  • @riccappa
    @riccappa 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Before you had hands like this, maybe as a kid, how did you practice to develop these skills and how often? Lastly how long did it take?

    • @PavelBarber
      @PavelBarber  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh god yes - I practiced a lot. I failed a lot, and I corrected a lot. I didn't have a set time, but I got out there as much as I could. Indoors with a stick and a golf ball, outdoors playing ball hockey or roller hockey at a nearby park rink. Use your resources! Best advice I can ever give. You may think you have only a little, but it can be a lot. What matters is the quality of your practice.

  • @darranedmundson1505
    @darranedmundson1505 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pavel, at speed are you actually stopping the puck with the back of the blade on the fake shot? Or is it one continuous motion forward straight into the drag across? It looks like you catch it with the back of the toe already moving across rather than the back of the middle of the blade.

    • @PavelBarber
      @PavelBarber  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's all one fluent motion. The puck never stops, it just changes direction. Though when learning it, I always encourage people to do it in 2 stages (stopping it) just to get the contact point down.

  • @Baseballfan19946
    @Baseballfan19946 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Pav how does the Colt stick feel compared to and APX2? Does the blade have the same feel for the puck; you always know where the puck is on your blade?

    • @PavelBarber
      @PavelBarber  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Colt 2 Gen Raw feels good - I like my APX for stickhandling the most - I don't have the APX 2 yet.

  • @RyanFRails
    @RyanFRails 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pavel that was so dirty, bro. My problem with that trick, tho is elevation. I just can't get the puck to come up maybe but a millimeter or two off the ground.

    • @PavelBarber
      @PavelBarber  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +UhnonymisPrsn27 After the backhand toe drag you need to put it from your backhand toe to the backhand heel for the backhand shot release. Any shot released at the toe won't elevate it as much.

    • @PavelBarber
      @PavelBarber  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The backhand toe of the blade needs to be over the puck in the opposite side you are dragging it. I will be coming out with a tutorial to help you guys through it in the next couple months! It will be in depth and very helpful for you

      Hamza Issa I think it all comes down to the brand name like for an example: CCM is owned by Reebok and Reebok really isn't known in the hockey world most people only know of CCM. So the titles can come into play when it comes to different versions of sticks

      I'll answer that - you need to be better in all areas - toughness is a big factor as well. I never took it serious enough when I was younger, I kind of just played for fun - I'm excited to help others achieve NHL status or just get better to enjoy the game more on any level now.
