Glad to hear it Stephen . It Keeps us Young and Connected to our Youth .I am looking foward to all cars to be as smart as K.I.T.T.. I hope that they work the bugs out of the Self Driving Cars available today!!
I remember sitting and talking with KITT at this very attraction when I was a kid. It was such a thrill. I remember being mad that they wouldn't let us take longer than the...I believe it was 2-5 minutes they give each guest. I was so convinced it was KITT's voice too. To an excited little girl, he sounded spot on!
Mine too, as well as the tour of Battlestar Galactica, The A-Team Stunt Show, and Conan The Barbarian Show!!!! I have all of it on VHS, one of these days I will convert it.
@@dwiggins1 Man I would love to see that on You Tube.. I spent a lot of time at the Old Battlestar Galactica, Attraction the A-team Van, and Conan, ,, and i got to ride the elevator that the Wizard used to disappear in a cloud of smoke and They showed me the Pyrotechnics that were used during the show to accomplish this This was long before before I got interested in Detailing K.I.T.T. Later Jake
Still watching, but had to pause to comment. I’m 43, born in ‘76, and I was there!! I remember walking across the water to the car!! KITT was my favorite show!! I’m thinking I was maybe 10, or even younger, so it must have been 1985-87 timeframe... perhaps even 1984. I have a picture someplace I’m going to see if I can find it!! I’m from Northern California, and on this trip, we went to Disneyland and Universal studios, but out of all the rides and attractions both parks had to offer, THIS will forever be etched in my mind as the highlight of that trip!!!!
Young people born in 76, I was 19 back in 82 when the show first started. I saw a replica of Kitt on 84 near Killen Texas when I was stationed at Fort Hood.
My parents sat in the car back in 1990. I think that's what made them relocate us as a family from the Philippines to America! My brother was 10, I was 6.
Hi Nathan . Glad to hear you Enjoyed the video , I know what you Mean ,I haven't even gone Near Universal Since they got rid of K.I.T.T. They have made so many Changes ,that it is no longer The Universal that I knew and enjoyed Later Jake
I never noticed that until you mentioned it , Too busy getting things done in time for the park to open I guess , thanks C Jaguar 265 for pointing that out . EVERY BODY STAY SAFE !!!
@@CJaguar265 Yeah I wish that there was such a thing as a "TIME TUNNEL" I would definitely say move over Tony and Doug , and go back to those simpler times ,with all the Craziness going on now ..
To this day almost 40 yrs later. That car still looks so futuristic when you see the concept cars of today. It's still so Aerodynamic, so sharp & Bullet shaped, the profile with the Knight Rider Nose looks like a Knife cutting through the wind.
I think it was 1984 when my parents took me to universal and I have pics from me in this car, I was 8. Funny story, I got super sick for whatever reason and I ended up in the infirmary, yes they have some kind of infirmary at universal. I was in view of the car. ACTUALLY the car would talk back to you when you sat in it. I was extremely upset while I was sitting trying to get better, I saw the wire leading from the car to a box that was the size of a lil shed. The person came out of the shed that was the voice of Kitt. They could see the people get inside the car and they also had a microphone so they could hear whoever was in the car and respond back to them 🤣 Man what good times. Thanks for sharing these videos!!!
Yes Eric and Mandy I remember the Infirmary I had to make a visit there after I injured my thumb while working on K.I.T.T. i Cut My thumb under the dash board and had to get some band aids Nothing Major but I didn't want to bleed all over the car So I erred on the side of caution .AS for the voice of K.I.T.T. as I remember they had a couple of guys that could do a rough approximation of William Daniels's voice and speak several languages Those were the days HuH? I wish I could go back again. OH well Hang in there and stay in touch and STAY SAFE !! Later Jake P
I remember that dock... I remember talking to a KITT... but it was not in the 90s. It was in the 80s. But I could have sworn the KITT I was in had the correct seats. I would have noticed something like that as a kid. lol Also... I can't believe they got a shot of my other favorite attraction from this period. The Star Trek Adventure! I loved that too!
Man i remember sitting in this car in the 80s at universal studios very young and have pictures. and oh man the old west photo booth explains a lot of why i have a picture of me and the family in old west clothes in black and white with it was next to kitt.
