This may be TMI, but Dehd loner in particular has really got me through these past few months. My mom's schizophrenic and has been having a psychotic episode for too long (I'm her caretaker). I just blast their music and pretend I'm "running from my cards" and that "I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine" thank you guys.
FriedIcecreamIsAReality brands like Kramer, Jackson, and Dean were used by a lot of late 80s and early 90s metal bands. Hair metal, trash, and other faster guitar playing. “Shredder Strat” or “Super Strat” were a common nickname to these kind of guitars.
Guitarist is way ahead of his time, as he played Super Strat (which is usually used to shred in metal) instead of some Jaguar, Mustang or Jazzmaster or other kind of hipsterish guitar.
this is the first thing that i noticed, but you can play anything on it, why not. It is a bit like SG, what is most people idenitfy with ACDC, but you can play indie on it, why not.
Listen call me dramatic but Dehd saved me. This past year's just completely turned my already awful mental state over on its head and just this amazing, beautiful recording alone helps tune it out and helps me calm down. This band's made me feel so much love and energy in times where it feels like I don't have any.
I absolutely love you guys...I get a feeling of nostalgia as I hear so many of my favorite bands in your style, vocals and melodies... so awesome! I was born in 1980 and grew up in (real) punk, grunge, alternative, classic rock... your a force to be reconed with and way better than a lot of the mainstream crap playing now... love the vibe you put off! Thank you for making kick ass music!
Cool band! I can see multiple hints of 80's Alternative/Post-Punk inspiration...but for the life of me(call me an old Gen X'er), I've never seen anyone play a Kramer for a 'clean' sound...ever...
I’m going to see them in October in SF I’m so excited! I found about them over 2020 pandemic and really enjoyed their music. Makes me feel like I’m in a movie 🥲🥲❤️❤️
I could totally see why people could hate them, I hate to say I found them kinda annoying but by the end of the set I've been playing it on repeat non stop, awesome stuff!!
I love that KEXP is doing this. Personally, I didn't need so many different angles of the players. This group in particular is interesting enough in one take. Still enjoyable.
A damn fine performance, great sound, great music, fun! (I accidentally found Dehd from their "Lucky" song/video; so great!) Somebody else below wrote it, but I like the words... "kind of surfy, but new".
Like so many others, I 'discovered' Dehd in 2020 with Flowers Of Devotion. Since then I've managed to catch them live here in Bristol, UK and am going to see them again on the 16th November.
It's so cool to listen to Emily for the first time, especially here! I've been following her for a while through instagram, she's a fantastic illustrator and tattoo artist
Eric Balla is revolutionary, everything about him is a juxtaposition, makes his playing more powerful. I want that guitar now and I never would’ve wanted it before
First song reminds me of that SNL Christmas song with Horatio Sanz, Chris Kattan, Jimmy Fallon and Tracy Morgan. "I don't care whatcha mama says, christmas time is neeear" She even stole their dance moves.
this band is fucking amazing, fabulous, love their vibe. I know they hate being called/compared to 80s and surf. But it's so there! GenX will relate to them. Totes feel a Siouxie and the Banshees vibe! xox
Emily might be my favorite vocalist right now, her voice isn’t just for singing it’s like a goddamn instrument.
You should check out Anna von Hausswolff and Kate Bush as well.
Her vibrato is so so good
Sounds completely put on and fake. It's not hard to sing like this lol
She just does really interesting things with her voice. Really good live too.
Just leaving this here whenever I come back to this vid.
0:03 - Loner
3:12 - Flying
6:52 - Disappear
9:15 - No Time
Thank you sir
The world needs more standing drummers
Zachary cole smith (DIIV) used to do that when he was the drummer for Beach Fossils
@@jessewalker8090 second that, moe tucker played standing up.
Check out the German band Die Artze
Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats)
Wow, this is really good. Love all the different things she does with her voice.
Reminds me of Siouxie Sioux
I’m so excited about how that’s actually her voice.
that voice reaches deep places in my soul
Not that good voice really
favorite album of 2020
I saw Dehd at SXSW 2019 and was transfixed. Their album is one my favorites this year. God I hope we can see them live before we die.
Seeing them tonight at Paper Tiger.
Here I am again, for the 1000th time
Ope and again
And again!

