Supersonic flow in a rocket nozzle

Visualization of pressure, wall-pressure, vorticity and velocity fields durind the start-up of a rocket nozzle. We can notice the transition between a Free Shock Separation (FSS) configuration and a Restricted Shock Separation (RSS) configuration with the increasing of the pressure ratio. This simulation was performed at the CORIA laboratory with the CHOC WAVES code.
