I mean no disrespect to any vocalist out there, but I have to say that Austin has THE most MANLY high tenor voice I have ever heard. Could listen to it all day. Love the piano arrangement too. Almost like a bagpipe drone on the bottom. Love it!
Totally agree. That is why I can't listen to the other a capella groups. Some counter tenors just sound too screechy. I prefer Austin's nice strong tenor sound.
@@charleneclaassen so true. I couldn't listen to Voiceplay until Earl left. No disrespect to him, I know a lot of people love him but to me he sounds like a screeching cat.
It's an absolutely beautiful song. Harry Connick, Jr. did a lovely version of it, which is one of my favorites. I wish Austin had sung the other verse, which is heart wrenching.
I agree, the second verse is "heart wrenching" - I'm thinking that may be the reason Austin chose not to sing it. That would have had me really weeping!
I've heard many versions of this song and the only thing wrong with this one is that he only did 1 verse. His gentle and emotional touch goes beyond full body goosebumps. Austin has me in full body shivers along with tears and goosebumps! So good! ❤
I love this song. It's about a young soldier that dies in battle and his friend who buries him in the field. I have heard many versions of this some with the lyrics some instrumental, usually on bagpipes. They have had this in several movies, mostly Scottish based.
Austin just draws you into the story he is telling. So good. He stunned me, even knowing how talented he is, he stunned me. Been listening to this since friday and doesn't get old.
I've heard this multiple times over the last couple of days and I cry everytime! Except for being too short the only other thing I can say is "Perfect'! Great reaction Dennis! Love you ❤️🍟
The Londonderry Air is a traditional Irish melody, while the words for Danny Boy were written in 1913. The tune has also been set to a beautiful hymn - "I cannot tell why He whom angels worship..." Thanks for reacting to Auston Brown's lovely version, with such a fine accompaniment.
Love the song but way too short. Austin has such a warm, smooth, velvety voice and Sebastian is just great with his piano playing. Thanks for the reaction.
This is a song about a mother saying goodbye as she sends her young man off to war. In Ireland it's considered as like a 2nd national anthem. Dennis seriously ? Never heard this ? I find it hard to believe
People who were born in the 1920, 30,40 and lived through all they went through carried this song forward in memory of those hard time. My granny and mom would sing this song often. As Austin pointed out his grandma sang it too. So it's a tribute to our families history. My mom would always tell us she lived the life of the movie the grapes of wrath
This is a beautiful and breathtaking cover! Austin knows how to deliver any song in the manner in which it should be presented. Love it! Your tears and no pausing is your reaction, Dennis. (I already forgot if you paused once or not at all). I was drawn in instantly with Debbie playing that keyboard so gently and softly. Then Austin started singing and I was captivated!
This is so beautiful. Love the song. It’s often played at funerals of Firemen and Policemen with bagpipes. Austin and Sebastien’s piano playing were superb. Makes me teary eyed every time. Good reaction Dennis.
Congrats on 60k, Dennis! Well deserved, your content always feel fresh, valuable and genuine, even when it's artists you've heard as much as you've heard as must as you've heard Austin and Home Free. I wish he has done the whole song because this is just WAY too short, but he does know how to leave us wanting more, doesn't he?! Obviously, it'll never be enough so he might as well use or, right?! 🤣 I would LOVE to hear Austin, or even Home Free, sing The Rose. Loved your reaction, as I always do. Thank you! 🥰🙏
🧡 DANNY BOY The song has multiple interpretations, written with the intention of a woman singing this to a man. Interestingly, I've rarely heard it sung by a female. Austin did this heart-wrenching song justice. So well in fact, that I wish he had extended it through its second stanza: But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying, If I am dead, as dead I well may be, Ye'll come and find the place where I am lying, And kneel and say an Avé there for me. And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me, And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be, For you will bend and tell me that you love me, And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me! I can never hear this song without getting emotional. Thanks, Dennis, for this reaction for Austin, and the song.
Danny Boy is simply amazing. The group Veritas does it brilliantly. The background vocals sound haunting just like the lyrics. It’s pretty much a epic version, like this one. We sang this song in our own semi prof ensemble. Much more chorale I style however.
This is an old Irish wake/funeral hymn. As far as I can assess this song is a mother waiting for her son Danny to return from war...likely WW1. She hadn't heard from him since he left.... and he likely died in battle. So... she waits as the seasons come and go...still no word from him...she holds out hope as long as she can...but time takes her..as it likely did her son many years earlier..
If you hadn't heard it before, this was a good first listen for sure. I wish he'd sung all the verses. I'd highly suggest finding a version with all of them. I happen to like the cover Bing Crosby did, but there are many others.
So close to 60000, almost wish I was subscribed so I could help push you over the top! And this is a great video, though I of course prefer it sung with an Irish accent, being part Irish, myself. But Austin sounds gorgeous nonetheless. I can’t believe you’ve never heard this before. Well, you can’t say that anymore! There are different versions on what the song is about, the most common, I think is about a young man going off to war, the song being sung by his sweetheart or parent.
