Well, it’s almost official, I bought my first truck to start my tree business. I owe you so so much Buckin! Thank you for being such a positive voice with so many great lessons. You’ve changed my life tremendously for the better. Love you Buckin!!
Just wanted to tell you I love your videos, and I think my 11 month old daughter loves them even more! So calming and reassuring in this world. Thank you…
The old Vogelzang in my cabin is coming back to life after a long hot season like a reverse hibernation. A full woodshed, the temperature dropping, snowflakes flying, shortly a pot of tea on the stove. Then the glory of winter.
Firewood season in full effect here in the Rockies. Got a little quarter cord in great granpas pickup, my grandma helped with a broken back. Firewood isn’t just a pile of wood for us.
I use pine cones from white pines and scrap trim wood from my home projects. No paper. The sap from the white pine is like gasoline and the cone is like paper. And your words have lingered with me also. I know exactly what you mean, “you be the judge of how hard you worked”, so true.
Hey Billy I just want to thank you for everything you're doing. I love tree trimming and tree felling and rebuilding chainsaws I enjoy learning everything you're teaching. keep up the good work , God bless you and keep safe. I really love your spirit
That is such a beautiful location and your father being able to enjoy both nature and that view, what a lifetime of memories. Now we are all gifted this special place to view with you. Just watching you build a simple fire is just pure comfort even though we are thousands of miles away. Thanks Pops 🙏♥️♥️
And all these years, I have been throwing my "noodles" on the burn pile!!😮😮 I'm gonna start bagging those slices of goodness!!! Haha thanks for sharing your art brother❤❤ love ya my friend, good ta see ya keeping pops place alive and well✊️✊️❤️ the Barth home, sends ya love my friend❤️❤️💪🪵🌲🪓
Love the content, Buckin'! Just did some work on an MS310 gifted to me from a friend. I upsized the bar to 28" with a skip-tooth chain so I can STAND UP AND BUCK!!
I was just thinking while you were starting the Fire. How that was similar to starting good habits, and keeping them going. Kind of hard at first, and then gets easy. It's so peaceful at your Dad's House. Thanks Buckin.
When my neighborhood was built, the builder included fireplaces in all the houses. Most of the neighbors actually use them too. I like going outside on a crisp night when there’s a full moon, and you can see the smoke coming from all the chimneys and the whole community just smells amazing
I start mine the same way as you do. I try to avoid paper. I run 7 to 9 cords of firewood so very low Lp usage on the furnace. Love the heat from wood. I like your channel and enjoy your outlook on life in general. Thanks!!
You often dont think about how life will be when a love one passes, but it does change our lives when it happens for sure. I get what your going through!
I spent all day yesterday cleaning trees up that fell on my friends property burned 2 gallons of saw gas. Luckily he only lost a small shed, the house is safe. It got western out here with the bomb cyclone.
Funny how, the guy with all the power saws becomes the most popular when mother nature releases her wrath. Had a mini 🌪 touch down at a friend's house, the whole neighborhood knew my first name. New 390 got broken in quickly that week. Fulfilling experience. Luckily I was laid off from work. 😮
At my place in Saskatchewan, I only have white poplar on my land. We heat our house with a wood stove. When winter hits the fire never goes out unless we have to go away for more than 2 days. Usually, I use paper to start and cold coals to relight the fire. Thanks for sharing again.👍
G'day Buckin, Trifecta winning post off to the races ! speaking of which international jockeys believe the Melbourne cup to be the greatest race on Earth. The owner of the winning horse Rod Baine lives two miles down our road, I've yet to congratulate him he's worked hard his whole life and at 73 picked up $5 mill . Professional firewood merchants like we used to be would get feedback from customers on what burned the best and experiment at home with all species and aspects of fires open and stoves, this allows you to sell a better product . PS I'm a criss cross man no teepee for me 👍.
So ive been a subscriber since around 56000 subs which seems like just afew short years ago. My how your messages have reached hundreds of thousands. More like millions, im sure of it. I haven’t tuned into a live sunday in many moons but i look forward to the next time i do.
I use the swiss methode for years now. So you start with large pieces en small on top. I nearly see smoke when the fire starts. Nice channel and videos
I start my little stove in my camper van with birch bark pieces in the bottom then make a small log cabin with some small pieces since the box is only 18 inches long 10 inches high and 14 inches wide once it burns that to coals I'll put larger pieces on top and they burn for a long time.
