The saddest thing for the Dodgers team is the news of the passing of the great Fernando Valenzuela. It is very sad that he no longer had the opportunity to see his Dodgers win after 41 years where he was the star pitcher. Rest In Peace Fernando 'El Toro" Valenzuela. 😢
As a Yankees fan, much respect to Fernandomania! Crazy thing about El Toro, his biggest moment on the grandest stage, World Series, occurred during October of 1981.
I was born just a month after that classic went down. Shame that I never got to see that hard scrabble match-up. I did get to see the Mets in '86, my Yankees from '96 through 2000. The passing of Mr. Valenzuela feels like an eerie omen. A rallying cry for Dodger Blue. Here's to a helluva Series!❤

It’s no secret this is the matchup mlb and baseball purists wanted. Two historic franchises, two of its biggest stars, they can market it as a superbowl. Which is how you get non baseball fan’s attention.

He definitely isnt. MLB wieghts are never that accurate because they never really get updated. Guys get weighed before they are drafted/signed as IFA's and then thats just what is listed for their whole career basically unless someone (ie the team) feels like updating it, which most dont. For the longest time Soto was listed at 185lbs 😂. Which was probably acurrate when he was 17 or whenever the Nats signed him.

Yankees are playing very well right now. If we can score enough runs to offset the bad pitching we can win . Base running and fielding better improve too or else forget it .
Both teams are playing well, it's just going to come which team can execute. I do believe the Dodgers have more leverage hitters than the Yankees, but anything can happen after 4-5 days of rest.

I remember Judge bumping into a bullpen door and injured his toe and was out for almost 3 monthes. Ohtani is an injured pitcher has a torn UCL and he played the entire season and led almost every offensive statistics in the NL and went 50-50 (54-59)
I watched that game, I also remember at Yankee stadium when Ohtani scored on a short fly ball to right field and beat Judges throw (any player would have been out on that short sac fly ball)
Ohtani is a RHP that bats lefty. he's putting minimum stress on his pitching elbow. He also does not play defense. You try running the outfield with a torn ligament on your toe. I get it, you're a Ohtani fan. We all are, but don't let that bias manifest some asinine rhetoric

No its not. Cole has a long way to go to be in any HoF talk. He currently ranks 122nd all time among SP in WAR. For context, Cole has about the same career WAR as AJ Burnett. Nobody on the planet would say Burnett should be in the hall of fame. Jack Morris is widely considered to be a bad HoF selection. Probably the worst modern day SP in thr HoF. Even he is at 55 WAR.
Now WAR isnt everything but thats a massive gap between him and even an avg HOF pitcher.

This is a different Dodger team than the previous years where they choked in the 1st round. They are very focused on winning and are playing as a team, despite holes in their starting rotation.

I normally dont follow baseball or world series much, but Ohtani will be the reason why I do so. He is the most interesting player in the game for me by a wide margin.
Shohei, with just 2 more years of pitching and hitting the way he has done, is an automatic HoF. The rest -- Kershaw, Freeman, Cole, Judge, Stanton, Betts, Soto - will need to build up their career a lot more. For example, if they only have 2 more years of playing time for whatever reason, I don't think they would be automatic. But with the dilution of the HoF in recent years, they probably all go in.

If that injured pitcher on the Dodgers is healthy, it would make the WS rotation a lot easier.
In a short-season game, the presence of an absolute ace pitcher is more important than the number of pitchers.
It is hard not to be able to use this injured pitcher as a pawn when he is actually a member of the team.
To be honest unlike other rivalries, I'm feeling that the Dodgers and Yankees have a more likely respected rivalry than a hating one. I bet both fans were looking at each other expecting them to come up to the WS

Though I like Dodgers more than Yankees, I think Yankees is gonna win this world series. The batting lineups are equally good. The bullpens are equally good or Dodgers are slightly better. But, Yamamoto, Buehler, and Flaherty aren't comparable with Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon. I wish pitcher Ohtani was healthy, and Dodgers would have better chance.
If Judge turns it on and the rest of the guys play like they have been, Yanks will win. If Judge stays cold but the rest of the guys stay hot, it could go either way. If Judge stays cold and Soto or Stanton or Volpe+Rizzo+Verdugo+Torres falter, the Dodgers will win.
