@@realqxji of course! Just tried to reassure Silv when he said he wasn’t sure what was the target demographic for this video at the beginning of the episode :)
This video made me cry because I miss the Netherlands so much even though I haven't lived there in over a decade. It's so nice to hear you talk about Dutch architecture and your home with so much joy and passion
I'm honest with you.. I'm not your demographic. But hearing you ramble about the architecture made me interested in it. I love your PC build, so I expect nothing more than perfection from this.
To be fair, I've been working on this project for months now, long before PlanCo 2 was announced :) it just forced me to finally start making video's of it hehe.
as a fellow dutchy i was watching this and am like: oh i've seen a build simulair in this town/city oh that looks just like the house of a friend of mine. great job
Well luckily for you Silv, the audience you have brewed over the years is exactly the group of people who would want to watch this. Also you are an absolute madman and I love that.
Nerdy architecture videos are my jam! Especially when they are about such charming architecture as Dutch architecture. I love doing things like this in the planet games. Thanks so much for sharing this project
Hey Silv darling, the target demographic is me -> Someone who not only is interested in architecture, and building in the Planet games, but who simply loves listening to you talk about all the topics that you are so knowledgable about ❤
It is amazing how something I would imagine would bore me to tears actually can be interesting, so please continue with the "nerding". I suspect it is not your cup of tea, and maybe you have addressed it sometime before, but I would be very interested to see you build and decorate a village in Medieval Dynasty. Specifically because it is so limited, compared to PZ. It could certainly challenge your creativity.
Hi Silv, love the series idea! Looking forward to all the future episodes. I'm definitely the target demographic here! Greetings from the US! I owe much of my ancestry from the Netherlands and have been always curious what an actual Dutch person thought of my little hometown of Pella, Iowa. Our town square is surrounded by Dutch inspired architecture. We even have a 'canal plaza' named the Molengracht and the largest operating windmill in the United States. Would love to hear what you think!
Oohhh as an avid Google Maps nerd I've actually mapsed my way around Pella in the past. To be honest, I find it all a bit kitsch but it's cute (beats the average US small city center when it comes to urbanism too), and the windmill looks great.
I know nothing about Dutch architecture. Did I just watch the whole video while sipping my morning coffee? Absolutely. There’s something so fun about getting to hear someone else geek out over something they’re passionate about. Been watching your vids for a long time and really enjoy them. Great video! Looking forward to the next one!
Holy crap! I've always wanted to built a little town or city of sorts, and started something myself in planet zoo. Yours looks a lot better. You even have the correct dutch brick bond which is pretty damn cool.
First thing I had fun building in Planet Zoo was a castle, now I tend to get stuck building entrances and manor houses and stuff, but I'm still awful at habitats. Building in PZ is great fun though, I'm not sure if there's a huge difference from planet coaster, but I'm sure you'll have fun making use of all the unique parts in cool ways. This looks gorgeous :) I'll be looking forward to more!
Really enjoyed this video! Loved all the information and the fact I could watch a speedbuild without feeling sick! Looking forward to the next part in the series xx
Love this video and it comes at such an amazing time. Next week I am moving to the Netherlands from Canada and love learning about the cities I will be seeing very soon. Looking forward to more episodes!
Here, I'm the target demographic! :D Please, any and all architecture stuff from you in any game - I'm here for it. Also if you feel like the videos aren't good in showing your process of building - I would even enjoy "just" a tour of the finished pieces/ map/ etc. By the way: So happy you're uploading more often again!

Harz is so beautiful! Greetings from Germany. I have to say, I now realize that Dutch architecture is my favourite to look at. Thanks for educating us! ❤
Honestly I don't mind if the videos are a little or even a lot random. I'm here to see some amazing building and interesting commentary. If it's a little or even a lot random, well if anything we would get to see your creative process as it happens, which would be interesting to see as well.
This is highly impressive. You have some mad talent! The hours spend thus far must be insane haha! Already looking forward to the next episode. +1 respect.
Duss geboren en getogen in Bergen op Zoom, nooit geweten dat dat gebouw de Mariahoek heet 😂 weer wat geleerd vandaag! Het is ook wel echt een heel mooi pand! Heel gaaf geworden ook in je video❤
WOAW it's super good looking can't wait for the next episode, it's rare for me to be this invested in an episode as i was with this one - I really love when you talk and nerd about dutch architecture, it's really entertaining to listen to while watching you construct these very interesting and beautiful traditional dutch buildings, you really inspired me to do a danish city, but danish architecture is quite bland and boring dutch, so it's gonna be difficult to make it looks interesting, but maybe?? I've been in the Netherlands twice and i've been so flabbergasted by you guys architecture, i'm in love with it so much, the cities we were in was Roermond and Maastricht, and they have a fair bit of architecture like this, and each time it's just as wonderful as the last time, damn i wish for this architecture in Denmark. It has so much personality compared to the Danish architecture - I have a question, maybe you talked about it and i missed it, but do the metal details in the exterior of the buildings have a purpose are is it solely decorative? Also i'm in love with Havengracht 3, such a beautiful building!
I don't remember PZ anymore because I enjoy the building system in Prehistoric Kingdom more. But I had so many ideas for a Dutch zoo. In particular I would have loved to recreate some of the buildings I know from living in Amsterdam, like around the Artis zoo but also the Tropenmuseum. Perhaps you could be inspired by the latter for some of the public architecture.
I love the Tropenmuseum, if not just for the building alone! It's a bit too fancy for the size of city I'm going for here though. Plus, I like doing builds "inspired by", not so much copies of.
I think it would actually be really cool if you built a zoo in this build. Even a small city zoo would be cool. Otherwise if you could leave some empty room in the map so we could continue where you left off. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'm watching this while taking a stroll along the Vesting in Naarden.. The vibe is somewhat the same. The center of Dordrecht is beautiful (we don't mention the rest). you're crazy Silvarret. Planet World master. Can't wait for PlanCo 2 and see what you can do. I also agree with you on Cities Skylines 2. The game came out to early, but Colossal Order is taking huge steps making it better. Its waiting for custom assets and we can fly in the Cities world again
Hey, I live in the "rest" of Dordrecht! ;) and agreed, can't wait for both Planco2 and Cities to get proper assets. In the meantime, this Zoo series feels like a nice little break.
Oh wow! Super cool! Loved it! I have done something similar in my last game, but there were too many elements and I guess my PC couldn't handle it anymore :/
Now that I've watched the video to the end, I have to say that I really liked hearing you nerd out about the architecture...and that leads right to my question: where does the rainwater go? I imagine the buildings have gutters somewhere, but how does it work between the roofs if they're built right next to each other?
Brilliant work, I made much of the architecture in Call of Duty's MWII (2022) Amsterdam level, so to hear your explanations as to the "why" behind this specific architectural vernacular means a lot. When it came to modeling these buildings in a 3d engine, one of the big challenges was that some of the Dutch facades in Amsterdam cantered out towards to the street at an angle. Haven't seen that pattern in any other region. I heard it's for lifting furniture to top floors via street level, is that accurate?
André Hazes, a late famous Dutch folk singer, used it for his song “Wij Houden Van Oranje” which translates to “We love orange” - which is what we call our sports teams - mainly the football team. It was made for the European Football Championship of 1988 which The Netherlands won. So I’m pretty sure Silv chose Auld Lang Syne because of this connection.
I literally tried to make a PlanCo park picturing the Netherlands architectur. Didn't succeed, for multiple reasons. This project might have been helpful back then. Gonna do it in PlanCo2!
Good point! Will do, but I still have to turn the façades into proper buildings to upload them - so you won't have them lacking sides and backsides as they do here.
