      Whats the difference between robotic and automatic cleaners

    • @SwimUniversity
      @SwimUniversity  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There are 3 different types of automatic pool cleaners: pressure-side, suction-side, and robotic. The main difference is that robotic pool cleaners run independently from your filter system. The other two types rely on your filter system to be running to power them with either water pressure or water suction. Robotic pool cleaners are electric, self-contained units.

    I’ve been in the pool industry for about 10 years. Building and remodeling Pools. I’ve had two of these vacuums myself and I’ve had many customers that have had them, Dolphins robotic pools cleaners are a very good choice. You are really getting what you pay for with these vacuums.

      I just purchased the sigma and it keeps getting stuck, leaves huge parts of the pool dirty and the light starts flashing in about 15 or 20 minutes of cleaning. I'm still trying to understand why this vacuum cost me almost over 1600 $ plus tax.

      It stuck into the wall, stay there for hours. Debris pick-up hole is always packed up with leaves, despite of the fact that debris chamber is almost empty. I hate Dolphin pool cleaner, I paid over $800.
      Aquabot I had before Dolphin, it suck’s up all debris, sands……everything…..and it doesn’t stuck into the wall. It turns itself when it hit the wall. It cleans the pool floor so well, I don’t have to do anything.

    I am a new in ground vinyl pool owner. It's an L shape pool with a tanning ledge and bench steps. My builder included a Polaris 280. They said the Polaris should not be able to reach the steps because it would damage the liner at the step edges. So to keep it from reaching the steps based on where they located the return they had to cut the hose so short that my cleaner will only reach half the pool. It will not clean half the shallow end or half the deep end. Should I really be concerned about the steps or can I lengthen the hose so the cleaner will actual do it's job.

    I bought a cheap, rechargeable one.. makes it about 1/2 up wall... I drop it in daily and it runs for 2 hours, when battery is low it goes to the side of the pool where a floating string with a handle allows me to pull it up. It does a really good job, but I also have a rechargeable stick vacuum cleaner that I use when I go in to catches creases.I ACTUALLY LIKE THE STICK VACUUM AND SINCE I ALWAYS HAVE PLENTY OF TIME, MY POOL IS ALWAYS SPOTLESS WHEN THE COVER IS ROLLED OFF AND PEOPLE JUMP IN. MYABE ONE DAY I WILL INVEST MORE THAN $250 IN A ROBOT.. BUT FOR NOW.. IT DOES MORE THAN I NEED !

    Great video!
    Two questions:
    With the mapping function, does it only work for one pool? We have a main pool and a baby pool. Could we use it on both?
    Second, the baby pool has a new zero depth entry (and a max depth of 2 ft). Would a robotic pool cleaner work in this, or would it drive out?

    • @SwimUniversity
      @SwimUniversity  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great questions. And I don't know the answers to them. I would contact the manufacturers of the cleaners you're looking in to and ask those specific questions. I would be that smart robots would detect when they're out of water. The mapping, however, might only work for one pool once it learns.

    so the other type of cleaner just doesn't exist? righto then... I must be imagining the one in my pool.
    also, the cost of these things is INSANE! $1000 Australian... minimum.
    with my mechanical filter attached unit, it just sits in the pool, and cleans every day... I am not sold on a robotic cleaner I have to take care of... kinda defeats the purpose IMO it might clean well, but it's a lot of mucking about.
