My onion sets didn't do well last year. Maybe I will try it your way this year. Thanks

Using modules like in the video sow 5 seeds per module from Feb till April. For the first sowing germinate in your warmest spot in the house and then put on a South facing windowsill until late march/early april. Plant out each module 20cm apart without thinning the seedlings. Thin them as you harvest. Cheaper, better varieties to chose from and way less hassle.

Hi, everytime i did grow onion sets i ended up with bolting ,Onion Maggots, neck got soft and bent or other but when i did grow from seeds had no problem i think i stay away from sets they are good for green onions anyway, one time i planted 37 red onions and only 2 made it the rest all bolted, thanks.

So March is a god time to plant sets? I'm thinking to plant mine in the ground soon, it's a short season here at 1000M and it will probably snow a few more times. But we are getting some warm sunny days too. If there is going to be a week of rain should i throw a tarp over the bulbs to keep most of the rain off?

I planted a large number of onion sets this winter (SE Georgia USA so weather is fine and they're booming). I'm planning out my spring garden and I'm wondering how long it takes the onion sets to reach maturity where they can be harvested. Thanks for any help.

I live in South Mississippi and stared my onions last fall, however they have great green tops, but not much in the way.of bulb, and yes, they are the bulb type onions, not the green onions, also planted shallots at the same time from sets, still small in the wayof bulbs, but they have multiplied. Am I suppose to do anything else to them to get the onion bulbs to get bigger and when do I know they are ready for harvest? They are wanting to flower, but I keep pinching off the flower buds because I want them to put their energy into the bulb, am I doing that correctly? I can grow stuff year round in my garden, because it rarely freezes. Thanks. God Bless and take care.