I want to know who the genius was that thought it was a good idea to put the car over nasty water & add ground effects even if it was for the speaker! Plus i want whatever AJ is on lol! Amazing video!
I was not on anything Well maybe a couple of Buds or a Heineken or two ,I just had my buddies from the USS RANGER ( CV-BY GOD-61) Helping me do my final Detailing on the Car Plus I was just a BIG HAM and a Rabid Knight Rider Fan in my Younger wilder days, ,( I am 67 now and a little more reserved ) , but still a avid Fan of both the show and the Car. I stopped going up to work on the Car , due to other Naval comitments that kept me from it I do miss the car and get a big Kick out of seeing all that Joe does with it. Leno's Garage, and other engagements and I appreciate what he does greatly so If you haven't done so already Visit the KNIGHT RIDER HISTORIAN'S WEBSITE and check it out , you will be amazed I know I was. !!
Would someone please answer PatientMental question about who the genius was that thought it was a good idea to put him on nasty water? i would love to know. 52.57 min video and almost 40 years and no one ever wonder why KITT would be place over water, and not on display in some mockup of the FLAG command center
Ill bet they decided to put the car on water to keep people from surrounding the car and taking “selfies” with it. If you simply fence it off people could climb over the fence but if there’s water, then probably not. Just my guess.
@DJ WRAITH Well D J I guess you would have to find out who was in charge of the Changing out of the Cars ..I have tried to find out various things from the current people who are in charge of setting up these Displays now and No body is old enough to remember anything about KNIGHT RIDER .. I can't even find out what happened to the KNI8GHT RIDER Sign that was Mounted over the Display
I loved Knight Rider so much as a kid!! I remember the long line just to sit in the car. Meanwhile, my cousins went on all the rides. I had to sit in KITT. I had so many questions to ask KITT. But when it was finally my turn sit in KITT I suddenly became overwhelmed and forgot all my questions. Still have a pictures. The only rides I remember, if you can call them rides, that I got on were Jaws, E.T. demonstrations(I did not get to ride on the bike w/E.T.😂), Battle Star Galactica, and lifting an A-Team van prop. But still worth seeing the most awesome car.
Wow! What memories! I came across to LA from England in the 90's, and visited Universal Studios may times. I remember sitting in KITT and telling him all about a fan fic I wrote where I mixed several shows together. He said he was pleased he was the star of it! LOL! MANY years later I was still writing fan fic for shows, and chose X Files as my topic. Amazingly enough, I actually got a response from Mulder (David Duchovny) who read it online in 2004! First time ever I was told by a celeb my writing was excellent! I have been making my old stories into audio books, and 'KITT's Duet' is one I am creating for fans this year! This combines Knight Rider characters with Fame, and A-Team. I now know Lee Curreri who played Bruno in Fame, and he liked my post when I said it was becoming an audio book, along with other Fame fan fics.
Well Penny , I am curious when your parents named you were they Sky KIng Fans? as that was the name of Sky's Niece I inow a lot of girls that got named after her. It sounds like you have had an interesting time Combining the Different shows .together .. and for Mulder to get such a kick out ot it thats awesome !! I am glad I could Jog your Memory about sitting in K.I.T.T. i spent many busy but happy hours working on him Back then and I am always glad to hear from people who got as much of a kick out of it as I did . Hang in there STAY SAFE AND KEEP IN TOUCH Jake P
Ok , Here's what I was told..,The dock was installed to protect the cars finish and keep kids safe ,and off the car , that's why the dock was built ,so the kids of all ages could sit in the car , and talk to It and still protect the cars finish and the safety of the kids .It was really an Offshoot of McHales Lake that they weren''t using for anything else at the time and it made a perfect place to put a dock and that's why I had to put on waders to detail the entire car

Great videos lately. Thankyou for finding and uploading. Love all these. Imagine being the first visitors to see KITT after he was cleaned and shined..🥳 Wow.
Yeah I used to stick around a while and check out there reactions to my work .. I loved the comments I got and I even had people getting selfies with me and the car in the back ground , I would love to see some of those again
YEP! I do remember this car at Universal. I am positive I still have the photo of me in the vehicle. Another photo that I have is the van from the A-Team, it was the fake full-scale replica that you could pick up off the ground.
