Beautiful watch indeed. 41mm fits just well on your wrist in my opinion. This is one watch you can wear with fornal or informal outfits and it will still look great. Recently, just got the Omega Aqua Terra 41mm blue dial with 8900 movement. Next target, will be the Datejust 41mm. Good choice.

Wow didn’t realize this had so many views . My watch has a lot of scratches especially on the bracelet but still has that beautiful shine in the light. It really is mesmerizing even with the scratches.

Beautiful DJ41. That blue dial is the one to get. Your wife is a very wise woman. It’s a lifetime watch, start thinking about whom will inherit it lol. IMHO it’s a tad large but you can still totally pull it off. Most younger watch enthusiast are liking the larger watch look these days. Rolex’s lume while not necessarily the brightest is formulated to glow 7-8 hours. Check it in the am, it should still be visible. True that 904 SS is a scratch magnet but don’t sweat the scratches too much. Don’t polish it unless it’s absolutely intolerable, you’ll lessen the value. The nicks and scratches are patina and character you put on it. Wear it and enjoy it. Great video clearly showing the look on a 6.4” wrist. This helps me decide between a 36mm and the 41 DJ. Its an EXCELLENT timepiece. Size is perfect, I wouldn't go any smaller. For guys 40mm is the smallest size I would recommend. It's an investment, it will hold value more than any comparable watch from another manufacturer. Enjoy!!!
I agree, one of the reasons why i chose the rolex was because it was reassuring to know that it'll hold it's value. I think 39-40mm would be the perfect size but the 41mm is really beautiful , the size really makes the dial and shiny metals pop a lot more.
Older people like small watches .. 34 mm.. today people like big watcher its true.. I think 36 is better for a daily wearer .. and 41 is nicer .. both work amazingly.. the difference is not too big ..if you wear this watch to work I would say go 36.. if you have a collection have the 41

One of the best all purpose whatches. Classy sporty elegant all at the same time. Your wife is so right, if better use this one watch alone for the rest of my life. I’m torn between this bezel vs the fluted one. Enjoy your watch.
It really is a good all-round watch which can be used anywhere and anytime. I found the fluted bezel quite blingy under the light especially at the 41mm size, however it is v.popular among the rolex fans who see the datejust as a fluted only watch.

The 39 is a good size. For some reason the trend has been towards huge watches but it’s just a phase. You want something moderate that has presence but doesn’t draw the eye to what a big watch you have. Also, scratches are just part of life. It sucks to lose that brand new look, but they just become part of the watches character. As you are in Japan did you ever consider a Grand Seiko? I recently picked one up and found it compares pretty favourable with my Rolex.
Thanks for your comment i agree with the having a size which has enough presence but doesn't overdo it. The bracelet of the watch is pretty scratched up now but it still has that glimmer! Grand Seiko was also an option, especially with how efficient and long the spring drive lasts, if Rolex didn't have the new movement in these d41's i would have been more tempted to go for the GS.
I agree but 41 isn't huge at all. It really depends on the size of your wrist, your build, and the overall design of the watch. When I see someone wearing some huge fashion watch where the case nearly extends past their wrist then its definitely cartoonish looking but otherwise I think the slight step up in size is appropriate, for most men 39-42mm is the sweet spot.
You did the right thing entirely. I'm a working stiff too, and about to make the same move. Blue/sticks, basic otherwise. Right there with you pal. It's fine on your wrist, BTW, they can suck it.

Beautiful watch but I think you’d been better served with a 36. The lugs on yours extend to the edge of your wrist. That’s typically a sign that it’s too large. Still a beautiful watch though. Did you try on the classic 36mm?
(Late) congrats to this buy. I have the black DJ41 - same results with scratches, but after almost one year, you don't even see them any more. They added character.... imho, at your wrist the DJ41 really appears big to me. Maybe the Explorer would have been a better choice for you?
Very nice. The blue dial is very popular. I have the same watch but with the white dial and also smooth bezel.The case size at 41mm is on the big size and sometimes, I have questioned if I made the right choice as it can look slightly big on my wrist as well but the 36mm was too small. I think the saving grace is that the case is also thin and that helps. I also.have an older Submariner and that is an awesome watch which allows me to switch back and forth. Congrats on your purchase. I am sure you will many years of enjoyment.
41 mm is just perfect, anything smaller than this is too small for a sleek datejust. Even women can rock 41 mm datejust especially with smooth bezel so you're good.

Thanks! Well my rolex is still running fine, it's gotten a lot of scratches here and there but you only notice it if you look closely, the watch still shines as if i bought it yesterday. I've been wearing it every day for 2 years now and only thing i don't like is the weight, it's a little bit on the heavy side for me.
Nice VDO. May I ask do you have any issues reading the time due to the high polish reflective surface and very thin hours and minute hands? I have heard a lot of people complain about this with the DJ. Thanks.
When i first got the watch i had some trouble reading the time because of the thin hands but you get used to it. I don't have much of a problem with the reflective surface, the dial looks very clear to me even in the sunshine.
An eye catcher but there’s a great deal of mirror polished steel going on that’s going to drive you nuts with hairlines and marks irrespective of careful wear. Still, it’ll come up like new once it goes in for a service. It does wear large but that’s the point, otherwise go 36 which still looks good - see Tony Sopranos 36 day date.
And as a collector I can assure you this is 100 times a sport watch. Its just a Bsatiful sport watch .. won't go into the details but oyster the hands the hour Mark's the metal bracelet eveyrhjng about it is s sport watch

I'm astonished with the accuracy of the 2813 Asia movement fitted on my 'Datejust II' 41mm, smooth bezel, Oyster bracelet and black dial in this case. Superior by far of the genuine 'Oyster - Date' that I sold making a good business long time ago.
I heard actual size of this watch is less than 41mm at 39.5mm or just lite over 40mm despite the name. The width of the lugs also factor into the overall perception of size.

I would go for the jubilee if you have many watches and for oyster if it will be one watch

Get both! Blue on the Smooth/Oyster and Black on the Fluted/Jubilee.
Size is good, modern size is mostly 40 till 42. Don't worry it is a Rolex. Congrats and wear it in good health.

Eventually I'll probably buy a Rolex (used or new) and currently I'm torn between the Datejust 41 and Explorer 39.
I like this oyster over the jubilee, just seems more masculine and sporty and the jubilee looks like its for women.

That lume will last all night. 100%. Try it at night in the dark with your eyes adjusted. It isnt as weak as you think