What up, Dennis! I'm back! (Formerly ILoveEmilee) You have to do more stuff on The Party, my friend. Their reunion concert in Orlando is coming up shortly, you gotta do more reactions on them. You've already done That's Why (with Christina) and In My Dreams already, how about reacting to: In My Life (Live In CT) or just the audio version Free Summer Vacation and Salute To Summer (a double reaction)
My understanding of this song lyric is that it's about a father sending his son off to war, and not knowing on his return if he will still be alive. I believe it is a love song father to son...
The only other version i love of this song is done by Celtic Thunder, Austin is right up there with them a beautiful version from both that had me in tears. Great reaction thanks 😊❤️
I loved Austin’s version of this gorgeous timeless song!! I love Celtic Thunder as well! I have to go listen to their version!! I’ll bet it’s beautiful 😍
It is an ancient Scottish/Irish ballad, no one know exactly when it was written, usually 1800's to early 1900's. I have always thought the pipes that are calling refers to bagpipes, and the Scottish glens that are mentioned makes me think it is more a Scots ballad. There are many interpertations, a Mother saying goodby toa son going to battle is one of several. Anyway it is a beautiful song and Austin did a superior job.
It’s a song from my home town of Derry and is a about the enslavement of the Irishmen sold by the English to the colonies of the americas and Australia
DENNIS HAVE YOU REACTED TO AN ORIGINAL SONG AUSTIN PUT OUT 3 WEEKS AGO" CALLED "REAL TALK". IT IS ABOUT HOW DO WE HAVE REAL TALK IN A DIGITAL AGE ALSO OFF THE GRID [ AUSTIN AND HIS GUITARIST ARE SITTING OUSIDE ON KITCHEN CHAIRS SINGING HE DID 5 MO. AGO THERE IS ALSO A VIDEO BUT I LIKE THIS ONE BETTER.AND SAME TIME HE DID AN ORIGINAL ONE {IF I MET YOU NOW" [ A SONG ABOUT 2ND CHANCES] HIS GF IS IN IT. BOTH OF THESE ARE ALSO ORIGINALS. I NOTICED YOU DID AN AUDIO VERSION OF "EARN IT". YOU NEED TO SEE THE VIDEO. ALSO I FOUND A TIK TOK SONG HE DID INSIDE A CAR SINGING A SONG HE WROTE FOR HIS GIRL FRIEND TO HER SINCE IT IS TIK TOK YOU NEED TO COMBINE IT WITH ONE OF THESE THREE.
Hi! I hope you can react to "THE BADDEST" by BGYO from the Philippines. It's currently trending now and the group is also charting at first spot on Billboard Next Big Sound. I'm sure you'll gonna enjoy it😊 Thank you😊
I'm just a little annoyed that he only sang one verse and he didn't reach for that tear-grabbing high note -- one that a true Irish tenor would sell his soul to nail.
Love Danny Boy, but Austin cheated us he only did the first verse. I always heard it was a lad going away, and mother was waiting for him to come home. Peter Hollens does a beautiful rendition of it.
You called it. Combine Austin’s ability to use his phrasing of the lyrics to fill his performances with aching sadness or exuberant joy, this song was made for him. This song is one of those rare gifts that whether it is song or performed as an instrumental piece, it never fails to grasp your heart strings. It is a folk ballad that was familiar to the people of County Londonderry in Ireland back into a period of time where it's composer is a very contested issue. This became one of many melodies collected in the mid 1800’s by Jane Ross and preserved by George Petrie in his book, published in 1855, The Ancient Music of Ireland, Londonderry County, Ireland. Many lyrics used this tune as a backdrop over the years until it came to the notice in 1913 of a London Lawyer and song writer, Frederick Edward Weatherly. He took the lyrics of one of his previous works, combined it with this music and it became very successful. The Irish who have fully embraced this as the song of the true Irish heart, are well known for sending their younger members and families out into the world to escape oppression. Often those older generations left behind are never to be seen face to face again and can relate strongly to having left close family behind and identify with the longing and pathos expressed there. There are many interpretations of what the words mean, but the last verses may hold the key. But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying If I be dead, as dead I well may be You’ll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an “Ave” there for me And I shall hear, tho’ soft you tread above me And all my grave will warm and sweeter be For you will bend and tell me that you love me And I will sleep in peace until you come to me The truth may be that the meaning is what we bring to the table. If it speaks to your heart then what you think of, is what it is meant to mean.
Austin does have that ability to just make you lose yourself in his voice
I mean no disrespect to any vocalist out there, but I have to say that Austin has THE most MANLY high tenor voice I have ever heard. Could listen to it all day. Love the piano arrangement too. Almost like a bagpipe drone on the bottom. Love it!
Totally agree. That is why I can't listen to the other a capella groups. Some counter tenors just sound too screechy. I prefer Austin's nice strong tenor sound.
I would completely agree with you on that, his voice is Amazing !!!!
@@charleneclaassen so true. I couldn't listen to Voiceplay until Earl left. No disrespect to him, I know a lot of people love him but to me he sounds like a screeching cat.
Danny Boy is often played at funerals. I’ve heard it played on the bagpipes outside of the church. I wish that Austin had sung verse two.
It's an absolutely beautiful song. Harry Connick, Jr. did a lovely version of it, which is one of my favorites. I wish Austin had sung the other verse, which is heart wrenching.

