    He says Will Smythe instead of Smith because he's taking the piss out of Karl saying Clive Warren instead of Owen. He also says Jack Nicholsonhouse and Morgan Frooman - all people who don't exist, because Karl's such an idiot he'd fill his film cast with nonexistent actors

    Karl talking about saving bugs in the pool is actually a beautiful thing. I've done it. It reminds me that all life is connected and we're all stuck on this rock together...just trying to survive. It's actually very meditative and Zen to take time and effort to help a creature so much lower on the food chain, knowing they could never repay you.

    Karl's idea is based off the fact that seemingly healthy and behaviorally normal people have been discovered with large portions of their brains missing. Also, the brain as modules concept is not widely accepted anymore. The brain is much more of a distributed network than was previously understood. The adult brain also has much more plasticity than was previously recognized. I think Karl was more informed than she is...

    It's a great shame that Karl has kind of disappeared from the limelight.
    There should be a Karl Pilkington game, with Karl on the development team, and base it on his journey through life, with an idiot abroad, and moaning of life series as inspiration for parts of it. As mini games, some of his insane stories from the Ricky Gervais show.
    There is an unofficial game called the wonderful world of Karl Pilkington, which someone developed for ps4, I believe, but it seems it is just running around as karl to different locations hearing snippets of things from the Ricky Gervais show.

    • @DovahFett
      @DovahFett ปีที่แล้ว

      He didn't want to be in the limelight anymore. He hates the expectations that audiences have of him. Whether its making another show or podcast, he doesn't like feeling compelled to do something just because the masses want more. He also doesn't think that what he says is actually funny, but that being in a room with Ricky made it funny. I don't necessarily agree with him, but it's his choice after all.

    Ricky has said that part of why they stopped doing the podcast was because they were too dismissive of Karl. They generally knew he was wrong, but didn't know enough themselves to figure out what he meant, or what the original fact was before it got filtered through Karl. Maybe they should have borrowed the QI elves to supply background info, or have expert guests on to talk about a single topic.

    “Weetabix” is what Ricky shouted, a type of branded breakfast cereal. Relevant to the decisions that Ricky suggested what would happen when 2 separate brains are joined together.
    Same at 20:10 Ricky saying “Shredded Wheat” another brand of cereal.

    I don't think Karl's movie idea is entirely beyond the realms of plausible. Could easily have been the storyline of some 70's or 80's low budget sci-fi horror movie. Might have been a rubbish movie but even in the best movies you sometimes have to suspend your rationality and let certain things go.
    Karl as ever being super resilient to Ricky and Stephen's derision. The dude just carries on regardless.

    if one takes a closer look at karls ideas from this episode and others, they have, given big changes obviosly, in some way or another came to fruition by others. There's are a few episodes of Black Mirror and a handful of movies that I can think of that Karl foretold the stories of in some capacity. Remeber the time Karl suggested putting on a pair of sunglasses that would create an augmented virtual overlay of ones surroundings to hide all the graffiti and stuff.
    Black Mirror Episodes that came after this podcast that somewhat evolves on Karls ideas:
    - White Christmas (Special)
    - Playtest
    - The Entire History of You
    - Be Right Back
    - Crocodile

  • @stemid85
    @stemid85 ปีที่แล้ว

    The idea of having two people in one body is much older. Karl just reimagined it with brain surgery instead of magic or other sci-fi. And obviously it wouldn't work because the brain stem is grown out of the top of the spine, not merely connected like wires.
