I wouldn't really class a deep DLR hook as basics. Nothing basic about his Jiu jitsu it's fundamentally strong. Marcelo and Rogers Jiu jitsu is just fundamentally solid.
Gordon Ryan has been amazing, but that's more recently. He's too young and doesn't have the longevity. It will be interesting to see how he does in the future though.
My 2 favorite Jiu-jitsu Masters Roger Gracie and Marcelo Garcia, ahh the mid 2000's. I believe both men would've given Gordon Ryan all he could handle and more.