I like to start the same way, except I put one log on either side and then criss-cross to make a little jenga tower. I light the kindling in the middle and the whole tower goes fast.
Hello Billy Ray, I bought one of those propane weed Burners for $15, about 10 years ago. I use it to light trash, year round. But it really excels at lighting my wood stove, without using paper or kindling. Shalom/gw ❤
I pretty much build my fire the same as you Buckin' (paper instead of noodles though). Last year I started with an upside down fire. I find it easier when it's really cold to warm up the flue and you can start it and walk away. Great if you're multitasking. Wranglerstar had a great video. Try it. You might like it!
I took not of the hoodie you're wearing. It reminded me to thank you for helping me finally "get the gullet." My saws cut so much better and it doesn't take long to shapen them. Practice. Practice. Practice. 😂
I stack 3 rows of 3 sticks each, never more to save on starting wood thru winter. Cedar is the best starting would on earth. But I put the split wood on top before I ignite the paper
Once you’ve built a couple of fires, its very intuitive. My friends and I started building fires in the winter at 10-11, got our asses whooped by our moms coming home smelling like wood smoke 😂 Dry wood is a given, next its all about airflow and placement! Every camping trip ive been on with friends i have been the fireman, literally obsessing over the fire. Its a great honor to be fireman on a camping trip!
😊😊 HI BUCKIN I have seen wood 🪵 😊 stoves like that be 4 when they are cold 😮😮 they pull enough air in the beginning U have 2 leave the door 🚪 😊 open so stove will have enough air not all wood stoves have the vent wheels on them and U have 2 open the damper in the stove pipe that 2 will help the stove draw more air alot better it does clear up after the stove is hot and the wood 🪵 😊 also makes a difference also 😊😊 OMG 11 21 2O24
When I burned wood I was also very proud of everything about it from the size of my splits of wood to my stacks to the different ways I had to run my stove. I would always have the same sight a little light smoke at first start up then no visible smoke out the chimney. Only on very cold days their would be like water vapor coming out the chimney. I do miss running my wood stove maybe I'll go back. Over the last few years I have been mastering the anthracite coal fire however very high coal prices might put me back to wood burning
You can also put about an inch or two of diesel fuel in a 5 gal. bucket and put you kindling sticks in the bucket to soak and use them to start the fire. Keep the bucket outside until needed.
There are components to "work hard" that can be expanded upon. #1) Show up early. If the boss says be there at 7:00am, show up at 6:50. #2) Be prepared. Get as much information as you can about what the job is for that day. Ask questions. Don't be afraid to look like a "geek" by asking questions. #3) Always stay busy at the job site. If you find yourself with nothing to do, ask someone what needs to be done. #4) Stay late. Ask the boss at the end of the shift if they need help with anything. They might say "no" the first few times but eventually you'll get a "yes" and you might find you're doing something really cool and learning some new skills.
Have you tried the small splitter I sent you? They are great for splitting kindling. I also use mine to drive small wedges or limb in very confined spaces. Great video with a great message as always.
😊😊 HI BUCKIN that house cat 🐈 😊 isn't thinking 🤔 😊 about nothing fish or something else 2 eat they 2 eat alot more than U think 😉 😮 only unless there aren't hungry at all its very seldom when they are like that at all 😊😊 OMG 11 21 2O24
Thanks for a great video. Hey, Buckin, which video were you in cutting the storm damaged tree for your friend that was from Germany in the snow? He was awesome. Keep up the great work! 😃
Salut 🫡 jolie petite maison 🏡 tranquille 😌 avec un bon petit feu 🔥 et le jolie 🥰 chat 🐈 manque juste un bon café ☕️ devant la fenêtre ou sur la terrasse 😎
Snap, crackle, pop time.Hyperbaric is a greater than normal gas or O2 pressure. Was that a kingfisher? It's not good in the Pacific Northwest. You take care now. Thank you.
When? When? when the world around us no longer knows how to create a fire with little stuff, kindling, dryer lint. They will be the ones that God will lavishly take for Angels in the world around us.
Well, it’s almost official, I bought my first truck to start my tree business. I owe you so so much Buckin! Thank you for being such a positive voice with so many great lessons. You’ve changed my life tremendously for the better. Love you Buckin!!
Your videos are like sitting in a room with an old friend just chatting, you make the world a happier place buckin 😊
I second
It kinda is . Love ya buddy , thx
So beautiful
Wranglerstar says you start the fire on top 😂 apparently heat sinks where he lives
Just wanted to tell you I love your videos, and I think my 11 month old daughter loves them even more! So calming and reassuring in this world. Thank you…
I've tried both the bottom up method, and top down Swedish method. Both work .
I truly miss having a woodstove