33:53 When the Iconic Lights Flip up. It gave Kitt that allure, Thank you so much for the Awesome video. I remember the Day. I went to see Kitt the pathway was closed. My father told Me The vice of Kitt was probably sick.
Well thanks from one A J ( Jake is a knickname) to another .. I wish I could find myself a TIME TUNNEL ,and Say Move over Tony and Doug and head back to 1993 I would definitely try to make a better more clear video !!
I remember going to Universal Studios three different times to go that exact attraction to sit inside KITT, the first two were back in 1984 when I was 10 years old and I remember that the rule that there had to be a minimum of two people to be allowed to sit inside KITT, I was with my mom and one of her girlfriends, and neither of them had any desire to sit inside KITT, at the same time a guy with his daughter who was probably about the same age as me, so it was decided to have me and his daughter sit inside KITT, I go to sit in the driver's seat and that girl got to sit in the front passenger seat. The second time was with a woman who used to babysit me and some other kids, two girls, and two other boys, not to mention the babysitter's daughter who was 2 years old at the time, this time it was me and one of the two other boys she used to babysit. The third time was probably back in like 1988 or 1989, and I think by that time I got to sit inside KITT who at the point now had the season three/four dashboard. I remember the commercial where KITT said come to Universal and sit inside me and have the experience you will never forget and of course KITT never forgets anyone, but on sitting inside KITT the second time, KITT said to me "I don't remember you," to which my dad concluded later on after I told him about it, that it was obviously a different person who was playing the voice of KITT that day. I remember asking KITT where was the C button, to which he replied that after the show was canceled that button was removed, and of course when I asked where was the Super Pursuit Mode, he just replied "that information is classified" to which I was thinking more like it was KITT's way of saying "I honestly do not know where that would be located," since whenever it was used a door panel would slide open so that Michael could press it.
They had to be really careful with K.I.T.T. people liked to take un-authorized souvenirs, the first time I worked on it , I discovered that some one had cut a triangle shape out of the Steering Yoke , and I repaired it with some bondo and a vinyl repair kit and some flat black spray paint , and someone cracked the top of the front scanner I don't know if they were trying to steal it and got interrupted but it was hanging by a piece of plastic and I had to do a quick repair on it as the park was about to open ,( I did all of my work before the parks opened )
@@ajsquaredaway5343 I went there in 1996. The car looked fine outside, but inside it was trashed. Apparently, a lot of "souvenirs" have been taken already : The panels were all gone, the screen not functionning, etc. It was a sad moment, especially after watching this video where someone cleans it with white towels. Dammit.

It's funny because I remember visiting KITT in the mid 80s when I was only 5 years old, and I remember my dad talking about how shiny the car was sitting over the water. Crazy the stuff we remember.
My favorite show of all time. My teenage years always brings me thoughts of knight rider. I did get the opportunity to see David Hassellhoff when he visited South Africa in the mid 80s . It was something I Wil never forget. He had his famous Knight Rider leather jacket and a replica kitt.
I loved Knight Rider so much. God Bless the program makers Kitt and Michael Knight for some truly lovely childhood memorys Amen xxxxxxx Wow Earthly life was so much better back in these days
I visited from the Netherlands as a kid. It was a fantastic experience to be in KITT. I talked to KITT and really thought he was talking back. I know there was also the A-team show. Great series back in the 80's.
Yeah I remember the looks on the kids faces when they could lift the A Team van with one hand from the side I always wondered what would happen if a kid happened to be under the van and the hydraulics holding the van up failed? at the time they also had the rig you could strap on and jump like the Six Million Dollar Man All that's gone now .. I hope some one had the foresight to store it all somewhere .
Had the pleasure of sitting in this car many times. I seem to recall the steering wheel was fixed and didn't move like in the video. I also recall kitts voice box was working when he talked. My sister thought it sounded like kitt but universe wasn't going to fool a 13 year old.... Me!
Wow this is amazing. So glad you guys have your channel and are so active on it. I was born in 89 but always loved these cars and the show. Its interesting seeing how many sets of seat this car has had in photos. Makes sense that it would get dirty and probably easiest to swap a different set in and clean the next set.
The reason that they swapped these seats out so often is because I could only do so much when Kids got excited and peed in them , I used Lemon Pledge on the really bad spots, luckily all the doors were usually open so it aired out pretty well especially if the crowd was slow that day , ( which was highly unusual unless it was raining , Must have worked I never had anybody complain to me about it.
