My wife and I were travelling Europe last September and were staying at a Hotel in Berchtesgaden, Germany. While waiting for our car to be brought around a small tour bus pulled up in front of the hotel and a few people started to get off the bus with camera/sound equipment and lots of luggage. Near the end 2 older gentleman wearing military bomber jackets and 101st Airborne hats got off the bus and were standing around chatting and taking in the scenery. I remarked to my wife that they were certainly WW2 vets and if they were in the 101st Airborne they dropped into Normandy (we had just left Omaha Beach a few days prior) and fought their way to Berchtesgaden to take Hitlers Eagles Nest. We walked up to them and introduced ourselves and thanked them for their service, one of the gentle man was Mr. Rice. He commented that he was surprised folks our age knew about what they did. He ended up talking to us for close to 30 minutes, telling us stories and asking us about why were in Europe. He gave us long hugs before we left and was tearing up talking to us, it was emotional and amazing. He is a true gentleman and an amazing human. Thank you Mr Rice again for your service!