Can’t stop that generation eh Clever!! Good on ya Granpas 💪💪 now heal up!!❤
Pops lived in such a gorgeous place. That view on the deck is so peaceful and majestic. It would be easy to sit out there and a few hours pass by.
He worked his whole life and lived here
I use pine cones from white pines and scrap trim wood from my home projects. No paper. The sap from the white pine is like gasoline and the cone is like paper.
And your words have lingered with me also. I know exactly what you mean, “you be the judge of how hard you worked”, so true.

That’s an amazing house. I hope you keep it in the family for generations.
That is the plan
been waiting for this one all year thanks Buckin! might get ours going tonight too, what a blessing!
Right on
I love it here. Watching while looking at my glorious fire. I’m happy it’s cold enough, even in Louisiana, to run my fireplace. Buckin rocks!
Love ya
Buckin' is just a master at all things, including being kind.
Perfect timing, I'm literally starting up my stove. 1979 Vermont Castings Defiant. 👍 I use the same method as described.
Me to I have the defiant encore top load is the best in my opinion
Right on!
Love ya Buck. Keep on keeping brother
Love the content, Buckin'! Just did some work on an MS310 gifted to me from a friend. I upsized the bar to 28" with a skip-tooth chain so I can STAND UP AND BUCK!!
I am amazed at how clear the water is
Kind advice, stunning view, and a gorgeous kitty. It's a perfect video!
GOOD JOB!. WHAT A STORM WE HAD! YIKES!.....BE KIND
I was just thinking while you were starting the Fire. How that was similar to starting good habits, and keeping them going. Kind of hard at first, and then gets easy. It's so peaceful at your Dad's House. Thanks Buckin.
Buckin, your dad’s place looks like a peaceful place to be keep the videos coming 👍😮😊❤
Exactly how you'd start a fire when you're camping, start tiny, build it slowly 🎉
Good Morning Buckin another great show while having my
Morning 🌄 coffee ☕️ 👍
Johno 🇦🇺
Hey Jonny Boy
Very nice house by the lake...
I greet you from Germany..
Peter.
I'm so truly happy that I have been able to absorb some of your energy Buckin, I am honestly a better person for it. Thank you brother❤
You are so welcome. Thank you for the love
Got the fireplaces start right Here in germany also now. I use shavings and small dry wood to get it going or a small propane torch if needed
When my neighborhood was built, the builder included fireplaces in all the houses. Most of the neighbors actually use them too. I like going outside on a crisp night when there’s a full moon, and you can see the smoke coming from all the chimneys and the whole community just smells amazing
Same in my neighborhood
Happy to hear you n yours are ok after that not so nice weather. I was thinking of you all❤
Thanks so much
I would never leave that dock. Love the water
I love starting a fire with cedar. It would be fun seeing a timelapse of the chimney from start with smoke to clear.
I'd love to live in that house 🙂 but would paint it a nice warm sunflower yellow 😉🌻
Check out a top down fire, it’s the only thing I do in my wood furnace now.
What a beautiful place!! Love ya bud!
I start mine the same way as you do. I try to avoid paper. I run 7 to 9 cords of firewood so very low Lp usage on the furnace. Love the heat from wood. I like your channel and enjoy your outlook on life in general. Thanks!!