By putting it in the water like that they prevented people from accessing the car from anywhere else except the bridge and kept people from crowding around the vehicle Very ingenious whoever thought that up because it allowed for great line of sight all around the vehicle
Hi Al , All I can tell you is that I never had anyone fall in while I was there . That water was Cold and Slimy and hard to walk in. I would have never tried it without waders myself and I would have pitied anyone if he fell in !! later Jake

Awesome video! Never been in that Universal KITT myself but this video sure was the next best thing :) I only have old clip from newspaper from sometime in the 80's, which has a photo of the Universal KITT, but it has 2 tv dash.
Really freaking cool! There’s real KITT and I mean a real screen used vehicle and people could fully enjoy it! Thats what they are meant to be! And now its really awesome that there are still people who want to have this experience so much that they are building it back together! Also there is Indiana Jones and Star Wars music in the backround, Star Trek talk and around 40 min they find some new buttons on the dashboard which makes them laugh! :D thanks for sharing. PS. The quality of this video just makes it even more nostalgic! Its great!a
I appreciate that!, I enjoy the nostalgia of the various things that used to be around K.I.T.T. When he was on display Such as the Star Trek Experience, and the others that you mentioned I also still laugh when I think about the his and her's bathroom buttons on the side panels that i discovered ,I never found out who did that , I always suspected that the Hoff did it himself but I can't prove it. I have to agree that the quality of the video while a little annoying at first I have gotten used to over time and have gotten some favorable comments like yours.. In the mid 80s my mom took me to see one of the touring KITTS at a local mall (Paramus NJ). I don't think she took any pictures of me in it. I just remember a KITT was parked in the middle of the mall and there was a repeating loop of Willam Daniels saying "Please don't ask me any questions as I am not programmed to respond" . It was exciting but I was wise and old enough to know that it was just a prop car from a fake TV show with a guy who recorded his lines as the voice, it didn't actually have a mind of its own.
Thanks for sharing this fantastic footage. It was always a dream of mine to sit in this car. Didn’t happen as there is a long way from Denmark. Weel guess what...Today I have my own KITT-replica to drive. And I cherish the work of our tireless Knight Rider Historians who keep the hobby alive.

Thank you for sharing this. Growing up in the 80s Knight Rider, as well as A team, Airwolf especially was staple viewing for myself and others here in Australia. Oh and Dukes of Hazzard as well. I never got the chance to travel abroad to the US to see any of the major studio theme parks and their attractions. I heard Airwolf or Blue Thunder featured at one of the parts at some point for a period of time. To see this, actual video of KITT being maintained and detailed kinda makes up for never seeing it first hand as a child. Again much thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
Oh yeah and Put a Shrimp on the Barbie , for me as well , I used to love Shrimp on the Barbie in Sydney down by Kings Cross. and over by the Monorail , Is that still in operation. ? used to love traveling on that . and then Going over to the Beef and Bourbon Steak house, and then over to Porky's Club, is that still going / We used to have a lot of Ships Parties there in the Early 90's GOOD TIMES!!
Here is an update on Airwolf since you mentioned it . It ain't pretty!! and not a noble end for Airwolf Best example of " No good deed ever goes unpunished" " The Lady" as Ernie called her for as long as I knew him, even after the show was over Airwolf was pulled out of the air and after sitting on the tarp unused long enough to have grass grow around the landing gear It was sold to an Air Ambulance Company in Germany ,They had just delivered a ( I believe a little girl who was a burn victim ) to the Hospital and on the way back "The Lady " was destroyed when it crashed in the fog due to poor visibility To the best of my knowledge Airwolf was not equipped in real life with a doppler radar. if it was we would still have her. I made my only visit to Universal Studios in November of 1993 & have a picture sitting in KITT. Depending on when they did this in '93, it may have been the detail job that made KITT shine during my visit! I was a senior in high school. Pretty cool!
