Excellent post! So refreshing seeing someone like you talking about these important aspects of not just photography but creativity in general.... and creativity is not just art, it is how we approach ways to improve in doing the things we love. As someone said: "mood follows action..." is not the other way around! Looking forward the next post mate! Greetings from NYC! :)

Just wanted to add a comment on how helpful this advice was. I made an effort to try and shoot for 30 days in a row (had a few days under my belt prior to this video dropping) and armed with my Gopro 11 I made a go out of it. Wound up filming by a surf camp for a few days and was eventually hired on to film video the last 2 weeks of camp. The pay wasn't crazy but for an hour of filming + hour of editing a day for 6 days in total it was enough for me to buy an AxisGo water housing for my iPhone. Still a long way to go until I can afford something for my 6600 but putting in the hours has not only improved my game tremendously but has allowed me to take the next step in my journey. Thanks again Tom!

Great video! I like this process as you (the photog) have to adapt to the shot (conditions, lighting, etc) rather than trying to make things fit into a certain vision. Some of the best 4x4 racing shots that I took were during those times where conditions were terrible.

So true, those unique moments tend to happen for small windows when the weather is poor and thats why they end up been so different... thanks for your comment and encourgement ... appreciate

Love your content man. Recently turned to being behind the lens instead of always trying to be in front of it and even though my equipment is pretty limited at the moment (GoPro in the water + Sony 6600 on land) I’m learning a ton. Looking forward to getting your water course once I can get a decent water housing

thanks Ledge!! translating your ocean skills to match up with the camera is a powerful advantage, I'm sure you will love it more and more as you get into it... keep in touch with any questions mate, Cheers

This is a great topic. It is a reminder that quantity is necessary for progress in all fields, and it's what Seinfeld (the comedian) calls "tonnage." Yeah, he's a controversial person in ways, but he has a serious work ethic tied to his view that making progress in stand-up comedy requires a near-daily writing habit, and he insists that this factor, tonnage, shows through in excellence in all fields.
