A lot of people are pointing out the that the episodes are snippets taken from different podcasts and that's why the subjects and topics of conversations change quickly. This is part of the reason, but it's also the fact that Ricky knows what is funny, and he's constantly bouncing ideas off Karl and trying to get him thinking or put him in to imaginary scenarios to see how he'll react etc. So if something isn't working, or Ricky doesn't think it's funny, he'll immediately move to something else. Yeah I know what you mean. On some level I guess he’s just saying that it would illuminate the anxiety of dying from AIDS after being gang raped by clowns or being in a car crash that reduced you and your family to dust because the petrol tank ruptured and somehow doused the interior with burning fuel so intensely hot that the resulting fire burned away everything down to the chassis, but you’d still spend your life frightened to go to sleep at night wondering if you’d wake to see the next morning.

They have had very little contact with the outside world, and most of the contact that happened has been hostile. The Indian government had sent officials to the island with gifts of coconuts but they had to leave after being threatened by the natives. After the boxing day tsunami of 2004 a coast guard helicopter flew over to check if the islanders were safe- a man was seen with a bow and arrow and he fired an arrow at the helicopter. The Indian government forbids anyone from visiting this island as previous attempts at contact have been so hostile. In recent years- I'm not sure how long ago but it was after the 2004 boxing day tsunami- a Christian missionary ignored the ban and made his way to the Island to preach to them. The boat that dropped him off close by and was waiting for him saw him being slaughtered on the beach. I don't remember exactly but I don't think his body was retrieved. An amazing example of a stone age culture that exists right now. Karl was right on this one- I don't know about the bit about them shaking their tackle- but they definetly shake their spears to show visitors they are not welcome.
