      After reading these posts i cant believe how stupid some people are. Mention gold and some of the stupid run around disappearing up their own backsides. Bringing in outside artifacts only helps to really cement the nut jobs to this program. I am truly amazed.

      I got into metal detecting a few years ago. The very first silver coin I ever found was a 1916 Mercury Dime. Quite warn where the mint Mark was not visible I understand if minted in Denver could be worth good money. 1916 was the first year for the Merc. As much as $25K. Last minted in 1945. One of my favorite US coins. But, my favorite coin find is a 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. It came out of the ground shining in the Sun as the powder-like dirt fell off of it. I was on my knees at the hole and I started exclaiming “Oh my God”! Several times. I realized a Woman walking her little dog picked up her walking pace to move quickly away from me at an old resort in Green Lake WI.

    The best gold ring I've
    Found was a highschool graduation ring ,( dania beach , in the early,70's )

    • @badapple65
      @badapple65 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I found a class ring as well. They are the easiest type of jewelry to find the rightful owner. In my case the local High school was able to look back into ring orders from students. Her initials were engraved inside the band and of course her ring displayed her graduation year. She was a senior and the ring had not been lost for very long. A counselor at the high school said she very much enjoyed playing detective to find who had ordered that ring. The mother was happy but not all too pleased with her daughter as she had given it to a short lived boyfriend to wear on a chain and he lost it. The mother did not know it was lost until the school counselor called their home with the great news of it being found. Any-who, ring returns can be fun and rewarding. Often people are extremely happy to get their ring back. .

      We tried to reunite the ring and owner , however we struck a deadend with the school and definitely with the ring maker ,
      There was a definite
      " Who cares " attitude
      From the ring company & not any better from the school...
      I've found watches , necklaces bracelets and have never owned a working metal detector , everything was found snorkeling , scuba diving or just walking by looking at the ground .
      ( I found 23 walking liberty -- old an all silver ) 😉
      During a rainstorm at work ,, i drew the short straw , while checking the job site ,👀 i saw bright round circles in the spoil pile😲
      That was the last time i checked out a job site in the rain ,,, by myself
      🙂 Everyone had treasure fever 😃

      There is. Treasure, including gold coins and jewelry have been washing up on that same stretch of beach for many years now. Remember, not everyone that finds something very valuable runs to a TV station because, then the state of Florida, will want their cut, and so will Uncle Sam and, lately the Spanish government has been putting in claims for lost treasure found from those ships. Me? I would keep any and all discoveries on the down low and pay my taxes when I actually sold something which is the law as I understand it is supposed to be. For me it’s not about finding “the treasure”... the history of the island and they guys make it fun to watch.
      I suspect that the treasure is long gone from Oak Island... but the history isn’t.
