Idolatry is what caused me to have my radical moment of conviction by the Holy Spirit two months ago. I thought of myself as a decent follower of God because I would spend 30 seconds a day or so praying to thank Him for all the blessings He has given me, and I thought that was enough. A good starting mindset perhaps, but I’d never read the Bible and had zero understanding of the concept of salvation through faith, not works. Also, the vast majority of my free time and passion was spent on board games and entertainment (the idolatry in question). I didn’t even realize it, my only concept of idolatry was a statue of a golden calf in the desert a long time ago; I didn’t realize there is a modern analogue. So my introduction into being born again gave me a clear sense of how sinister and subtle the enemy’s tactics can be; we can be distracted from God and the fundamentals of our salvation by things that aren’t overtly wicked or unlawful. I still feel the pull of my games, but I’m much more aware and diligent in deprioritizing them and pursuing Jesus’ teachings now.
I love hearing about these types of Holy Spirit moments! He's our best defense against the enemy attacks, and since he indwells in every believer, we are always able to feel his presence and ask for help and it sounds like you are understanding that! It's something I've really had to focus on myself, as I can really fall into the idolatry of the world if I'm not careful. We will all do that, but it's the believer who's anchored in the word and walking with the Spirit as the guide that will come out victorious on the other side, because Jesus has overcome the world already, so we have nothing to fear. As I've noticed, you get better at being able to enjoy the things you enjoy, but it instead of placing them OVER God, they become a gift from God, and when that's your perspective, there's true joy in that, and you can glorify God through that. Thank you for your comment and for watching!
hey dude i am completely agnostic in ife as far as beliefs go, however this is cool how you present the bible in this type of context! reading the desrciption and title is very cool!
@@haydenlaupland totally understand that! This type of video is the other side of the channel essentially. It all links to my music project, Flesh Revolt, which leans heavily on scripture and my life as a Christian. It's new, TH-cam wise (I've been posting the scripture study videos for a while now though) and I'm trying navigate everything I'll post, but there will be music content, guitar stuff, and then my Bible study section. I appreciate you being here for it regardless of your views! Thanks for watching.
@@fleshrevolt of course man! i thought my whole life i was atheist.. turns out i was wrong! i stand on the side of agnosism! haha if you know what that belief means! were all connected in life either way and we must stay united! power on man!
@ I spent most of my life on that side of things, until I had a radical encounter with the holy spirit about 6 years ago and it's been the leading path of my life since. So I definitely know what you're saying!