You bet
Good info for sure loved the little quote you put up in the top of the screen so true !
Glad you liked it!
You should try the top down method I'VE been starting my fire's that way and its great thanks for your great videos
Awesome mate. Such a great finish to the video mate. From the heart. Love your work. I look forward to seeing your next clean up jobs.
I spent all day yesterday cleaning trees up that fell on my friends property burned 2 gallons of saw gas. Luckily he only lost a small shed, the house is safe. It got western out here with the bomb cyclone.
I'm here in Nor Cal we're in the middle of the storm gonna be riding it out for a few more days
Every time I've ever been in California during inclement weather, there is always a burn ban on lmao.
Stay safe out there!!
Billy thanks again my friend ✊️🪓
Thanks for sharin Buckin. Your advice experience and insight are invaluable.
My pleasure
Thx friend
Great tip Buckin, I saved buckets of red oak noodles after seeing one of your videos a couple weeks ago!!!
Good stuff
They dry out quickly
Thanks Buckin 🙏🏻

Great video buckin I’ve been watching hogan in a big cedar on another channel you’ve made a really good tree worker top man
Got lots of birch bark and cedar kindling. Deadly firestarter
I use the swiss methode for years now. So you start with large pieces en small on top. I nearly see smoke when the fire starts. Nice channel and videos

Like your videos. In illinois we have oak, cherry hickory and hedge we use for wood.i liked your video with the cow a Douglas fir

I miss my wood burning insert fireplace.
In the northeast USA we've already had a few days of below freezing temperatures.
One more week and I’ll be back home starting my stove just like that.
Can’t wait..
Happy for you
You can also put about an inch or two of diesel fuel in a 5 gal. bucket and put you kindling sticks in the bucket to soak and use them to start the fire. Keep the bucket outside until needed.
Central PA still have my windows open for a few hours a day.
Doing good becomes as easy as doing bad. The more you do of either one, the easier it is to do either one.

A sport is the sound a duck makes when it farts in the water. Sport, sport.
A fast, high heat to heat up the chimney will create a good draft.
Just started one
Greif, a terrible wonderful thing or is it a wonderful terrible thing, I'm not sure. My heart breaks for you Buckin
Try old motor oil and saw dust mix it together and it is a great firestarter
U are the best ❤
That probably smells so good.

What recommendations do you have for keeping the glass clean or is it just constantly cleaning it just one of the nature of the beast?
Show time my friends
Thanks for a great video. Hey, Buckin, which video were you in cutting the storm damaged tree for your friend that was from Germany in the snow? He was awesome. Keep up the great work! 😃
That works, but try it in reverse. Big stuff on bottom to smaller to small to the shavings on top. Get some fat lighter for the starter.
Salut 🫡 jolie petite maison 🏡 tranquille 😌 avec un bon petit feu 🔥 et le jolie 🥰 chat 🐈 manque juste un bon café ☕️ devant la fenêtre ou sur la terrasse 😎
Million dollar views from your father's home 🏡
Bucking do you have guys that use small boats that grab those loose logs and sell them back to logging companies
Beach combers
Wow free wood delivery if you live on the lake lol

ARE YOU GUYS OKAY OUT THERE BUCKIN I HEAR CEDAR GOT HAMMERED BY THE BOMB
We’re ok . Power out still in places
@BuckinBillyRaySmith glad to here it
As crazy as it sounds put biggest on bottom and your kindling on top it starts better give it a try
Work smart too.
