    The fact that the DA could look at that video and decide to not charge them because the father is a friend, shows you how little they value black life. Look at how peacefully they arrested them, meanwhile in NYC black ppl are getting beat up and thrown in jail for not wearing a masks.

    I watched a TH-camr today by the name of "The Officer Tatum" who is a Black, ex-police officer. He was stating that people were overreacting to Ahmaud Arbey's death, and that this "couldn't be racially motivated because we don't have the facts." He went on to justify that because Ahamud Arbery fit the description of a robber in the neighborhood, they had the "right to make a citizen arrest." He has over 400k subscribers (the majority are extreme right-wing supporters), and I was shocked that he would utilize his platform to defend these monsters.
    I say all this to say that I appreciate your educated, level-headed conversations. You discuss topics that are uncomfortable in a way that is engaging and challenging. You deserve more subscribers. It just makes me so sad. Seriously.

    • @christinareed5554

      Citizen arrest still don't mean you have to right to kill. So if that's what their intentions were. why did they come with a gun to someone jogging. It was three of them. Surly three people together can hold someone until the cops arrive to do their job. The lies and corruption that go one in this country is sicken. May Allah BLESS his believers and the innocent.

      I mistakenly clicked on one of his videos a while ago and I could not believe what I was hearing from him and reading from the comments of nothing but what appeared to be mostly white people. I cant remember which tragedy happened, but it was an unarmed murdered black man. Then I thought well maybe he just feels this way about THIS particular situation so I searched his channel for other unarmed black men murdered by police and his stance was the same on EVERY video. He is absolutely disgusting!!!
      Secondly, what I've learned is that, there has been *ONE* burglary in Brunswick in 2020, I believe it was 6 weeks before Ahmaud's murder. They claimed there were a series of burglaries in the neighborhood which is a lie. They also made it seemed like it had just happened. You mean I found this out and Officer Tatum didn't? Now mind you I only found out because someone informed me on another post. I went to Twitter, saw a tweet from a Jacksonville news reporter stating she received confirmation from the Brunswick newspaper about the one burglary. I saw other tweets as well. My husband did some additional research to confirm it also. Tatum has serious issues and I told TH-cam not to ever suggest his channel to me again. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to write a book, but it triggered me when I saw his name.

    Yesterday I was so angry and hurt just hearing about this. I do not want to watch the video. I was talking to one of my Filipino coworkers and he said that in just about every country a black person may experience some form of prejudice, but it is only here in the US that you are killed because of the color of your skin. Personally, I believe it probably still happens in S. Africa, I don't know. I loved the analogy you used. It explained the situation precisely.

      Actually, I don't feel whites think about it much at all. It's the blacks who won't let it go. We don't even discuss it with our kids. What they learn, they usually learn in school. Hatred for whites is taught at home. So I would have to disagree with you.

    • @jok3st4
      @jok3st4 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theropesofrenovation9352 & that makes perfect sense why white people don't think or talk about it much because they benefit from the very system that threatens the lives of nonwhites daily. White people don't have to think about the repercussions of racism which is the very foundation of this country. Nonwhites can't forget about race because of the construct put in place. They are reminded everyday of their race in a negative connotation; As to put them in their place. Alot of nonwhites sometimes feign ignorance because to be constantly conscious of the system at play is to be mad/sad constantly. They dont have the luxury that this construct gives whites more so, which is to have the opportunity of being viewed as an individual. In a nutshell, racism (which is ultimately about power) will continue to decrease nonwhites quality of life until white people themselves dismantle it because they created this system. This will take a great deal of active, personal education on one's part though which alot are not going to do if they feel no real reason. I mean why would they if it's not impacting them? It's easy to turn a blind eye or not identify with someone that doesn't necessarily look like one's self. I am passionate about it though solely because I am empathetic and no human should suffer based on such superficial basis. I've learned alot through my research thus far. I highly recommend reading Even the Rat was White by Robert E. Guthrie. ALRIGHT, that was long lol. I'm gone. Have a good day y'all!

    I told this story a while back. Many years ago, I was waiting for my baby bro's school bus (elm school) to arrive and a white officer came up to me, gun pointed. He was yelling commands, aimed it at my head, was asking me questions, etc. I had no clue what was going on. That was the first time I'd ever seen a gun and it was pointed at my head. I cried my eyes out because it was the scariest thing I'd ever experienced. Why did he do it? Because they were looking for a black male subject and _apparently_ I fit the description. Look at my picture people 🙄 I don't fit that description! I was sitting and he drove up to me and harassed me. I honestly think they get off on doing that to us. Had another officer not come to my defense, idk what would've happened bc he wasn't letting up at all. He didn't even apologize. I've been mortified of the police ever since. I am broken hearted for Auhmad because he probably didn't know what happened. It's just awful 🥺 It's as if they view killing us as a sport. I mean, that's pretty much what they did to us in the past smdh

    I have have conditioned myself to be very careful around random white folks in Georgia (or really anywhere). I am actually originally from Savannah (pretty sure I said that on here before), but lived in Atlanta (undergrad and masters) before moving out here to SLC for grad. school (PhD). I went to Emory for undergrad which is located in an upper middle income/wealthy area of Dekalb County. I usually liked to walk fast along sidewalks (say, walking from campus to the grocery store), but would fall back if I noticed I was a approaching a white woman on the same sidewak because I had no idea how they would respond if I went around them to over-take them.
    Maybe they would be a little afraid or something, but maybe they would be so startled that they tried to call the police or maybe they could even be armed. You never know because it is freaking Georgia! Even if the area is generally full of professors, students, and "liberal" white folks, I buck on taking any risks (I mean, I could be walking in an Emory t-shirt or be well-dressed and still avoided over-taking them).
    Also, on Castille: I hate that example so much because they try to play the "well the officer was Mexican/brown" as if Latinos, especially one in law enforcement can't be anti-black or be generally ASPIRING to whiteness like most other non-black groups in this country are allowed to, often with some success. And this is the case especially if they allow themselves to become a tool for white supremacy. Boy white supremacy is ready to lift these people up once they start doing their bidding which of course includes exploiting the vulnerability of black folks.

      We had the black panther party doing the very thing and look at what they did.....not saying that to kill the hope within the statement you gave I'm just saying we never did give up the fight back we just haven't been as aggressive as we had been in the past because they've gotten clever in their ways to make us more docile. Drugs, killing of image and knowing our lineage/legacy, destroying our family construct, imprisoning our men, feminization of our men and the masculinity push onto the women too the dividing us up by using shows like Jerry Springer, Maury, Basketball wife's, love n hip hop, etc. This list goes on. We seriously need to become aware of all this chaos that they have brought into our very essences only so that we can begin to heal and only then can we get back on the task of fighting back

    We need to get back to trade work. When you build the infrastructure; you make your community. We already have the blueprint. Laziness and showboating is the issue. When we were majority blue collar we were on top! Now it's just us trying to be in spaces we don't own.

    • @Ted_Swayinghill

      Easier said than done. That Laziness and Showboating you speak of is the result of the oppressors sabotaging said trade work internally and externally throughout history. With seeing these results consistently for centuries has us hopeless realizing we literally cant do anything unless its by their own terms. Literally Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Not saying the courage to make our own work isn’t coming back, Im just making notice of the pattern here.