I would love to see that posted , That was before I ever worked on the Car , I believe I didn't start working on it until November of that Year , as memory serves,

Favorite show growing p in the eighties. When I was about 7 I got to sit in KITT at Universal Studios CA, and KITT actually ask me my name and other simple questions. I was probably spellbound at that age. Later in life I happened upon THE HOFF just vacationing in Malibu as he was about to shoot for his failed reality show. I gathered my bollux and discretely approached him and explained my fandom asking for a photo with him. He took 4 eternal seconds to look up from his phone before Enthusiastically replying " Sure! That'd be just fine" before his bitchy assistant gruffly interjected "Give Mr. Hasslehoff a minute, to finish on his phone, and I'LL be taking the picture". Almost talking over her, HOFF is already asking where I hail from, and remarking on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. HOFF couldn't have been COOLER to me. One of the best moments in my life.
My neighbor, Tim Burgess, worked at Universal Studios and was involved with getting the display up and running as well as maintaining it. Had some really fun stories. Glad to know the car was rescued and is well cared for.
Yeah I still miss working on that Car . But Joe is taking Great Care of it.. KUDOS TO HIM . AND AJ AS WELL for the work that they do to Keep Knight Rider Alive.!!
I been to this Universal theme park or Universal studios back in the 80's . To see KITT knight rider and I thought it was the coolest thing ever! In a way I felt like a piece of history myself, probably because I got to see it. It was a real privilege to talk to the famous iconic car! Makes me miss the 80's! I remember talking to KITT and asking him how deep the water was next to the car and he told me it was not very deep. I guess I feared the little pond back then. I wish they could bring it back somehow. I'd like to see Airwolf too and have a picture of it also! I want to be in the cockpit awe man I love what the 80's brought to the general public. Anyway its all good!😅
Well I can tell you that it wasn't very deep but it was sure slick and hard to negotiate I had to move very slowly to keep from falling down in he cold water ,Plus i always wore waders just in case Since you asked there are ,many pictures and videos of Airwolf online Sorry to tell you that the" The Lady" was destroyed in a Crash in Germany back in the Early 90's While in service as an Air Ambulance when it was sold after the series was cancelled after delivering a Burn Victim to Berlin Hospital ( TALK ABOUT NO GOOD DEED EVER GOES UNPUNISHED ) And the Santini Air Chopper was sold to the LA Police and is now a Police Chopper or at leas it was I don't know if its stilll flying or not Later Stay Safe Jake
Interesting to see the changes in the seats in the various photos over time. I have video somewhere of kids talking to that car. Ironically in that same vacation trip, noticed that the Hoff was on the same train car as we were on Big Thunder Mountain at Disney and he was nice enough to let me get a photo with him after the ride. I'm 6'2" and not used to many people taller than me, but that dude was tall!
They never could seem to get Mr. Daniels voice right I doubt if even Rich Little could do him justice..( No offense Rich I loved your shows at the Imperial Palace)
THANKS That was definitely the Coolest Hobby I ever had . I miss going down there and getting thumbs up as people started trickling in ..I mostly tried to finish before the park opened but some time I drew a little bit of an audience.( BIG HAM BACK THEN!!! ). Wow! Awesome treasure to have. Thanks for sharing. I love your channel. I wonder why in the old photos there are both kinds of seats? Did they have 2 different cars they switched out or did they switch the interior at points due to wear? And I wonder why they added the ground effects?
So the ground effects hid a theme park speaker? But didn't they add ground effects to one of the other cars on display somewhere else (maybe even in another country)? I have forgotten now where it was. It had raised white letter tires also Too bad I guess no cars survived the show with the interiors as they were wired during the show
I got a chance to sit on that K.I.T.T. one of my more memorable highlights. Remember like it was yesterday. Walking up the stairs from the Universal Studios by the wall waterfall and hearing the infamous scanner sound. I only being 6yrs old, ran ditching my parents to try and find what I knew was Knight Rider!!.
0:46 I was one of those thousands of fans to sit in that car. I was probably 5-7 years old and I vaguely remember sitting in kitt pushing buttons and playing with the steering wheel with kitt saying hello to me.
That was cool that he did that for the car, they were happy evidently just to let it degrade, back when I was a teen all I knew I wanted to do was see the T2 Battle Across Time attraction, I didn't know they had a Star Trek attraction right across from the Knight Rider experience, that's cool I was such a star trek geek back in the day if I heard it, I'd probably run across the park hearing the music, trying to locate it... Too bad they're all closed now...
Listen to the Back to the Future theme in the background, the future version of downtown Hill Valley replete with a DeLorean time machine was close by.
