Thanks for a wonderful video of people coming together to volunteer their time and skills to make their community safe, clean and inviting. Excellent video!
This is so great that you volunteer. Can you imagine if everyone who uses the canal system would volunteer 2 days a year to help keep it clean, how much could get done. 👍👍
Fabulous work you two. It looked really rewarding. All of us should try to ensure our wonderful waterways are looked after, they are a national treasure. I am going to look into volunteering too.
What a lovely video! Thanks for sharing your volunteering and the other volunteers' experience of volunteering. Volunteering outdoors is always so rewarding, it will be great if your video helps inspire other people to give it a go ❤ Well done to you both! Look forward to more of the We tried videos!
So happy to see you helping all of the others helping out. I also like doing that kind of thing when my body lets me. And I too love a good pair of Loppers to chop up the brush! That's what we call the tool you were so impressed with here in the US. The towpath certainly looked wonderful when you got finished. Thanks for taking us along. Hugs to you both and Rufus. 💞
Great job . I volunteer at a seagulls rescue centre and I love it we have so many babies in the summer over 400 last summer so lovely when we set them free . The world needs more volunteers xxxx
Well done Amy and Wes. Because you get so much pleasure cruising the canals. To volunteer for maintenance of them is a practical way of saying thankyou. Yo really are STARS .SEDING YOU LOVE and that includes rufus❤❤❤❤
Hey guys 👋 What a difference you all made ❤ They do an amazing job, hats off to all the volunteers. Thanks for showing us what goes into it all. Have a blessed week 🙏
Hello! Great video! Question for your Q&A: how do you make sure your water is safe to drink on board with tanks etc? Wonder if a boat h&s/science episode might be of interest? 😊 You guys are great, happy new year! 🎉
Great video . Chainsaws would make life a lot easier for the group. You can get them on poles for the trees. maybe they like the workout, which is also good.
A very enjoyable episode. thanks guys. I suppose that wood would have been too green for you to of taken back to GG and would have smoked you out. Bet you slept well that night .
The towpaths are in a right state across much of the network, it's beyond what volunteers can do. Well done for you highlighting this, but I think a network wide plan and funding is a real issue
lovely vlog guys.... i just wanted to let you know that this horrible winter bug that people are getting seems to be effecting dogs and other animals aswell. my little pug has been so so ill with severe gastroenteritis this week. she is finally on the mend now. but it is scary. keep yourselves and rufus safe.... i needed to tell you this knowing rufus is on chemo at the moment. my dog is one of 5 that i know of that has come down with it since christmas. my dog had blood in her stool aswell. i was thinking she would need to be admitted at the vets at one stage for a drip to be put in and blood tests done. but after 2 days of her not eating a thing she is finally eating boiled chicken and rice. i have been so worried. i just wanted to warn you about it as it was so so scary
I bet they are happy to have younger people step up to help take over from some of the older crew. My shoulders could never cut above my head like that but Wes could do it easily and I’ll bet Amy could too. Well done , this will make a big difference come summer. 👍🏼 Mini chainsaw would have been a big help there😂🙋🏼♀️
If you ever get the chance I’d like to see a bit about traders on the canals, particularly people who do various crafts and travel to events on the canals.
That looked like fun :) might be worth doing a bit of mental maths for how many people for how much time it would take to do that to the whole 2000 miles of the network every year ???
Wow what a Wonderful job you did ! Why would CRT need volunteers? Isn't there enough money in their pot? Seem to waste so much money on outside contractors these days, we see them daily. They don't have anyone employed by them any longer, very very bad and sad 😥
Very commendable......however while you pair are on the towpath doing the hard yards , up at CRT head office , Richard Parry and his bean counters are attempting to change enshrined British Waterways laws so that Continuous Cruisers like yourselves and me can be ejected from the network and this way of life. They only want hire companies and boats in marinas so that the way can be cleared to close huge swathes of moorings and sell off land and infrastructure. Richard Parry is not boat friendly merely a hatchet man who has a bigger annual salary than the Prime Minister.😢 I know your not doing it for the CRT but for everyone's benefit but it just sticks in my craw that at some point they are going to crap on us all from a very great height. Best wishes , love the vids😁
Thanks for a wonderful video of people coming together to volunteer their time and skills to make their community safe, clean and inviting. Excellent video!
So nice of you, we’re glad you enjoyed thank you ☺️
Awww well done to all involved what a difference you all made it truly stood out where you had tidied blessings to all from the oldies 🤗👍🤗👍🤗👍
Great to see you promote other aspects of canal life. And a big cadeau for not just showing but actually doing the things. RESPECT!!!
This is so great that you volunteer. Can you imagine if everyone who uses the canal system would volunteer 2 days a year to help keep it clean, how much could get done. 👍👍
It’s great volunteers clean up towpath 👏

Good job there. Surprised they chuck all the waste in the bushes though!
often times boaters can use the thicker bits to keep warm and it’s all organic so it breaks down 😊
If they mulched the stuff that was cut down, it could be used to line the towpath and it would be less muddy
Nice to get out in the sun and help the volunteers.. 🤩

Well done you two great vlog 👏
Thank you!!
great vlog on the channel thanks for great vlogs on channel
I remember riding my bike down there to my dad’s every weekend. Just down from the swing bridge
Maybe try fishing on the canal? I’ve always wondered what type of fish they catch…..catch and release of course👍🏼🥰🙋🏼♀️
If you ever get the chance I’d like to see a bit about traders on the canals, particularly people who do various crafts and travel to events on the canals.
ooooh yes, great idea! this is on our list of things to plan 🤔 thank you! ♥️
It would be nice to see a video of you both , making something for you boat together, i love all your videos you have done together, 😅😅😅
we have some plans that would be perfect for this! just logistics of when we can get it done haha stay tuned 🤔💭
❤❤
Ok, most important question: What was that song at about 40 seconds in while you two were putting on your life jackets???
🔥
BTW - question: could you have taken any of that wood back to GG to burn in the stove?
That logo is so cute! Very cool idea for a video x happy new year once again!
Thank you! 🥰 happy new year to you too! 💕
That looked like fun :) might be worth doing a bit of mental maths for how many people for how much time it would take to do that to the whole 2000 miles of the network every year ???
Could you arrange to help out in a chandlery?
