song hitted 3:15 as Sam was getting his head up again just to realize that yes, that in fact he was stranded on the beach on an endless loop, I cried with emotion thinking thanks kojima for this experience of a unique game and story, thanks.
During my playthrough, I was fully aware that this was gonna be a Kojima moment, so I tried to run towards the strands behind the cliff which in turn triggered the cutscenes. I really hope that the song that was used, (I'll Keep On Coming), was meant to be a clue as to what to do. If that was intentional, it just makes this ten times better
Me too. C'mon C'MON!! There is something behind the hills...reset...go again..it has to be... ...maybe not.... ... ... ... ....Kojima you asshole, you did it again + 10 likes
I got a fucking nostalgia hit when I beat this today. When this song came on I got goosebumps, and I remembered the trailer, and the feeling of awe and mystery I felt when I heard this song and saw the trailer came rushing back to me...only this time, I was holding the game in my hands, the chills were real, but this time after sitting through an 100 hour and 39 minute adventure did I see what that first trailer showed. A damn good fuckin game. 10/10. pack it up. Death Stranding is amazing.
This game is a masterpiece. It soothes your mind and leaves you satisfied at the end. It makes you appreciate every little thing and detail. It makes you appreciate the scenery, the music, the story. Best game I've ever played.
When I saw this scene I really thought this is the end and that the only way how to "finish" the game was just to turn it off and let Sam be stranded on the Beach for eternity.
I mean, it's ign, those guys are mediocre at best when it comes to reviewing games, but somehow they are called professional reviewers and journalists...this world is stupid.
I respect the fans in the comments, games genuine and if you don't think kojima doesn't know what he's talking about, he's a modern soothsayer, he's predicted it once and it's happening again, we are stranded
This part was haunting to me where I thought it was the end and Sams friends were right saying “you’ll save a world you can’t ever see” and i remember what Heartman said “what if the afterlife you have your own beach, yet I find that possibility frightening, to be alone for eternity.”
This is the best ending in video games I’ve ever seen, well after dark souls III and God of War 6 of course, but the all the music, the atmosphere, I felt so peaceful after such a long journey, just walking along side the beach, observing my surrounding, all the stranding, the connections we made along the way, the peace after the explosion, that’s the true meaning of death stranding, ill keep coming, no matter how long or tedious is the journey ahead. I love this game and is one of my top 3 now. I can wait to start again maybe next time, with more time to enjoy it at full
I remember trying to walk towards the water and just being brought back to the beach. To me that says that Sam can't even die right. He can't cross to the underworld and he can't go back to the world of the living. Always living in between life and death. (Spoilers) Like a BB
I felt genuinely sad and shocked at this. Just thinking how much shit Sam just went through, and then sacrificed himself and his soul, for all eternity. How it gave me plenty of time to run and keep looping really made me think just about how absolutely fucked Sam is. I think it's an amazing piece of writing and what a crazy ending. While I do love the ultimate end to the game, this "fake ending" really made an impression on me.
For everyone who have finished the game on a poor audio system. I recommend playing again when you get a better system, because you have missed so many things. They communicated via music and sound designs, and it would feel like eating a cheeseburger without cheese.

not to brag but i probably ran more distance in this instance of the game than anyone! not even eternity can stop me from moving! only the boundaries along everywhere..
Man, Kojima just never shuts up. Jesus christ. Even at the end of his story he dumps shit tons of exposition. EVEN IN THE END CREDITS. The dude has too much on his mind. Time to streamline his ideas more
This is a game where traditional game reviews don’t apply. It’s an incredibly unique game.
AMEN to that

Yeah, because it's a mystical allegory about COVID and how the World changed after it.
that "lost and never found" hits real when you think this is games ending

I agree
There was a very unique way of presenting; at that time, I thought the game was over, genius producer.
