I said the same thing! I just tried to emulate it but didn’t turn out exactly right, although it was still very good. And yes I agree, when I see them make it, it’s not a lot of batter. A lot of exposed pieces but it cooks uniformly and the color is uniform. Maybe I will put less batter next time but I need to perfect the corn starch to flour ratio
That chicken looks wonderful. Nice color. I also like the simple menu. Fries, potato salad, beans, fried okra and chicken with a slice of white bread. No collard greens, candied yams on Mac and cheese. Pass the hot sauce please 😋

From Memphis. I know how good Gus's can be. Went to Gus's in Houston and ordered $100 dollars worth of chicken and sides to go. Chicken was not fresh. Chicken was not hot. Quality was like eating 5 day old shoe leather. Called the manager who promised to refund my money. Never happened, and I will never return. So sad.
The one In Detroit sucks just had a 4 piece with Mac and potato salad.cheesy mac no flavor, and stinky egg potato salad .chicken is Spice without salt im not a fan edible but not good, change the name to "Just Chicken".

@@Phuong_Nguyen_ they marinate for 24 hrs so that could be the reason the color is uniform all over and the flavor too.
