so IU has changed to OBU? If I use IU now, should I switch to OBU?
because this is the first time I want to work in sg. so which one should i use? IU or OBU?
confirm this one check your speed everywhere in the near future
yup awhile back they have alrdy installed sensors all around and more cameras in time waiting for this device to officially be launched.
Thanks guys.. great video… missed my old bike…memories remain..
Awesome review ! Very Detailed!🔥👌🏻
Good luck during rainy season, see if you can still scroll the menu.
The old mechanism was also not waterproof, and it shorted out the unit when water entered inside the slot cashcard unit.Same old slot insert cashcard type for this whatever garbage. 2.0 unit
just make people waste time to replace it when rain water get in
With the speaker holes and the card part and has no cover compared to the old one. Time will tell if it can keep water out and prevent water damage in our heavy thunderstorm weather...
Did they provide ram mount for sport bikes?
What if I modify with a connector? Intrusive af for the info clutter already on my adv bike..Dun care about warranty...will the obu still function as normal?
why cant we have the two piece system the cars have
will the new OBU allow us to use vCashCard, ie not having a card inserted? It would be bad if it forces the use of a physical card, as those will sure be be stolen
Hello just a question, is it possible if I remove my OBU IU ?
Your presentation is cool and informative.
I am actual more convinced convinced by netiziens that it is suitable to be installed in cars
Dont you think that the obu attracted more direct heat in open air environment then in the car.
Why use black colour casing don't you think it will absorb more heat.
Heat is the excuse?
Innovation should make improvement on its functions and understand user need and concern. Can't it be made even smaller like card size.
Just food for thought
Did they connect the obu to ignition ? Wait battery flat !
3 wires, 2 to battery and 1 ignition signal wire
For the New OBU, do they connect it to the ignition or the battery? Worried about it draining the battery if you don’t ride the bike for awhile
Looks like it connects to ignition.. when turn key, it starts the OBU..
Both. Connection to the ignition will activate the screen when ignition is turned on. Connection to the battery will keep the OBU running 24/7 for updates and real time tracking I supposed. The plan forward is to charge based on distance travelled in the future. These are the infos I got when received my bike with OBU installed.
@@Nawzayssssmeans the obu is draining the battery
@@reddotcycling6971 I installed my OBU and checked with the technicians. They mentioned the current draw is very low. (Not sure how true this it) Havent tried and really test how long my bike can last without starting the engine.
both because OBU needs to be kept online. battery drain is an issue and details are not made public by LTA
I heard from some riders that you don’t have to wait for letter to arrive can just walk in is that true ??
Motorists who wish to install early can call LTA Call Assist Service (6377-2255)
this system is wired up to battery power 24/7 and 3rd wired to ignition so whenever you turn on the system detects the vehicle is turned on.
Also it's owners responsibility to maintain your battery voltage to the OBu. Lay up bikes or long term repair bikes be careful .
Bro any idea how much power OBU draws from the battery when the motorcycle is off?
@rasifsummers5155 did a draw test and found there was no significant draw which will cause parasitic drain..for now. But the system is wired as such to allow any updates of the software any time of day.
Hot wiring or bypassing is a big risk as it is programmed to flag in the main hq if power is somehow disrupted and whenever a vehicle is being powered up it will be detected as live.
Qualm is owner or shop is responsible for maintaining the internal battery power of the unit when left the vehicle is left unused for long periods of time which is unfair to the owners as the internal batt has a small buffer for self maintenance when bike is not In use.
So just imagine during lockdown our vehicles were left sleeping in the mcsp or cp for so long.
It runs on 2 systems one for Radio frequency and the other GPS comms.
@@selleys9150Thank you bro for the in depth information regarding the OBU.
Much appreciated.
Hope the motorcycle battery is able to sustain the parasite drain from the battery if the owner is inactive for at least 2 weeks and unable to power up the bike. (I.e on holiday overseas etc)
The previous IU drained my battery in a matter of 3 days when wired to the battery.
New OBU can use back old IU metal bracket?
They will try to use back the IU bracket that you currently have. Mine was rusty, hence the change
WHY LTA not bother to explain car can’t use the same OBU as motorcycle???
bro when you going to review your scooter? thinking of getting one
Farhan, what bike are you riding now ah? Any plans for the review?
SYM Cruisym 300. Will review when ready
@@tambakoverlanders Hi Farhan, how do you feel from the NC750 to a 300cc bike? Do you miss the power or you think it is sufficient enought?
tamagotchi technology
do we have to pay to get the new obu?
Installation is free for all motorcycle owners, if done within the two-month period stated in your notification letter. You’ll get your letter when it’s your turn to install the OBU.
They allowed Ram mount?
bro u forgot to censor at 5:31
Thanks for the informative video. This new OBU for bikes seems rather sleek. But for the car's version is facepalm.
Used up battery even faster.😮
they had to fix something that wasn’t broken 💀
I have a problem with this. There's no anti theft function :(
Pointless ah this OBU thing, tot it would be cardless at first due to its bulk
It will be cardless in future. Can pair it with credit or debit card.
Blerrrhhh veto
We’re going backwards
Guys remember ah you all voted for this.
the new obu look very lowend . like make in china .3 for $10.
Eh? No fasting?
Alamakkk 😅😅😬
So high tech but cannot touch water. Heavy rain or you wash your bike, OBU dead. Talking from my experience. 4 days old obu dead due to water sippage. Heard from someone, 5 time change obu because ride in the rain.
Bodek gamen
1:25 Slightly??? And what's the speaker for for riders? To play that gimmicky music 3:37? Lastly, we dun need such a BIG screen for vehicles, just use this small touch screen will do. I salute your positiveness though.
This new OBU is LTA's 3 steps backwards, bad design, back dated Tech, total waste of money.
Someone need to develop a switch for this thing. So can off when you need to…if not ah… speed can see, location also can check. Later like the stupid simply go ezlink… troublesome sia this new erp bullshit
Why can't they just scan the car/motorcycle plate to charge the vehicle owner? This bulky thing looks really outdated and backward!
because instead of them maintaining gantries to do this, the OBU is the one doing the collection of data and sending it back to LTA