Yeah everything was pretty close by then I don't know what they have now Haven't' been there since 93 . but I used to love to go down to the Psycho House , climb the stairs and wave at the tourist's while sitting in Mama's rcking chair and eating my lunch sandwich I doubt if I could get away with that now , things were a lot looser then I believe that this was before the first fire , As Memory serves , ( my memory usually serves me up on a Platter as I get older)
I have a couple of pictures of that car from back in 89 or 90. I won a sales contest with Pepsi and got a trip to Universal to a private party with Elvira there @ Universal Studios. We had all day to walk around Universal and then went back that night for a private tour & party. It was a lot of fun and great memory's. I remember sitting in the Kitt TA and teasing back & forth with "man behind the curtain" ..oops I mean Kitt. ;)
17:00 I can hear the Indiana Jones theme Music. I don't remember if they had a ride or something about it or just the music. I think it was Disneyland that had the Indiana Ride or maybe It was Universal, I was too small to remember much of it.
LifeisaParade I remember a news report when KITT was added to Universal. KITT was actually talking to people that day. It was William Daniels, who was tucked away near a van which I saw clearly in the footage. I fantasised going up to KITT and telling him that Doctor Craig’s car was wanted in surgery.

i never heard about the ride til way later, im way over in louisiana, and my dad work for DHS, theres no way he would drive all of us to Cali for me to seat in KITT. but i do remember walking to a chevy place with drawings of the dash that i drew up and was going to get them to build me a dash, (no electronics just the dash shell)
I was there the first time and the line was so incredibly long my dad was like F this. I got to see everyone else get in driver seat though, after that never saw him again, unless on TV or the only car toy I had of him, which I got from crying a lot that same day because of not wanting in line. Now as an adult the closest I've been to knight Rider is through Burnout Paradise City. We did get to see Miami Vice that day though yet it was no kitt.
but didn't you guys found problems with this one especially since it is is over the body of water I was thinking while you see over the bottle of water is he supposed to be jet skiing off heading into the water or what he looks a bit like in the water but I'm really glad that you save this car from any further damage that the water unfortunately I live in Australia so this is the first time I seen this kit at Universal studios overseas but what I really like to know when you got this car did you find any issues

As a detailer this is fun to see. I'm surprised to see they didn't use an electric buffer. I guess that would have been tricky as the car was surrounded by water and a cord could have been submerged.

If you find it, please share! Knightriderhistorians@gmail.com
Brings back so much memories. I actually sat in that car too when I was a kid. KITT was the only reason why I wanted to go to Universal Studios.

Ill bet they decided to put the car on water to keep people from surrounding the car and taking “selfies” with it. If you simply fence it off people could climb over the fence but if there’s water, then probably not. Just my guess.
@@TheCrazyMadScientist Maybe they put it over water so it was impossible to steal the car and drive off with it? ;)

In the mid 80s my mom took me to see one of the touring KITTS at a local mall (Paramus NJ). I don't think she took any pictures of me in it. Jake Paradise, glad to have spoke with ya.
Good on Ya Karl KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK !! STAY SAFE WITH ALL THE CRAZINESS!! Later Jake
Wow.I would have loved to met the,Hoff too.I am obe of David's fans from the UK
Thank you very much for sharing this video, I really enjoyed it alot.
Our pleasure!

I did the exact same thing. Sat down with a few minutes spare, better check out that new historians video. 52 mins, damn, I'll be back later 😂
My last reply was in the wrong spot ..but DOWN A COLD ONE FOR ME!! Later Jake
I was there 2 times back in 86 I was 16 what fun times
My neighbor, Tim Burgess, worked at Universal Studios and was involved with getting the display up and running as well as maintaining it. Had some really fun stories. Glad to know the car was rescued and is well cared for.
I didn't know Tim When did he work there? I would be interested in his take on all of this ,and hear some of those stories
Awesome! Have a pic of myself sitting in it 1996
Let's see it Paul! Knightriderhistorians@gmail.com
Thats crazy seeing that picture
Of K.I.T.T. at universal studios
Cause I had that pleasure 1985.
To sit in K. I. T. T.
Childhood memories.
Way before I had a chance to work on it I didn't start till around 1990
Thank you for this awesome video!
