I guess the kids who memed that they're from Mexico are trying to say it doesn't matter where they're from. I'm born in America but have Scottish, Irish, English, German, and other Scandinavian and other European blood. I love Boards of Canada. But others with my same genotype don't necessarily. It doesn't matter where it's from or where the fans are from. I love this shit. You love this. They love this. I would die to this. I'm sure others would, too.
Sad and beautiful at the same time. It also gives you an eternal feeling. No wonder it is often used in documentaries like those of Louis Theroux. Absolutely beautiful and fitting music.
I'd have given you a thumbs-up for your otherwise excellent description of the music until you mentioned BBC hypocrite and serial manipulator Louis Theroux.
I recently returned from the cemetery, where I visited the grave of my grandmother, who died more than 20 years ago. Such a strange peace in my soul after walking between the graves of those who lived and died decades before my birth. A reminder of the transience of our lives. The track fits perfectly with the mood
according to the palindrome theory regarding the album, it is literally the reprise of Jacquard Causeway and after repeated listens of the palindrome mix, it is absolutely amazing the transition from Jacquard Causeway into Sundown is so glorious… the trippy weaving melancholy weeps into this ambient hug is relieving even if the left over sadness of JC is still running strong… it is like finally having some peace but after a long treck/haul
I would go out an pick slugs off my greens at around 4-5am in the dark, in summer 2020... this was such an amazing vibe to do it to. Sober no less... it was as good as being high.
Having in mind our current understanding about universe, the darkness will never end, the darkness is the future of our universe. After trillion of years, when the last dwarf stars are going to die, there is going to be no light in the universe, universe just going to become, one unimaginably huge void of emptiness and darkness, with black holes floating around, until they also are going to eventually decay into nothingness. With that in mind, even if we achieve immortality, we are not going to be able to live forever, because cosmos will die eventually. Entropy is a relentless mechanism that ensures this. Funny thing is, this is going to take trillions, quadrillions of years to happen. We are going to be long gone before last starts are going to die. Black holes will endure for even more time than the era of stars, in which we live right now. The era of black holes, when life as we know it will no longer be possible in cosmos, will last for much much longer than era of stars. This means that in the whole life of cosmos, the era of stars, when life is possible, lasts only a tinny fraction of the whole life of cosmos, and we live in it right now. One has to question, the design of the universe, and the purpose of it all. Especially having in mind that 99.99999% of life of the universe, will be the dark age, or the age of black holes, when no life can possibly exist to witness it all, the question arises what is the purpose of it all?
@Danny Hensley Thanks Danny, appreciate your comment. I get what you're saying, I think personally it is our societies rotten moral values and general education (and many other things actually) that are the real culprits, behind so many people being so focused and fixated on things which in reality, does not benefit nor really improve their overall quality of life. In school, we are immediately conditioned to compete against each other, who has better grades, better social status, etc. This neatly translates for many people into adulthood life, with competition to earn more money, competition for popularity and so on, which in essence divides us. Instead of working towards some goal, like space exploration or general expansion of our horizons, we compete between each other. Now, I am not saying that this does not happen in world, surely there are scientist that are working towards specific goals and breakthroughs happen all the time. However, these are a very small percentage of people and our true potential working on something beneficial. Imagine if everyone had this type of mind set, lust for truth and knowledge, how much more could we achieve which everyone could enjoy. But this type of approach does not allow billionaires and people above all others, hence it is not going to happen, because people at the top, are not going to let go of their status in a million years. It truly makes you think, if there is some sort of hidden master of our race, puling the strings from the shadows, keeping us divided and sedated keeping us from reaching our true potential and greatness, forever more keeping us in our miserable pursuit for nothingness.

That's disappointing. You haven't become sad enough, then. I've had so much regret and pain and sorrow. This music actually makes me feel happy and calm. If this feels sad to you then you shouldn't listen to it.

You still got to admit that it was a good find though, right, or do you not like it that much? I just listened to the remastered version of "The Sundown" by Ennio Morricone, and it has the same, peaceful vibe throughout, except for the last 17 seconds.
Your thumbs-up makes me think you agree with me :) Please check out the remaining Boards of Canada discography, they have produced so many gems over the last 27 years.. also, their ability to invoke nostalgic and melancholic feelings is unique and unmatched among electronic music artists, I never even found anyone or any group coming close to them. If you liked this piece, I also heavily recommend the instrumental remix of "Mr. Mistake" by the group NEVERMEN, also from Boards of Canada. Here's a link: th-cam.com/video/b0sNLKMJAoQ/w-d-xo.html Happy listening and hope you are alright during these uncertain times :)
I really love boards, some great Scottish sound. Rolling clouds, hills, breath, movement, life, death, all of that.

I'm surprised this is from 2013....I thought this d be way earlier like 80s or something
God that last 30 seconds is something else. An incredible impression of the last light leaving us.
It's cathartic, extraordinarily cathartic, in a beautiful yet subtle way. It pulls you in, and washes you clean.

i totally agree with you both - i would add more but must listen more closely to the edit right now
This is so perfect. As a long time Boards fan, Kudos.

Sundown is like a reprise of Corsair from Geogaddi.
