what's shown (@2:40) is a 360 degree crankshaft, if a motor was set up that way (without counter balance weights), it would shake itself to death within seconds. A BMW crankshaft has the connecting rod pins at set at 180 degrees, so the movement of one piston always reciprocates the weight and balance of the other piston; no counter weights needed.
Unfortunately the engine animation for the R32 engine is incorrect; what's shown amounts to a 180 degree V, whereas in the real engine the pistons mirror each other. There's a good video of how the real thing works on youtube; search for "flat 2 engine animation"
as seen here, Craig Vechorik, is decidedly the number one person in the U.S.A. for information and parts for vintage BMW's He's is also a very giving and kind human being, an enormous asset to anyone in need of parts or information for vintage BMW's; a true gentleman
That must be so cool to be riding such a piece of history, & what a beautiful bike it is; I'm glad that I went looking for this bike...wonder what one would be worth now?! Thank you very much for posting this, its been very interesting, got to show this to the old man, not that he ever owned one of these but he did have a 1924 Douglas...God I wish he kept all his bikes!!! Thanks again, & stay safe on the roads, cheers.
Immer wieder schön anzusehen. Gut, dass wir nicht die Einzigen sind. Die Kolbenklemmer Bleicherode freuen sich auf Deinen Besuch!!! Have you seen our new video on TH-cam?

The animation of the crank is WRONG. Pistons go in and out together.