You're Very Welcome !! Glad You liked it !!
Super cool! What a lucky guy. Thank you for sharing this video.
Yeah I still miss working on that Car . But Joe is taking Great Care of it.. KUDOS TO HIM . AND AJ AS WELL for the work that they do to Keep Knight Rider Alive.!!
Great video thanks I saw the car in the park back then.
I had the privilege see kit when I was a kid awesome experience
Hoff was Just a BIG KID , probably still is
So this is the very car I sat in In 1989. The voice that talked to me sounded just like mister Rodgers
They never could seem to get Mr. Daniels voice right I doubt if even Rich Little could do him justice..( No offense Rich I loved your shows at the Imperial Palace)
Kitt is one of the best movie car of all time., no movie car can never replace it
AMEN !!
wow that was awesome, great work and thank yo ufor sharing this with us
THANKS That was definitely the Coolest Hobby I ever had . I miss going down there and getting thumbs up as people started trickling in ..I mostly tried to finish before the park opened but some time I drew a little bit of an audience.( BIG HAM BACK THEN!!! ). I also miss being able to wander around on the back lot and checking out the other sets which at the time was " THE FLINSTONES ." They were building The Bedrock trolley , and fred"s sports car for the Movie, Also I got to talk to Roy Schieder on the SEA QUEST D.S.R.V. set Which was filming then I even still have a call sheet from one of the episodes around here some where.I will have to look for it .,I need to frame that .Later Jake .
thanks for the video. enjoyed it. it would be great if you uploaded a video talking about how you guys acquired both your original kitt cars from the show with full details and pics/videos. looking forward to more!
Sorry That's my only one It wasn't easy to do Videos back then I wish I had been able to make more of them though No Cell phones or hands free Sunglasses with Cameras back then Later
This footage is really great! Thank you for sharing!
Glad You enjoyed it Danny If you have any friends that are Knight Rider Fans that you think might enjoy this . Pass it on .. K.I.T.T. STILL ROCKS!!
It had raised white letter tires also
Too bad I guess no cars survived the show with the interiors as they were wired during the show
search by "Echtes Stück Frontscheibe von KITT aus Knight Rider" - its said to be a screen used part of this car here
HI Thomas thanks for the input .. and as always STAY SAFE, AND K.I.T.T. STILL ROCKS !!
The seats were constantly different. I saw at least 3 different seat styles in all the still shots shown here.
We would love to see any photos you may have! Knightriderhistorians@gmail.com
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial of course I'll hit the picture albums and look for them
0:46 I was one of those thousands of fans to sit in that car. I was probably 5-7 years old and I vaguely remember sitting in kitt pushing buttons and playing with the steering wheel with kitt saying hello to me.
Do you have any photos? If so we would love to see them! Knightriderhistorians@gmail.com
Unfortunately no. I will ask my mom but I don’t think she took any pics. My 2-4 year old brother was in tow so she had her hands full.
Cool. I was there in October of 93. The que to sit in KITT was too long, so I did the BTTF ride instead. Lol
Where?
I have a couple of pictures of that car from back in 89 or 90. I won a sales contest with Pepsi and got a trip to Universal to a private party with Elvira there @ Universal Studios. We had all day to walk around Universal and then went back that night for a private tour & party. It was a lot of fun and great memory's. I remember sitting in the Kitt TA and teasing back & forth with "man behind the curtain" ..oops I mean Kitt. ;)
We would love to see those photos! Knightriderhistorians@gmail.com
Full hours of retro memory
17:00 I can hear the Indiana Jones theme Music. I don't remember if they had a ride or something about it or just the music. I think it was Disneyland that had the Indiana Ride or maybe It was Universal, I was too small to remember much of it.
If it was one of the originals, why in the world did they add the ground effects?
Ground effects were added to hide a large external speaker for the theme park!
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial I noticed that too. It wasn't there in '86 when I went.
This guy was clearly inspired by this car & took it to the next level th-cam.com/video/ABiZbudOr2c/w-d-xo.html

I remember a news report when KITT was added to Universal. KITT was actually talking to people that day. It was William Daniels, who was tucked away near a van which I saw clearly in the footage. I fantasised going up to KITT and telling him that Doctor Craig’s car was wanted in surgery.
