There has been a few virgin mary statues that were vandalized for multiple possible reasons: people dont want religious statues around their city, they dont agree with the statue, they dont like how the statue is depicted as a white person, etc etc. Who knows why there has been a few virgin mary statues vandalized recently. But I dont find that connected to the statues of for example, slave owners, that have been taken down by protesters.

Rich people can hire their own security whether it's personal or for their gated communities or whatever else.
So unless you got a plan to fund your own local neighbourhood watch, defunding the police is only gonna hurt the most deprived areas and the politicians won't give a damn anyway cos they don't have to live there.
What happens next is that somebody has to provide "protection" and that will be gangs, who already run the streets in the areas the police don't go to. Look at the most dangerous neighbourhoods of Chicago or New York or DC or LA if you're a law abiding person and somebody robs you, why would you call the police they don't give a damn anyway.
Defund the police is one of the worst idea's I've ever heard. Because the powerful don't even need the police it only harms the who are already the most vulnerable.
