I love how he says, "isn't that just stupid..." While it is of course, brilliant, he gets his point across that we should not be fooled and most of the things we accept in society are just a sleight of hand.

These type of tricks are way more exciting to see than the real magic tricks

Timing.Brilliant misdirection,wonderful supportive audience participation with the routine.And the pure Magical Reaction on Rebel Wilson's amazed but entertained facial expressions .One routine I am sure will be learned practiced first hopefully then entertain many this season of goodwill. I saw him in a magic show with a guy who looks exactly like Teller.
I love it when they do these types of tricks but I REALLY love it when they trick the audience at the end of it. For example if he at the end made the rope a solid loop or something and the audience wasn't shown how it was done.
Probably because P&T have really been punished, by their peers, for revealing how tricks are done. They probably learned that they can get away with the sort of thing you mentioned...reveal how the trick was done (sorta...) and then re-confuse the audience with more mystery.
That's what Penn Jillette would have done. This Penn Julliete fellow has a different style, though.
There's a fold to do the trick without the gimmick.. don't know why he didn't end with that
He and Teller have done some routines like that in their live shows.

A good well performed trick is still great, even knowing how it is done.
Don't worry. If you learnt something from that video, then you still don't know how magic is done.
Penn and teller only ever reveal really corny or old magic tricks and in so doing they show you something more impressive then seeing the same lame magic shop trick for the 1000th time, they show you the skill, misdirection and humor behind it. Their Blastoff routine, Teller smoking a cigarette, sawing someone in half, or the cups and balls are all good examples of this.
@@doc-holliday- I agree. But there was a show in past (I forget the name) where a masked magician showed how different tricks were made. I had to stop watching the show because he was ruining it for me. I love seeing great magic, but I don't look up how it's done because the mystery is a main part for it for me. :)
