Good tenacity showing once again in Montreal. Even after allowing 3 straight goals against they still kept playing. What is wrong with Monty? It seems that when he has competition with the second goalie he starts to lose games. Luckily teh team bailed him out. 4 goals on 20 shots. 1 goal I can easily forgive because it was more of a bad bounce. 1 goal was a good effort from Vancouver but 2 goals his positioning stank. When Primeau was playing well last year Monty wasn't. Anyway Montreal is showing it can play against any team. I hope teh continue to build on this momentum.

There's been a lot of talk about Miller and the drama around the Canucks.
Specifically about how Miller is not giving enough, mostly on the defensive side of the game as some people have extoled in discussions of value to the team should efforts be made to rearrange the roster. Maybe there's some value to that, but he basically forced the Canucks into overtime with his plays tonight. 60% on the draw, a shooter, and a playmaker. It's not a surprise that he doesn't have a ton in the tank to play the defensive game when he puts as much as he does into the offense.
If the Canucks want to win games there's 1 key solution and that's staying out of the box. A simple concept with a thousand factors from positioning to awareness to discipline to sustained and measured effort and a myriad more.

From what I saw, he was in two backward goals where he leaves the opponent standing in front of the goal completely unguarded. One time he was behind the goal and the second time he was up above the drawing point in the middle of the castle? What is he really doing? He can barely skate? And then they complain about the defense? It is not strange with such a zero for a defender.

I mean, they're down a man, and you don't have a ton of time of the center draw. I think it's a great play. It's not as bad as you make it sound. The other option with only 2 immediately covered passing lanes is to circle on to the back hand towards the boards and head back to your zone. A high-risk move. Tight quick circle, back hand control, and immediate pressure. That's an easy turnover situation as they can 2 man pressure, and he has no real options to cover behind him. If he's checked, it's a breakaway or a 2 on 1 chance. I'd much rather he dumps than gives up the puck like that. It's risk vs reward and any coach would be furious that you didn't dump in that situation and gave it away.

Plus going without your 1st defensive line for a bit will do that too you. Hronek needs to get back. On another note its fun to see the Habs playing good hockey again. They had a couple bad bounces and a couple soft goals let in and still grabbed a point. I think Canucks fans are forgetting how bad this team was before.
