Buckin’ - Please don’t stop teaching. Please don’t stop repeating your lessons and tips. To most novices, a chainsaw seems like a simple motorized tool, as does falling trees, bucking trees, splitting firewood, sharpening chains, etc. However, I think those of us who are not professional woodsmen but watch your teaching videos religiously learn something new from each video, or we hear something we haven’t consciously retained to memory, even though you might have said it 300 times before in other videos. There’s a lot to running chainsaws effectively and safely, as there is to falling, limbing, and bucking logs safely for the mill or firewood. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us again and again and again. Your knowledge, experiences, tips, etc., save most of us a lot of heartache and probably a few stitches, broken bones, or worse.

Hi. I always enjoy your videos. I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on filing being the cause of the crooked cut. Is it that the angles are inconsistent? Thank you sir.

Great information as always my friend! I will always give a few strokes to my teeth when it's not cutting as it should. Running skip chain it really takes no time to keep one performing at its best. You waste so much time cutting with a dull saw. You might not notice it as much bucking logs but anyone that cuts firewood knows what I'm talking about haha. Keep buckin my friend!
Good deal I got into some embedded barbed wire all my teeth are different, i didn't panick and followed your instructions and i was back cutting in no time. Thanks again Buckin!!!
Brother Buckin what you said about "God won't give you anything you can't handle" is true. My late uncle told this to my father a couple of years after my cousin (his son) and his two children (8 and 10 ) were killed by a drunk driver. For that man to say that tells me that HAS to be a true statement. LOVE your channel
I think more important than getting each tooth the same length which never happens is keeping the angle consistent on both sides, and keeping your bar rails in good shape. But I do believe it’s smoother when you have similar size teeth on each side. It’s like balancing a tire or a ceiling fan..the bigger the difference the more vibration
SO true when tuning in my rakers I like to use carlton file o plate part no. 37501.. on this gauge you can measure your cutters. . not every stroke with a file cuts the same amount so you can't really count yer strokes. .but do try to keep cutters even in the bush i use file only .we always take bucken spikes off you can make longer cuts. . if you have to pry through the wood. somethins not right ,
Hi Buckin and the Buckin Army, I have a 268 wit the old metal kickback lever with a steel adjustment wheel, when i apply downward force on the saw whilst cutting the handle presses on that wheel and trips the brake. My chain is the same way on my little cs 4510 semi chisel with the 5/32 file . Cuts like a champ it's all thanks to a good teacher. Yes we are REALLY into ufc. I have been watching since UFC 1 when I was 5 years old. Im 36 now. Nice video, I have a PROYAMA chainsaw from Amazon,it is also good,I often cut wood with it now.I have run brand names for many many years and I cut very large trees of all kinds, I am impressed with this saw! Ir starts super easy and runs great. I ran 7 tanks on some very large hard maple and some red oak and it did just fine non stop but to fill. the stock chain did fine. I did touch it up before I ever started and set the guides my way, it ran like butter on it all. I didnt have any dirt to deal with so the chain stayed sharp. I then put a 8ten chain on and it ran just the same, no issues at all. the only thing i did have a issue with was the rubber gasket under the fuel cap, it swelled, wrong rubber, but contacted proyama and they sent out new caps with O rings on them and have not had any leaks. They are very open to input on this as to improve anything and also assured me if I hve any issues they will be there and make it right! very good response from the seller. When you are round filing on the tailgate the saw is moving under your weight. If you had even a small vise you would get a straighter cutting edge when the saw does not move. It obviously works the way you do it, but the chain would be sharper if you secured the bar in a vise. It could simply be a small vice mounted to 2x10 plank piece.
My son was sharpening the saw and got distracted and only filed 1 side of the chain. When he put the saw into the next log it was trying to cut circles.

the only thing I've been told is that chains filed unevenly like you've shown increases vibration, however small, when cutting which increases chances of carpal tunnel syndrome ect. but I don'tr see it makes a huge difference
Set the rakers with a gauge and that's not a problem anymore. Raker height matters. Cutter length is irrelevant
Why the twist of the file on the back stroke?
To cut straight make sure you keep your teeth at the proper angle… loose wrists sinks ships from experience
If it's cutting crooked then you can try sharpening it right. There you go.
