I completely agree with hunting small game like pigeons, squirrel, pheasant etc but they must be taken ethically where legal and all consumed, my rule is if you shoot it you eat it simple as that, I just don't understand how people can kill for fun

It makes it a taboo subject for the public. As with most niche hobbies a vast majority are responsible, there is always a very minor few that give it a bad reputation. Some people were killing protected wildlife and wasting the meat then posting posting on groups of the animals suffering. They shot swans, fox and a baby deer.
I've been doing this since 2016 and what a hobby watching the sport go from strength to strength meeting the likes off asa Wilson john jeffries best builders in the UK. ang then you get idiots who do cruel things and give us real bad press hope to God are sport x hobby isn't ruined by some arsehols killing wildlife that they don't eat take easy pal thanks for your kind words

All this while there's talk of trying to get it into the Olympics.... Best thing everyone as part of the community can do is condemn the actions of any idiots involved in wrong doing.

It really is the most accessible shooting sport and pretty much the safest for back garden use there is, just basic safety marksmanship principles is all we need (sounds suspiciously like common sense)
great message Mark and right on point.............we here in the USA have a bit looser regs than some abroad, but we too can still lose out just like has happened in Canada, Australia, etc. All of us GOOD stewards of the sport need to set the example as leaders for others to follow and learn from. Try not to chastise / berate them, but instead teach them right and wrong, empowering them to simply do better.

In Holland, slingshots are banned and heavy fines are imposed, even if you only have one with you. You don't even have to shoot. Also banned in Denmark. Anything that can discredit the sport in any way will slowly but surely lead to stricter regulations and even bans.
@@ATOMark yes. I'm a slingshot guy. Last my Harley was shot with ball bearing. I have huge dent I my front mud guard. All I can find it was 8mm Ball bearing next to my bike.

Its so easy for those guys to lose their slingshots because their government has already stripped them of their rights. It's an uphill battle.
