I just received the Browning M1922 for Bahnpolizei U. S. Zone that I purchased from you this week that was part of this collection. After cleaning copious amounts of brown grease from this gun I have an absolutely stone mint pistol. A beautiful pistol and to make things even better I have a Bahnpolizei marked holster that I bought from you a few years back for the Browning M1922. Win/win.
Please don’t stop your enthusiastic commentary, as it heightens the anticipation... the story is worth the wait as it puts a personal factor in place. My best teachers were enthusiastic story tellers 👍🏽
Post WW2 law prohibited German police forces from using weapons of German manufacture which is why you see weapons from other countries marked for German police and security forces and also why Manuhrin manufactured P-38’s, PP’s and PPK’s.
I’m in Lebanon Pa. if I was just a little closer, I’d come clean these for free. What an awesome collection regardless of the damage. The history is still intact.
Sauer's are my favourite, nice to see so many of them! It's a shame about the damage, but now because of this, they at least, have become affordable to us mere mortals!
27:03min. SP stands for the German word ..Schwarzpulver.. that means..black powder.. so the gun is prooft for black powder and should only be used with! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
I love the history, I will buy a copy of your book. I am also looking forward to the listings on your web site. Katrina was a horrible event. Thanks you and your fine crew for doing the work. 👏🇺🇸
Great collection. Personally, I love that they're not all perfect. It's a shame that it happened, but those guns are just the way they are now and it's all part of a guns story and past. I love them all. Not just the perfect ones. Sometimes moreso with the imperfect ones honestly. Can make for a great shooter, etc.
That would have been Lake Ponchetrain, but it was flood control levees that were breached by the intense rainfall rather than overflow from the Lake. I find it hard to believe that any bank had a vault that was underwater for a month. I also find it hard to believe that the National Guard kept rightful owners away from any commercial area for a month. All the severe flooding occured in the 4th Ward , and the commercial and retail sections of the Ward were dewatered relatively quickly once the Corps of Engineers got their giant pumps set up, generally within a week after the passage of the storm. The residential areas closer to the 17th Street levee break were underwater for the whole ten days I was there, so I don't know how long it took before they were dewatered. This was pretty much the ghetto area of New Orleans, and those people weren't treated well by those in charge. I was there as part of a FEMA team out of California. I spent most of my time in communications since that was my specialty, but I did have to ride patrol a few times, both from boats and vehicles, so I think I saw most of the area. A gun wouldn't have to be underwater for long before rust set in once it was taken out of the water. It was hot and incredibly humid, so it was almost impossible to dry anything out and keep it dry unless you had a dehumidifier cabinet. With no power in most of the area for over a week, I can see why he'd have damage to his guns. It was a really rotten ten days there, and something I never want to do again. It took weeks for all the skin tears, lacerations, and gasoline irritation on my hands, arms, and legs to heal just from refilling the generator gas tanks every four hours.
Some beautiful stuff there and a shame they got damaged. But this always the danger with hoarding. These things are mechanical marvels and should be not be buried in vaults wait to die.
That percussion pistol at the end made me think of duelling pistols. Sword duelling was popular among many in the SS, they took pride in scars specially in the face. So one of them getting a pair of duelling pistols made for show or use in a traditional duel does seem like a plausible explanation to me;-) Maybe it has a twin, could be worth a little more investigation before selling it. By the way love your videos.
Yo siempre guardo mis armas dentro de bolsas de plástico con aceite y bien cerradas. Una lástima enorme el daño hecho a esta colección tan formidable por la humedad y la sal.
Maybe some will be "shooters" instead of safe queens? If they funtions well, but rust may have weaken springs and other small parts, let a gunsmith check them out first.
Don related to me the sad story of the bank safe deposit boxes. Yes, many banks located their safe deposit departments on the lowest level. And his bank was inundated with salt water and other damaging fluids. He lamented that they would not allow him in immediately to salvage. A similar event happened in St. Louis during the great flood of 1993. A bank in South St Louis favored by many thrifty minded families had its safe deposit in the basement/lower level. And it was flooded was the tributary River Des Peres overflowed its banks. And stayed flooded for almost a month.
Buddy of mine got a lot of them like 2 years ago from down there. P38s lugers radoms . One side was just fucked on like all the guns but yeah they were cheap then . Like 200 or less each
Maybe was 4 to 5 yrs ago. But same basic story behind them. Bank vault storage deal. Guess a friend of his who is a ria regular knew about guns down there. Rest is history. I personally saw 50 to 70 pistols all damn near perfect on one side the other side pitted or worse from saltwater. Damn shame.
I have a 43 byf..no proof marks on the right side of the slide..all numbers matching everywhere..i think nickel plated..looks chrome..black grips..all other markings are there..missing proof marks don't look to be sanded off..just looks like it never got proof inspection marks..picked it up in gun shop where seller was was young guy who wanted to sell grandfathers war items so I heard n saw info first hand..what do you think the deal is with no proof marks on right slide?
Good question. I see Capt. papers from more Privates than any other rank. But of course there were more Privates than officers. However, If your rank was high enough you didnt concern yourself with getting permission.
Maybe this is your most wonder collection ... of all .. Hi from Macedonia, we have off the WW2 on every basemant or roof ... :))) We have a lot of guns, is something like a tradition, of grandpa rifle, of grandma gun hahahhaa ... you are so cool ! Stay like this ! We support you and maybe one day you gonna come over here to sold you something ...Becouse realy we have a lot of WW1 & WW2 the Partizans, Vojvodi and staff like those . TNX!
I wish my country had normal laws for competition shooters. Getting a 9mm gun takes all sorts of papers and what not, if the allow buying, most likely it would have to be at the club and not my home. Soldiers and rich people of course can do what they want like having assault rifles and similar that is otherwise strictly forbidden.
@@joshuagibson2520 I'm from EU, most states here have similar laws when it comes to weapons. When living in France pressure wasn't that hard because at least farmers could have .22 and similar, Austria allows having shotguns, Swiss also has exception. I have to hide airgun when walking to a range with airgun inside case. Well, without a car i wouldn't make 100m without somebody calling police, let alone going on the bus with it. Regulation is good to a point because we don't want crimes like in the US but it is very hard to say where is the limit.
I just came from new Orleans would I've been awesome to meet you also I have came in to contact of a victory in the 150000 serial number range can you tell me anything about it

