    Good test! Thanks. One question; Can you also use the Lester only for drive? So without the use of the leslie emultation? I am looking for a effect pedal for two thinks: to add some overdrive to the sound of my Leslie 122 (in this case I would like to use it as an effect in an effectloop between organ and Leslie. And I would like to use it without my Leslie (For live gigs)

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ciao, thanks to you for comment!
      unfortunately it is not possible to disable the cabinet emulation and use just the drive.
      if you need a preamp/drive the Lounsberry Tall&Fat or the Organ Grinder are great (both sounds better with the "fishpaper edition").
      but you would need a leslie simulator too...

    Hey Folks, Ventilator on sale...! :-)

    • @ThatsABiggon
      @ThatsABiggon 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. Darn, i would have taken it! The tremolo on this thing seems far too choppy (from the second or so of pure tremolo exhibited), not at all like a real Leslie (i have 3). ubiquitous distortion and vibrato chorus on the tremolo in demos is always a telltale for me. I still want to see a shoot out, but the Vent has a more natural/realistic tremolo (at 2 1/2X the price), but the upper notes on the vent aren't very sharp and the amp sim is a bit muddling at times.

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      at the moment my favorite is still the Burn...
      but... i still take a real leslie with me for rehearsal too :-))))

    • @a21gramm
      @a21gramm 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And inside in it a BURN. :--)

    • @ThatsABiggon
      @ThatsABiggon 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I won't consider the Burn because it has too much phase. Being born and raise on a Hammond/Leslie, I'm very critical of knock off Hammond/Leslie gear, but GSI's VB3 through a Ventilator is heaven.

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ThatsABiggon
      unfortunately the vent make everything sounds equal.
      see my video here with my C3 and a SK2: with the vent they are quite the same. but with a real Leslie they are definitely different.
      that's why I don't like the vent...

    How would I hook up the lester K to my B3 ? Is it basically a loop system, where I can go in and out ( 1/4inch jack ) via a trek box ? I guess you would need to have unbalanced line to run your unit.
    Thanks

      I have, on my C3, a standard audio jack out too.
      A good technician made it for me (this should be an easy job, I guess... I don't know about the exact way it was made, I just plug the normal jack cable and for me that's all 😁😁😁😁).
      I use a standard jack/jack cable for the 3300W leslie too.

      Ciao!
      I have a standard jack out from my C3 (a good tecnician can make it in 10 minutes - I'm not a tecnician -).
      Also, I saw a A100 with a leslie simulation connected directly to internal speakers, so yes, everything can be done.

    Great as always!
    How do you think the Lester stands up to the Strymon Lex?
    I can't decide which way to go.
    I can get a Lester G for €100 and the Lex is almost four times that. 🤔
    As you may or may not know I'm really in to the distorted sound.

      marcoballa I really don't like the Ventilator and the Burn is no longer avaliable...

    Ciao Marco. Scusa se ti disturbo nuovamente.
    Due richieste:
    1. Il Lester G ho letto che è pensato per chitarra più che per tastiera. Però ho notato che costa poco di più ed ha più funzioni del K. Dici che non va proprio per tastiera? Nel caso invece fosse compatibile potresti brevemente spiegarmi le funzioni in più rispetto al K?
    2. Che mi dici del Nux Roctary? È valido?
    Grazie mille e scusa ancora il disturbo. Auguri di buon anno :-)

    How do you find the Lester K compares with the Neo Vent, Marco? It sounds like it's on a 'wide' mic setting here. I assume that is adjustable? Not bad sounding for the price difference.

    Ciao Marco, mi chiamo Lorenzo e sono un appassionatissimo di musica prog blues e rock anni 60 e 70.
    Possiedo un Hammond L100 non del tutto funzionante e così col gruppo utilizzo una Roland JunoG per simulare gli organi.
    Ho sentito diverse prove su TH-cam di questo Lester K e mi ha entusiasmato.
    Volevo sapere una tua opinione a riguardo e in particolare ti chiedevo se si può:
    1. Utilizzare la rotazione e contemporaneamente l'overdrive
    2. Passare con un solo pulsante dal fast al slow o al niente a piacere senza essere vincolati ad accendere e staccare continuamente.
    Grazie mille e complimenti.

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Grazie a te per essere passato di qui :-)
      Il lester k è probabilmente attualmente il miglior compromesso qualità/prezzo, parlando di simulazione leslie.
      Ci sono pedali più credibili ed efficaci (ventilator e soprattutto burn) ma costano di più.
      Sul Lester k (come su tutti i pedali del genere) puoi attivare/disattivare l'effetto con uno switch.
      Entri in stereo e esci in stereo. Quando disattivato/bypass quel che entra esce senza alcuna modifica.
      Quando attivato puoi passare da slow a fast con l'altro switch. Tenendo premuto lo stesso switch per due secondi ottieni l'effetto della tromba e del rotore in stop.
      Puoi regolare quantità di overdrive e altre cose.
      Tutto molto semplice

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ovviamente quando attivi il lester k (o altra simulazione leslie esterna) la simulazione leslie interna della tua tastiera deve essere disattivata! :-)

    • @marcoballa
      @marcoballa  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the effect given by the microphones when they are really close to the cabinet. it's a very complex sound effect, not easy to recreate.
      you can "feel" (with real leslie and real microphones) the horn in very different ways depending on the mics position (in particular if they are closer to the cabinet).
