You should make a video of all special skills ingame. this tutorial doesn't show all of them properly. For example, phantom rush isn't even shown fully the tutorial ends before it is fully executed
I kind of dig the idea of Sonic having projectile attacks. I know that Shadow mainly does that, but I feel like Sonic can also pull it off himself. It adds a little bit of diversity along with his Melee.
he did have sonic wind in adventure 2 and a projectile in Battle, and probably others i can't remember. it fits
I always feels like using a machine gun when using the sonic boom attack

Not only that but with how fast Sonic is he could definitely manipulate the air and use it as an attack force

Cross Slash: WE ARE NOT GIVING THE FASTEST CHARACTER IN THE GAME A PROJECTILE.

They could have left energy blasts for super form only, except sonic boom kicks, which just makes sense more than normal sonic phantom rush

@@wavesky_pv sonic should have projectile attacks in base regardless. He's been albe to use them sense rush and battle so it makes sense for him to be able to use them here as well. Especially considering he has a direct link to the chaos force and was able to use chaos control with a fake emerald
Hopefully they stay with this gameplay style of sonic and improve upon it more

Haven’t finished the game yet, but I REALLY hope he doesn’t lose his new powers. Although, sadly, it seems unlikely that he’ll keep them. Whenever he gets a new power or weapon, he usually loses it by the end of the game, like with Time Break and Speed Break in Secret Rings, Excalibur in Sonic and the Black Knight, and his Werehog form in Unleashed. To maintain the status quo.

With a moveset like this, Sonic should be in a SEGA All Star Fighting Game with MVC mechanics.
Makes sense than being in Smash all the time. His Frontiers movesets would be perfect for SEGA Fighterz
If there is a Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax 2 or Project X Zone 3 then he should be in it with that kind of moves

One time my phantom rush glitched out and Sonic was just standing there while all the clones were demolishing a Caterpillar and when the explosion cleared Sonic was just doing his idle looking at me like "It's not a bug, it's a feature"
He really pulled out a Sonic 3D Blast with that glitch

I feel like some of these attacks (mainly the projectile ones) should deplete the boost gauge, it'd make sense based on how they're activated by air boosting (and it would make them less broken/spammable)

My favorite moves are the Phantom rush, Sonic boom, wild rush, homing shot and cyloop. i cant wait to utilize these attack moves when i get the game on Friday. And i almost forgot the cyclone kick cross slash

Just dodge (sidestep button while locked on or in the air) and homing attack during or shortly after the dodge.

Funny how none of you know that Sonic Boom attack is just the Sonic wind from lost world on the 3ds, but it's called Boom maybe because of it's rapid fire attack? Either way people bash Lost world and Forces but lot of mechanics are learned from both those games thrust into this one. Sega really knows how to take the worse and make the best of it. 😊

Misinformation and misconception.. 😂 Sonic been using Sonic Wind since Sa2 the same game Shadow came out. He also used it in Battle AND Sonic Lost World 3ds. Sonic fans has no braincells.
Cyclone Kick has to be some variation of the Blue Tornado from Heroes and 06
I know this is about base sonic, but I wanted to point something out somewhere and this seems like the best place
There's a really wierd move u can do as super sonic, to trigger it u must be boosting through the air and hold down the button or key that normally activates sonic boom
What this will trigger is a move that will make super sonic turn while flying slowly with a cool posture
The actual use of this move is not really clear, as all it does is make u turn slowly tho I can see its uses
Its a move I feel like barely any people know about as I've never seen someone else use it or mention it
In the new sonic 3 movie. I want the fight coordinators to incorporate some of Sonic’s moves from frontiers.
Like imagine sonic and shadow’s final confrontation is like this.

The one thing I hate is that some of the moves assigned to the X button in this tree overrides the drop dash in combat. Did anyone else experience that issue? I think it's when you activate the spin slash.
Some of the moves feel out of place for Sonic like Cross Slash where he just shoots x beams. But the Cyloop and its variants fit well. Wish some had elements like a flaming homing attack like if he had the flame shield from S&K3 and it sets enemies on fire with a status effect. Maybe even electric or ice attacks that shock or freeze enemies.
Maybe if the slashes were green than it could have been sonic shooting out chaos based energy blasts. (on sonic battle for the game boy advance there's a healing function that uses chaos energy as a way to heal for almost every character except tails who uses a heal drone or eggman who can't heal at all.) My main point is the color of the healing is green

I'm struggling with wild rush.
I was as well. Tap the attack button as soon as you dodge. That's been working for me consistently.
I’m having a hard time on how to perform a wild rush the first time I was able to do it, but I didn’t know what I was doing

Sonic’s speed is wildly inconsistent, he’s pretty much just as fast as he needs to be. In this game at least, he can literally replicate the Cyan-laser wisp’s technique in the sumo fight, and move faster than the light dash according to the speed-o-meter.
Unleashed SD’s boost system would fit this gameplay better.

i feel like phantom rush is out of place. sonic boom got a much more realistic animation where sonic throws fast kicks which causes the projectiles to come out. phantom rush feels like chaos spear but without the chaos powers. it feels like it comes out of nowhere

These moves look so budgeted. Sonic legit freezes in the air while doing some of them, and most of the others are so stiff. The number of moves is small and quickly got uncreative. Moves in Unleashed puts these moves to shame and there were way more.
But the overall combat in this game is years better than in Unleashed.
The combat can be as fast and different as you allow it to be.
Just because there were more moves in Unleashed doesn't necesarily mean the combat's better. Like- i prefer Frontiers' combat system more, because it's more fast paced than Unleashed. So you're literally just acting like one is much more superior than the other, when in reality, it literally just comes down to preferences.

I didn't even get into why that game has better combat or not but you interpreted I explained that somewhere anyway. Good job there and addressing why I felt the moves were lacking.

Yes, but lets face it, the only reason the werehog combat even exists is bc sega was like "Oh gow, kids like that, lets just make our own version but a bit watered down", frontiers combat while simple, is fast paced and fun, and one other thing, its a combat that actually feels from a sonic game, bc i dont think a casual gamer per say when thinking about sonic combat thinks about the werehog, prob sonic battle or something made up.