my heart goes out to u! wishing peace for ur mom and urself
@@kotareneesaint6465 thank you! And likewise, your reaching out means a lot.
Crystal you are awesome! Keep going! Music is great for our souls.
I feel you. A handful of songs is what got me through my dad's death last April
I’m my bedridden mom’s caregiver. It’s so hard! Sending you good vibes 😎💚!
Love this band so much! Flower of Devotion is such great album
So glad they’re getting more recognition
god I love the vocals so much. one of the best albums of 2020.
Needed something to motivate me for doing the dishes, Now I'm sad I don't have enough plates in the sink.
the people who designed that green guitar did not anticipate it being used for this kind of music
Why do you say that lol

it was only a matter of time for they to become the next big trend among hipster guitarists
this is the first thing that i noticed, but you can play anything on it, why not. It is a bit like SG, what is most people idenitfy with ACDC, but you can play indie on it, why not.
just discovered Dehd's Flower of Devotion - this performance is flawless ... I can't wait to see these guys live. thank you, KEXP
I love the shifting dynamics in their vocals. They always keep it interesting c:
this band is amazing. truly. is the fourth time in a row that i'm listening to this song and I still haven't had enough of it.

My favorite band of 2020! Love them ❤️
Love them so much! Down to earth and friendly
Dehd's performance here and recent album are both awesome. Thank you Dehd.
Instantly bought their newest album that's a goddamn keeper right there

Glad to see these guys get a major platform, ooze class
Just discovered, huge fan of Dehd , love this
I love this so much ❤️
Tha sound off that green guitar man sounds mint, think it's gonna set on fire after that performance 👽🤙🛸
Emily's lyrics/vocals and Jason's guitar are perfect. I like the understated drums too.
Here after watching their What's In my bag episode on Amoeba. Nice!!
FUCK YEEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
so much good music around these days, I love it
Cool band! I can see multiple hints of 80's Alternative/Post-Punk inspiration...but for the life of me(call me an old Gen X'er), I've never seen anyone play a Kramer for a 'clean' sound...ever...
I was think the music has some Cure influence and the vocals kinda like Til Tuesday. I like it.
I hear some Jesus and Mary Chain vibes on some songs. Great band on their own, regardless
I love this band so hard
I’m going to see them in October in SF I’m so excited! I found about them over 2020 pandemic and really enjoyed their music. Makes me feel like I’m in a movie 🥲🥲❤️❤️
Gorgeous performance 😍
This sounds like the 80s for me. Its so good!
they all met in a thrift store
Rehab.
Where they were buying those instruments and clothes... But seriously great band.
They were about to get rid of the hot topic section at Goodwill… then Emily walked in
… my love ❤️
you gotta love DEHD
@Mykowser i respect your opinion ;)
I could totally see why people could hate them, I hate to say I found them kinda annoying but by the end of the set I've been playing it on repeat non stop, awesome stuff!!
@@shaun2823 i absolutely love it
Yeah. No you don't.
I love that KEXP is doing this. Personally, I didn't need so many different angles of the players. This group in particular is interesting enough in one take. Still enjoyable.
I didn't need so many different angles of your mother in law last nite but you know I'm not complaining about it niggaw

Saw these guys open for Twin Peaks in Detroit, they were pretty good live
I went to that show just to see Dehd lol
Merlin L it was a good night
I heard some Twin Peaks influences so it's no surprise to me that they opened for them!
It's so cool to listen to Emily for the first time, especially here! I've been following her for a while through instagram, she's a fantastic illustrator and tattoo artist
She’s really good.

Fucking awesome!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Addicted to Emily's voice.
Eric Balla is revolutionary, everything about him is a juxtaposition, makes his playing more powerful. I want that guitar now and I never would’ve wanted it before
Jason Balla or Eric McGrady lol but now I can't help but imagine them as conjoined twins lol
Oh shit yeah Jason Balla 🤣
I love when she yodels 🥵
awesome band
this is pretty cool
Awesome
First song reminds me of that SNL Christmas song with Horatio Sanz, Chris Kattan, Jimmy Fallon and Tracy Morgan. "I don't care whatcha mama says, christmas time is neeear" She even stole their dance moves.
🧡
cool beans. VERY cool beans.
Love this and love Dehd. Quickly became a favorite band.
i love how polarizing this band is
The most polarizing thing about this band is the argument about whether or not they’re actually Death Grips
118 ❤️
they're great!
Buenisima !!!!!
DEHDD!
A band from pretty close but yet parallel universe.
where is flood ? :-(
These performances have been filmed so nicely, I love it. These guys seems like a parody of a band somehow tho lmfao
god damn theyre so fucking good
The thumbnail and the band's name made me think "hardcore punk", boy was I surprised! It's really good!
Schade, dass die trotz des grandiosen Albums so unbekannt sind. Danke Kexp für diese Empfehlung!
please visit germany, hamburg is a nice place to play some music. in lüneburg, students village;), it is even nicer to play music. so come around !!
this band is fucking amazing, fabulous, love their vibe. I know they hate being called/compared to 80s and surf. But it's so there! GenX will relate to them. Totes feel a Siouxie and the Banshees vibe! xox