1967 Chavelle LSx
He knows the studios dont give a shit. He's just saying its sad to see a piece of tv history left to rot. He's right. It is sad to see. Thankfully the fans try to do something about it.
so apparently They thought K.I.T.T.was a boat, still cool to see,and those seat head rests were not correct.
It looked like the car kept changing. The hoop seats are 82 only.
I’m a detailer and would love to work on KITT... both my Volvos are black because I love knight rider so much ❤️
Yeah James It was fun to work on, I even got to where I didn't mind the waders so much to get around it... I sure do miss it ..Joe Huth offered me a chance to sit in it again Maybe drive it , , I just have to get to Pennsylvania to do it..But if he ever gets it close to Apple Valley , Ca. I will definitely take him up on it . He is doing a great Job on both keeping K.I.T.T. In great shape and Keeping Knight Rider alive with the Knight Rider Historians .Website . . Later Jake
Just met jake today! Awesome guy
Thank Mikey You are Awesome Your self , Have a Great Rest of the Summer !!
it looked rough when i visited , like it was cleaned with a brillo pad , whats with the bumper spoiler
I don't know what year it was you visited but when I first saw it I could see the damage all the way down to the primer coat, It was BAD!! Thats why I came up with the Idea to try TR-3 on it because it worked so well on my own Neon. and the rest is history
Crazy how many pairs of seats they went through. I've counted at least 4 different pairs in the picture slide show at the beginning so far 😂👍
I can't tell you how many seats were ruined , ( i didn't change them ) but some one did,, When a kid gets real excited what do some of them do? ..Let me put it this way after the first time I always tried to sit on a towel , I didn't for the video ,because the seats were dry and I didn't think sitting on a towel made for good movie making
As a Non Professional Detailer I appreciate it that as a Professional Detailer you enjoyed the video,. .There were times that I wish I could have had the car removed from the Water. But that wasn't happening ..It never occurred to me to see if there was a Cordless Buffer on the Market at that time. Hind sight is always 20/20 .. STAY SAFE .. LATER Jake.
i never heard about the ride til way later, im way over in louisiana, and my dad work for DHS, theres no way he would drive all of us to Cali for me to seat in KITT. but i do remember walking to a chevy place with drawings of the dash that i drew up and was going to get them to build me a dash, (no electronics just the dash shell)
Looks great
I was there the first time and the line was so incredibly long my dad was like F this.
These are different cars. Check out the headrests...some of the pics show PMD seats but then these look like leather
Even the bumper is different
That's awesome
i visited it when I was 14 back in the day-loved seeing it but always wondered why they put it over water
but didn't you guys found problems with this one especially since it is is over the body of water I was thinking while you see over the bottle of water is he supposed to be jet skiing off heading into the water or what he looks a bit like in the water but I'm really glad that you save this car from any further damage that the water unfortunately I live in Australia so this is the first time I seen this kit at Universal studios overseas but what I really like to know when you got this car did you find any issues
Oh man. You can hear the back to the future the ride theme on the background.
YEAH THOSE WERE THE DAYS!! I used to go over and take a ride to wind down after working on K.I.T.T. When the ride was still in operation that is I dont recall when they shut that down.I was always loose as a goose afterwards That was always the trouble with Universal Studiios, when ever something new went up something old came down and went to the Scrap heap Due to limited space .. HANG IN THERE STAY SAFE !!. Later Jake
As a detailer this is fun to see. I'm surprised to see they didn't use an electric buffer. I guess that would have been tricky as the car was surrounded by water and a cord could have been submerged.
My first job was at Universal. I had several positions while I was there. When I worked nights, it was my job to wipe down this KITT. This video really brings back memories.
What year did you work there , Did You Know Jeff? ,( I won''t use his last name) but everybody knew him ..He was responsible for the Car in the late 80's early 90's when I worked with him on it. and he worked for Scott did you by any chance know him ?
I knew him...actually he worked WITH Scott, not for him....they have been buddies for many years.
@@michaelb6008 Hi Micheal ,I knew Jeff for a couple of years , I only met Scott one time and I thought I heard Jeff say that he worked for Scott, My hearing was getting bad even then , and I lost track of Jeff over the years , Have you heard anything from him lately? ., I havent seen him since 93 when we made that video. Due to various Job and family responsibilities over the Years Time Flies !! Later Jake
