I was at this game today and it was an amazing experience. Although I was cheering for saskatchewan it was cool to see the Argos operate on all cylinders. This was my second cfl game ever and first in 4 years when I went to touchdown Atlantic 2019 in Moncton.
Yeah, I don’t know why the CFL thinks 9 teams and uneven divisions is acceptable after such a long time. I don’t care where thy put the expansion team, but they gotta put a team somewhere.
@@justinress2782 Not as many population centres in Canada as USA. 20,000 seat stadium is small college size. And no multi-Billion dollar TV contracts like the NFL. Insofar as Team 10? Maybe Quebec City before the Maritimes? It comes down to how many seats can you fill on a consistent basis. Maybe a team in Windsor?

In this game between the Rough Riders and the Argos, #8 defender for the Argos intercepted a pass and ran it back for a touchdown. Before crossing the goal line, he turned around and ran backwards which in my eyes, he paid homage to the Alouettes great RB Johnny Rodgers. Anybody catch that?

ALthough I am an Argo fan, I really thought that the Riders actually outplayed the argos. Chad Kelly was not having a good game and he had to rely on the running game and the defense and specialty teams. The Argos got some lucky breaks too.

Halifax should be a great city to have a 10th CFL team. That way there, both divisions can have 5 teams each. After all, Halifax is on the East side of Canada isn't it? I was gonna say Quebec City, but I forgot there's already a team in Quebec.
Hey, Halifax has a descent stadium. Would that mythical 10th CFL team share it with St. Mary's University? Oh, I just found out it's only 11,000 capacity so it literally needs to be trippled in size just to be half the capacity of Common Wealth Stadium in Edmonton. I think if potential ownership cannot see their way to construct a new, modern 30,000 seat football stadium with luxury boxes, it's just not worth it because they will not generate enough revenue.
Fair point but not sure that commonwealth is a fair benchmark . Goliath of a stadium that hasn't been close to being full in over a decade. Newer stadiums are in the 20-30 range. where they played yesterday is a set of temporary stands not really a stadium per se. Ofcourse haligonians are particularly protective of the commons so that would likely be a nonstarter for most folks in hrm and would have a hell of a time getting municipal go-ahead
This was not a pleasant way to spend a flight as a riders fan. I was shocked to see they had live TV on my plane and was hyped that I wouldn’t miss TD Atlantic. But I might as well have missed it anyway!

Not sure about your first question but for the second, yes, the team would most likely be located in Halifax (although I've heard Moncton mentioned as well). The problem is getting the $$$ to build a 20k+ capacity stadium. IMO, Ambroisie just doesn't have the business acumen (and the connections) to get the deal signed. The CFL needs a new commissioner who is a closer. Every year, they keep having this game in Atlantic Canada and every year, they still can't make a tenth team a reality.
The Maritimes will get a franchise wherever there is the most interest and money behind it. A city will need a CFL approved stadium and be able to host a Grey Cup.
Cornered end zones tend to show up at stadiums with a built-in track. For example, the Montreal Alouettes play at a stadium like that. And prior to 2014, Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton was similarly cornered.

I did , even though it pained me as a rider fan , Johnny Rogers was the first of the new era athletes on the 70’s

Both teams relied on their defence, but Saskatchewan made more unforced errors on O and lost.
The riders beat themselves this game. Several times in the red zone and no points. They had so many good drives that they threw away.