The grease on some of these guns probably saved them from becoming rusty after Katrina. Better to clean out grease, than rust.
That's a fact. I thought the same. Bless that grease!
Nice video! That's definitely a large acquisition.
What a collection! Heartbreaking to see so many damaged, though. Especially when you can tell an effort was made to pick up great examples.
Epic collection. Looking forward to a closer look. Glad that some were salvageable.
Use water and airtight boxes for Your collection, and have them well lubricated.
Great video. I will look forward to you visiting the WW II museum.
Absolutely sad that some were damaged to the point that they were, still nice to see them though.
Sauer's are my favourite, nice to see so many of them! It's a shame about the damage, but now because of this, they at least, have become affordable to us mere mortals!
What a great collection. Unfortunate for Katrina. I love those little 25s and 32s
Love the collection!

Outstanding video and presentation.
Please bring some of these to the show of shows in July.
Damn it kind of breaks my heart seeing those guns and such horrible conditions

make sure you take the restored PT Boat ride .... fantastic !!!
I certainly hope that the bank that held these treasures compensated the owner!

God rest his pistol loving soul.

That's what I would collect if I could. But a variety of every WW2 small arms I could get. And WW1. German made would be my main abjective.

You are getting pretty good at this TH-cam thing Tom
is anyone else going (to themselves) "700 guns.....how much does it cost to buy and ship 700 guns?"
Tom is the gun enthusiasts version of a Drug Dealer
Def, DEF go back to the WW II museum, long before the 16 oz. hurricanes.

What a mega collection, shame Katrina nearly ruined many of these rare pistols.

was it a lot easier for an officer to bring back guns than the average GI?

Stick to guns. Geography is out of your field. Lake Charles is about 120 miles west.

I could hardly watch after you started showing the damage. Just Awful! Shooters now. Hope they're still sound.
Dude just show the guns
