    Simon It means using the adaptor tool but not the Allen key but you can get a socket with that hex style and size head on and then use it on a torque wrench. It's how JLR install them. if you don't have the tool I'm sure hand tight as much as you can do will be close.

    Simon…… I prefer the spare wheel system that I have on my 1990 Range Rover!!!!
    It’s inside the vehicle on the left hand side of the luggage compartment!!!!
    It’s bolted to a left rear structural member!!
    The spare wheel is covered with a carpet cover and is locked in the bloody boot!!!
    Totally secure!!!!
    Technology….. a step too far!!!
    Regards Ian 👨‍🎤🇳🇿👍😎🍸🍸🍸

      100% agree - a simple know on the inside of the door would solve this problem overnight - no problem with the wheel outside the door but the release should be inside the locked car !

    Purchased one of these after returning a wheel lock from a Powerful UK competitor having found that it consisted of a Bulldog lock and a series of spacers/washers, all of which came across a bit of a bodge considering the price.
    For anyone in the market for a wheel lock, the Powerful UK or LR versions are the only decent solution

      @@L663 Hi Simon, long time subscriber and I feel bad for opting for the LR solution over yours. I initially fell for the ‘premium’ lock description of the alternative… then lost all confidence in the aftermarket options having received something so amateur. Keep up the great work.

    Hello Simon…I’m sure most determined thieves will get past anything so why not remove the problem by JLR fitting only a “ space saver” basic steel wheel painted red, yellow or pink….it would get people home then fix up your damaged tyre/wheel but outside on the car you have a fairly rubbish wheel that nobody would want to steal…you could add a spacer to bring a narrow wheel forwards to look like a full size one under the cover! 🧐😬😃😃😃😃

    Hi Simon. Love the videos.
    I’m struggling to locate one of these (VPLEW0164).
    I can’t seem to find anything on the Land Rover parts site. My dealer can’t locate it either. They’ve told me it’s for 19” alloy max.
    Where did you find the page showing the various part numbers to wheel styles?
    Also where did you manage to obtain the black VPLEW0164 from?

      They are not on the Land Rover parts system - they are like contraband - its really odd.
      Here is the link to the document I found - on Land Rovers Accessory website.

      @@L663 To be fair, you do a huge amount of really helpful and interesting investigative work, so you can't be wasting time reading Land Rover's every word. I was able to pour over the instructions for this wheel lock because it's the only accessory that I own...while I await delivery of the actual vehicle...hopefully sometime soon 😆

    I'd imagine those little cover parts that cover the wheels nut are no match for an angle grinder exposing the nuts. Still I'm sure JLR have tested this possibility although we'll never know for obvious reasons.

    Simon. Quick question. You fitted the new lock without the existing locking wheel nuts re fitted. Is it not possible to do so or does the new device not fit with them still installed. Just every bit of security helps or delays anyone trying to steal the spare?

      Sorry Simon “I need to go to Specsavers” Other Optometrist’s are available. I saw 2 blank holes and wrongly assumed that was the missing locking wheel nuts as opposed to the blank holes normally left vacant.

    Sorry to ask an off topic question, but do you know if it's possible to retrofit the centre console fridge? I had to reject my P400 X due to strange irregular vibration at motorway speeds, and it would really help with finding a replacement if I can work out what things can be added later (even if LR says it's not possible..)

    • @L663
      @L663  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am pretty sure the fridge is retrofittable - mechanically i cant see it being a problem and electrically also not a problem - it just has a single feed wire - i can send you the wiring diagram if needed. Nothing complex

    • @system11yt
      @system11yt 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@L663 I found a company who do retrofit them, the parts are quite expensive (all original) so that's at least opened the door to more options. If only you could retrofit the folding roof, I rather like them and it's very uncommon.
