I had a severe stroke almost 15 years ago and couldn't talk or walk. I regained my speech with a lot of hard work and was only in a wheelchair for a month and a half. Three weeks ago, my partner flat-lined twice and is now in IMCU. He can move his arms, head, legs, say his name, recognized family, but with a vacant expression. He can also follow some commands on and off. However, he did not pass swallow test, trach/PEG in place. He will be transferred to an acute care facility for a neuro-plan of treatment. Neuro said that he has bilateral thalamus brain damage...not sure if this is a thalamic stroke? Can INR help him post acute care?