I love this song. It's about a young soldier that dies in battle and his friend who buries him in the field. I have heard many versions of this some with the lyrics some instrumental, usually on bagpipes. They have had this in several movies, mostly Scottish based.
Good god everyone knows it as irish
It's a father singing to his son

He did an absolutely amazing job with this song. Like I say often I love your your heartfelt reactions. Thank you!
From one Superfan to another, Austin is beyond amazing!!!!😍

Not Irish, it is credited to Jane Ross who was Scottish, the lyrics are English.
the tears say it all for the reaction song was awesome
Another very captivating performance by Austin. Takes your breath away. Your face was enough of a reaction.
His voice is just incredible ‼️💥 it takes your breath away ‼️🥰
Love the song but way too short. Austin has such a warm, smooth, velvety voice and Sebastian is just great with his piano playing. Thanks for the reaction.
Beautiful song! Great reaction!

The song was written by English lawyer Fredrick Weatherly upon the death of his son Daniel nothing to do with war.

Austin did so well with Sebastein on this song. Amazing and heartfelt. Thanks as always for a great reaction.

Sending off too America. Knowing I'll never see again... True Heartbreaker...
I love this song, and Austin sang a gorgeous rendition!! The only thing that would have made it better, is if he'd done the full song. 😢

for my b day wish i wish u get to your 60k goal good luck!
I always thought of the song as a parent singing to their child who is going off to war Or at least leaving home for some far away land.

nobody sings this song like Elvis listen to Elvis sing it, nobody can touch him! NOBODY!!!
It’s a song from my home town of Derry and is a about the enslavement of the Irishmen sold by the English to the colonies of the americas and Australia
