Good explanation, man. CONTRAST, ultimately, is the most important thing - the human eye has more receptors for contrast (light/dark) than color receptors. Contrast is also the last thing you can see before full darkness (as it becomes night, colors start to disappear) But complementary colors are already contrasting (purple / yellow.. Blue / orange) . And you can always take a slightly darker shade of the darker color, or a lighter shade of the lighter color to increase the contrast. I like your examples of the different color wheels - I honestly forget sometimes that not everyone knows about those :) . (Studied art, as well as design, and worked as a designer for 15 years - apparently I have a blind spot for what other people might not know :)) Oh, and a good thing to keep in mind: the color of the background you're painting on; If it's a light background like concrete, outline w/ the darker color. olive green fill with a bright red outline bronze fill with a subtle green outline pastel yellow fill with a hunter green outline nd add some dark red splashes, drips or stars (not the prettiest color combos i just think theyre kinda odd nd stand out if u want sum good color combos look at a fkn color wheel)
The colours opposite each other in the wheel are CONTRASTING The ones on either side of a colour are COMPLIMENTARY The HOT and COLD thing is accurate but you are slightly confused with your colour combination terms and words but I mentioned it above for you. The color wheel is a bit wonky, complimentary colors are reds & greens, oranges & blues, and purples & yellows. Using colors that are nearly complimentary are pretty neat too tho
Sorry sir... blue and yellow are not complimentary colors... they are primary... making green... blue and orange would be the complimentary colors and then yellow and purple... using primary colors together can give an optical illusion from a distance... ✌
I like black and pink either way. Red and silver . Blue and yellow and the same colors just light and dark . Always a nice white double outline . My opinion I like my double outline a different color then the fill and outline. Not a big fan of the double outline the same as the fill color

Hate to be that guy but complimentary to yellow should be purple. Whenever two complimentary colors are combined the result is brown. So blue and orange (one of the greats).
Never use RGB, that’s only used in digital platforms not in real life\ nature. blue and yellow aren’t complementary. Complementary colors are ones that are exactly opposite of each other on the color wheel. There are 3 primary colors, yellow, blue and red. This means that you cannot create these colors by mixing other colors, these colors come from nature, and all other colors stem from their combination. Now tell me, how is yellow complementary to blue if the wheel is divided into 3? It’s impossible.

Can you tell me what colors do you mix to make yellow, or red, or blue? In RGB (red, green, blue) it uses these colors as its primary, how can green be a primary? It’s a secondary. You mix blue and yellow to make green. In RGB (digital) it’s stated that if you combine green and red, you make yellow, that is simply not true in nature nor reality. Red and green are complementary, therefore if you mix them you will get a color closer to a muddy brown. Colors on screen do not represent reality.
But some things just arent attractive to the general eye. Like in this case some colors just cause a chemical reaction to the eye that isnt pleasing to look at. If you like that effect go for it but if you are aiming to do something not only you like I think there is right and wrong.

This is a great video, been using just black and white for so fucking long because it's so difficult to pick out different colors.
