Cheers for share Mik 👍. Learning more and more. Fair play to your missus, there's no way er in doors would let me build raised bed in our garden no matter how much I I ironed 😉.
Nice one Mick! I did wonder how you was going to fill those empty beds on your plot....now I know 😄👍🏻 Thanks for the tour of the less abled and school kids plots.....it will be available soon 😉 All the best mate.......Nigel
Hello Mick and Ben, thankyou for sharing, not seen potatoes started like that before. Thankyou for your talk at Hurley, very enjoyable and informative. If you are Passing through Atherstone and you would still like some of my Wormery Tea, just get in touch. 😆 Happy growing Terry
I was going to ask the vermiculite v perlite question too. I've used vermiculite before but this year i'm giving perlite a go. Perlite is even lighter so I wouldn't use it to cover seeds which i have used vermiculite for. But as a mixer to lighten up the compost I think I prefer it.
+Eifion Davies never come across that before , but spud fertilizer is 13;13;20 so i would say it should be all right , not too strong thats all , trial !,
How much earlier would you eat the potatoes that are started in pots? Do frosted potatoes get harmed I thought just the leaves get a bit black and you can just cut them off.
Only a couple of weeks but you know the plants that go out are good ! frost jobs the tops of spuds , underneath should be o.k. I now top dress all my raised beds with straw .
I grow I/kidney every year...but spuds grown outside of Jersey, can NOT be called Jersey potatoes, or Jersey Royals..as it’s the volcanic soils and the seaweed extract that they are grown in that gives the potatoes the flavour, and the quality... its trade is name registered worldwide. If you walk along the beaches at Gorey, you can see the ruts carved out of the rocks where the iron clad wheels of the horse & cart wagons wore these away, whilst collecting the seaweed from the beaches each growing period.... The seed spuds I grow are bought from the same supplier every year, and are HALF the price of those sold as Jerseys by other suppliers.....I grow from 2 x 28lb bags of these seed potatoes every year... but the info you gave about starting them off in clear plastic cups is the same as I do, and is a great tip to pass onto your subscribers....great vids mate...keep em coming...
Hi Mick, Really good information. Have you also used perlite by any chance, seems to be a bit cheaper and I wonder if results will be similar. I was thinking about using plastic cups for the sweetcorn this year as heard it needs deeper pot.
Thanks Mick, never thought of Poundland, nice one. Just joined CGGC, and can get into the shed prices. Did I see somewhere there is a fee involved , and do you just turn up at the shed.
Thanks,I’m new to onion planting, so I’m thinking put the onions in cups like you (next week sometime) keep them in the house until next month, then move to my raised bed,or is this too early, I have a greenhouse? Sheryl

So....what's the deal there in Britain with these "allotments", do you have to beg, or register with the government/King to grow food? Every British YT video about gardening shows people with tiny plots that are some kind of "community space". I hope this is just a "city" thing.
Thank you Mick your video has really helped inspired me to get Growing.
cheers tina , glad to help .....
